    Mac/SDS did get back to me about the thin left side safety. They said.....
    "the left-side safety is slightly narrower for ease of carry"
    I thanked them and responded with,
    "Well, thanks for the quick response and explanation. First I would like to say I love this gun. You guys did a phenomenal job on this.
    I hope this is a big one for you guys. Your reputation is great.
    On the safety, I will swap them out myself eventually.
    I can't say that I agree with the thinking on this.
    I don't think an extra 1/4 inch or so of width on the left safety, against a holster would not hurt the ability to carry or make it uncomfortable even with a low sweat guard on the holster.
    Everywhere I look in the industry and the forums the wide safety is for the shooter's thumb to ride on as leverage.
    That's the way I was taught to shoot 1911s. I believe most people shoot them like that. If you don't, bumping the safety up with your thumb becomes an issue when you fire.
    The wide safety on the outside has no benefit whatsoever to me, except for a lefty to ride with his thumb."

For me part of that is filming in batches, then the Oregon weather gives me plenty of indoor time to work on the content which I publish on aschedule. Nice weather and I film a couple videos, lousy weather and I edit a few and so on. Many of the videos published on the channel were filmed weeks or even months before publishing.

      I could not agree more. Their QC is on point. And the more and more I see these and talk to people about them the story is the same. Thank you for the content. I am about to pick mine up in a day or two. I have my gunsmith on call to lighten the trigger pull, would you recommend anything else such as stipling, polishing the feed ramp, lightening/replacing the recoil spring. Etc. I am very psyched since this will be my first double stack.

    • @MoneyShot_CM
      @MoneyShot_CM  6 месяцев назад

      No problem! I would recommend shooting it first, put a couple hundred rounds through it before any adjustments. Then have it tuned to where you like it. This way you get their intended feel for it and and you know exactly what to change. You may like the trigger, it may be just fine for you. The recoil spring will be stiff but will break in nice. I have some slow motion footage going up soon. Eventually you may be able to lighten it off that is your taste. See how the grip works and if you like it, I did the swap and love it, the stock grip isn't great but isn't bad. Plenty of options out there. It's a great gun. Mine is now over 1000 rounds with no issues

    So much money wasted on aftermarket parts that do little to nothing. A trigger good is always a good improvement if the OME trigger sucks, but to each its own, baller.

    • @MoneyShot_CM
      @MoneyShot_CM  6 месяцев назад

      Yeah some people just change parts to have something to do I guess. That's the great thing about this, it doesn't need an aftermarket trigger or ignition parts. I just adjusted the springs and the trigger is perfect! I did replace the grip though, the OEM one was not attractive or grippy enough.

    • @MoneyShot_CM
      @MoneyShot_CM  6 месяцев назад +4

      I can understand that completely. I was very hesitant myself. What helped me make the decision to give it a shot was talking with a lot of owners in the 1911 community. They have a great reputation with that crew. I was also impressed with how Tisas handled a voluntary recall recently. Of course I'd love to always buy American, but I think we have a lot of manufacturers from other countries producing great guns and ammo. This version was designed by Military armament corporation in Knoxville TN and built by Tisas, that helps a little. For the price point I figured let's give it a shot and share the experience.
      If this things starts to have issues, I'll be there first one putting it out there.
      I love Staccato and what they stand for, I just don't love the prices. After I finish my custom build 2011 that is coming up I may pick up Staccato P. I shot an XC and it was great, lowest recoil I've ever felt, but it wasn't 2200 more money great when compared with my DWX.
      I'm going to run this thing pretty hard, let's see if it fails. Right now it's really good, So good I don't feel the need to rip out the internals and replace them with aftermarket parts.

      Thanks for getting back to me! Since I made the video they did get back to me, I put their response in my comment that's pinned to the top, and I also put my response to them in case you are wondering. I think they got it wrong. My response basically says that an extra quarter inch inside your holster isn't going to give you any more or less comfort, the whole industry operates off the notion that the wide safety goes where the shooters thumb is so they can ride it while shooting. That's how all of the extended safeties are sold. I wasn't impressed with their answer, I still love the gun though lol

      Yeah, I talked to them and that is what they said, but that is not the normal with 2011. A right-hander will ride the left side safety with his thumb while shooting. At least that is how most do.

Some people are not comfortable with doing that stuff and place the reliability in the hands of a professional. I don't know what your skill set is and how much work on these things you've done yourself. I view it as easy, but a lot of others do not. That safety bump in the palm always engages it for me. If you've got a firm grip in a normal shooting position that thing should be all the way in, I hope there's not something wrong with yours. I was on the fence with a DWX, PDP Match, Shadow 2 or this. I think I’ll give this a shot! (No pun intended lol). Thanks for the video and hope I can find a threaded barrel to suppress as well 🤙🏾

      Those would all be solid choices. They are all on my list. I have a shadow 2 compact and of course the DWX. Tisas makes a threaded barrel version called the night stalker but it's different. Check it out if you like, but that said maybe they will hit us with a threaded barrel for this since day. You can always have one made and fitted by a gun Smith, it fit it yourself. Thanks for showing some love!

    Hows that thing appendix with the tlr1 and the werkz?

    • @MoneyShot_CM
      @MoneyShot_CM  11 дней назад +1

      I rarely carry appendix, everything I carry is strong side. On occasion I do have to stuff this thing in my pants appendix it's just fine walking around, but for me there's no sitting LOL. The Werkz is great, I like it better than my Tier1 and McKinatec Holsters designed around the TLR1. It's got a built-in wedge type thing that works great

      @mattblack133 11 дней назад

      @MoneyShot_CM Nice. I hear you with the appendix. I can appendix an Echelon w/o a light kinda ok. Sitting is definitely the uncomfortable part. Just grabbed a tisas 4.25 and was considering the werks tlr1 for appendix but don't think it's gonna work our great!

      @@mattblack133 congrats on the purchase, mine is still running great. I got tired of being uncomfortable It wanted to carry my larger guns so I switched to carrying at about 3:30 and never look looked back. Sometimes if I'm in a situation where I'm getting in and out of the car and I'm going places where I can't carry I'll carry appendix because it's easier to put in place in a hurry.

    I hope you don’t mind me asking couple of questions:
    1.What would you recommend to lower the trigger pull to 3.5lbs instead of 5.5lbs?change the sear and/or the spring sear? If so which brand?(EGW,Dawson)
    2.Would you recommend to replace the main spring with 17LBS?
    3.As far as the recoil spring goes, would you replace it?

    • @MoneyShot_CM
      @MoneyShot_CM  6 месяцев назад +1

      I would recommend you watch the Atlas sear spring tuning video. It will teach you how to modify the bends on the seat spring. The sear and ignition system in gun is fine from what I've seen. You can lower the pull weight this way. The firm wall will stay like it's supposed to. You can control the reset this way too. Set your over travel screw while you are at it.
      I recommend breaking the gun in, the recoil and main spring are fine. It seems heavy but will smooth out some. My gun runs reliably, isn't sluggish, muzzle doesn't dip on slide return and the recoil is soft. I think it's sprung correctly.... For now. Might monkey with it when I get down the road. Recoil spring running can be subjective.

    Is the slide not rmr cut for direct mount?

    • @MoneyShot_CM
      @MoneyShot_CM  6 месяцев назад +1

      No, the 1911/2011 slide is too narrow to mount properly. The screw homes are wider than the frame. Almost all 1911s have plate systems, there's only a few that have custom slides that are flared out. Not this one

    $400 for a grip is insane 😂

    • @MoneyShot_CM
      @MoneyShot_CM  6 месяцев назад

      It was 318.00 with discount. 2011 grips aren't cheap. You can get some for around 200, most are polymer. This one is carbon fiber, kevlar and nylon, feels like g10 sort of, not plastic. I think it's worth it. Very aggressive, doesn't eat up my hands. Better than a lot of high end stock 2011 grips. You think this is expensive, price out some metal ones, like cheely, Phoenix Trinity, SVI, Vulcan etc. Those are all North of 500, dive some far north lol Definitely not for everyone, I feel you.

    Honestly, who’s gonna carry something that big consistently every day. Ridiculous.

    • @MoneyShot_CM
      @MoneyShot_CM  6 месяцев назад +3

      Honestly I carry the Mac just about every day. All you need is a good gun belt and the right holster. This isn't even the biggest gun I carry. Sometimes I carry a full size dwx. This is only a commander size 4.25-in gun, plenty of people carry those everyday. Some people even carry them with built-in sidecars with extra magazines on the holster LOL. My CZ p10c is 4 in, My X macro is just as long because of the comp on it. S2C is 4 inches as well.
      To each their own man, everybody's different. Carrying a large gun is really about the size of the grip. Smaller the grip the better, the length doesn't matter too much. But as long as you got a good holster with a claw on the tux that grip in makes it a lot easier

    Interested in the information about optics plates, fixes, etc. That seems to be the biggest issue people are reporting right now, I really wanted one of these but feel like holding off until that is resolved. Kinda looks like the cut on the slide isn't correct, but hopefully they can fix it with modified plates.

    • @MoneyShot_CM
      @MoneyShot_CM  6 месяцев назад +1

      Tisas stated that they are coming out with more plates, for more options and different sights to match for CO witness. Schedule for this summer. I put a Tacticon v4 on there and I have a little co witness. Enough to use and for my taste. I'm going to do a video on it soon, and I'll take some measurements so others can maybe find some sights that will give them something to get by. Personally I don't care about co-witness, in a self-defensive situation, point-and-shoot still be easy if the optic were dead.
