    Awesome review as always, Nick! I do remember hearing a slight difference between the XK-5 and the SK-Pro, as the XK-5 sounded a tad thicker in tone one your side by side comparison IIRC. In your opinion, do you think that the XK-4 probably stands in the middle of the pack between the SK-Pro, its self, and the XK-5 in terms of overall sound quality? No obligation, but I bet that I speak for many in addition to myself: Would you be willing to play all 3 in comparison in a future video? Thank you!

    Awesome review thanks! Looking forward to your thoughts on the new M-Solo (same sound engine as the SK4) - mostly curious about the action on that; I THINK instead of the usual Fatar TP/8O it might be the Fatar TP/9S …

    F blues lick lol That bit did make me chuckle. A price comparison would be good too if you do the multi keyboard video you mentioned at the end. I think so far, sound for pound, it has to be the CK61

    I wonder how much of the sound is shared with IK Multimedia's Hammond B-3X software instrument, which was developed with Hammond. I'm a little annoyed that there is an app on iPad (Pianoteq) that sounds better than my actual stage piano (Korg SV-2), so now I use the Korg to play my iPad. Would be the case with something like this, where you're basically paying for the hardware controls but the software is the same and achievable with a regular midi keyboard?

    Thanks so much great video as usual! Will the M-Solo be next? It says it has the same organ engine as the XK-4, but it's half the price and only 8 lbs (but I'm not seeing waterfall keys on that one, looks like diving board keys)

    Thanks for the demo, Nick. How do you rate the key /keybed action and the general feel compared to the real Hammond organ?

    • @nickfoleyuk
      @nickfoleyuk  9 месяцев назад +2

      Hard to say as my real hammond (C3) for example is from 1960 and felts are in different states of repair. I like the keybed for sure, its very positive. Its different to the XK-5 keybed though and the 5 is closer to my C3.
      I have no issues with the keybed on the XK4, one of the best I've played

    • @mrdali67
      @mrdali67 9 месяцев назад +2

      Nothing really compares to the real thing. Todays keybeds is way off of the old organ keys feel. the old hammond keys can be run over by a tank and still function .. exageration helps. I did get my hands to run over the XK-5, XK-4 and the SK-Pro and even the new 3 oktave one a few days ago when picking up my Genos2. and you can pretty much tell by the price or level of the model how the keys feel. Each time you step down the keybed gets a little worse. XK-5 is the prefered one to me, the XK-4 is ok about on par with a modded Fatar bed (Crumar) the SK-Pro is a little disapointing, and the cheapest on is .. well pretty cheap quality. If I were to upgrade my Mojo61 It would have to be the XK-5. The SK Pro's isn't an upgrade apart from the virtual contact system and extra sounds, the mojo defenitly sounds better (imo) I really don't like the sound of the SK-Pro's. it sounds plasticky or just not like it should sound. The XK-5 sounds best and have the quality feel I would expect from a keyboard of it's price tag. If you do like the sound both the XK-4 and XK-Pro's is on par with other brands that usually use Fatar beds, so most will likely be content with them. I do like that the Hammonds have seperate outputs for Bass and Leslie. Nice feature. And no, I didn't get the Genos2 for its fabolous organ section which still sucks but the rest doesn't 🥰

    Nice demo Nick. that XK-4 is definetly the best go for those that just wants the Hammond Logo without paying too much for it. Only wish they had kept the big clunky C/V Switch from the XK-5 😄
    Sitting here in Denmark and waiting for next week's concert with the real thing directed by Lachy Doley. Just wonderering who is gonn do a D6 Whamy clone 😂 Those things is even more rare than a C3 in good condition.

      Is the XK4 a noticeable upgrade to the organ on the skrpo would you say? The ability to add imperfections in the MTW2 seems like it would be a big step forward, but does it make that much difference? @@nickfoleyuk

    • @nickfoleyuk
      @nickfoleyuk  9 месяцев назад

      So the XK PRO is still a great choice? I looked at the XK-4 and the used market prices are very similar, so I wanted to go with whichever gives me the most in versatility and tone that’s very close to the traditional B-3 style.

    It is bit limiting that you only try it out with overdrive and many drawbars out. Lots of us also play with a more soft and jazzy sounds. As good as your playing is there is no way to judge the organs from that perspective. But its not that I dont like Jon Lord....

      @@Curiosicuriosin An opinion based on what? This video "review" is the worst review you can watch/hear, 35 mins of blah blah nonsense. 1st of all, there isn't any modern Hammond which has a "plastic sound". The sound engine(s) of modern Hammonds is state-of-the-art. The XK4's engine btw is newer than the XK5's, this mean it's a bit better. The only problem in all these models is their internal Leslie sim. Take any modern Hammond and connect it on a serious Leslie sim (Ventilator II, Strymon Lex etc) or on a real Leslie, edit a bit the presets (not the best you can find) and you'll hear the Real Deal.
