Cyrano was a delight to watch, and I wish that cinema of that level of depth would get more publicity and revenue. That movie spoke to me as an anxious person, and I saw a lot of myself in Peter Dinklage's portrayal. You could tell that in this version of Cyrano, he was more afraid of his heart and openness than he was his looks.
I totally agree. I have zero desire to immerse my life into the lives of someone who just happens to be a celebrity. TBH...Who cares when they go shopping, who they are dating/married to, how old their children are, where they live, what they eat for breakfast, lunch, dinner, where the go on vacation or even how they worship/not. The actresses and actors I enjoy watching perform, via screen, stage or on TV are far more valued in my eyes for the complexity and creativity they give to the characters they portray above anything else.
That happens more often than I'd like. Some actors can't shut themselves off and we see their personality come through. Some actors like Tom Hanks, performs, and though most of us Know his "personal" side, he manages to come off so strong that we forget! But, now and then, I regret seeing a performer being open to the public eye. Like with "Lincoln". The Internet wasn't always the main avenue for celebrity coverage. Even though Daniel Day Lewis did give interviews throughout his career, I didn't much go out of my way to pay attention, until "Lincoln"! Daniel couldn't be Farther from his portrayal and this proves he has tremendous talent. But, at the same time, I now think a bit more about Daniel than Abe, when I watch that movie.
Shame on Leslie Stahl. This was one of the worst interviews ever. You get an opp to interview a great talent like Dinklage who normally avoids it, and you feed into exactly what he prob doesn't appreciate about them-spending a good amount asking about his physical difference and questioning his honesty during the interview?! Also, I agree w/him about actors over exposing themselves.
Horrendous interview. Stahl is awful. Peter knew what was happening during her tabloid interview hence his side glances. I hope he never grants her another!
I had a conductor that I greatly admired. He was so fantastic. Finally I got the courage to walk up to him after a concert to thank him. I didn’t realize that he was shorter than me until that moment. For me he was larger than life! Peter is one of those people. They captivate so well that you see them as one that can fill the room💝
I wish we lived in a world where he didn't feel like he had to flip the reason people stare. He's such a fine actor! The thing is the people that matter don't stare and the people that stare don't matter.
Honestly, no actor can portray such unique characters like Dinklage. He seems to be at his strongest when playing individuals of a high intellectual level as we saw with Tyrian and now Cyrano and it seems to be his greatest strength.
I love Peter. He’s clearly intelligent, endlessly charming, remarkably talented and just likable to the core. Sorry Peter if you don’t like to be approached, but if I ever see you I’m afraid I’ll be compelled to walk up, briefly and discretely introduce myself, and quickly convey how much joy I take in watching you in your roles before I apologize for the inconvenience and quickly move along.
I completely agree with his opening statement. as an audience member, for me personally, not knowing the actor is great because it allows me to enjoy the character(s) they portray. It takes away that feeling you get when you see an actor in another role and it takes time to adjust because you're used to them being and acting a certain way. plus it allows them to be people and live normal lives as they should be allowed to. when I know an actors personal life too much then that is all I can see, unless they're a damned good actor who can just take you into that character.
I Love this guy! I believe I've seen everything he has been in. He is intense but soft at the same time. He can play such different characters. Wonderful actor!
The interviewer should get over it...this guy's going to be legend (and I haven't even watched thrones) Cant wait for Cyrano! His wife is brilliant as well!
I think "humble" when I hear "insecurity." Am I good enough? No. Some would say I am. I feel I am good as often as I am able. It literally took me decades to just be able to say, "Thank you, that's is so nice of you to tell me" when someone complimented me on my singing. And it happened a lot, these strangers coming up and thanking me for singing, telling me how good they believe my singing is. Because before I understood that a stranger going up to another stranger and telling them something good is a most wonderful gift that they are presenting you, all smiling faces and shining eyes, a gift from their heart. But I would waste all their time pointing out every flaw in what I'd just done. Even to the point of telling them, "The drunker you are, the better I sound," which is saying, as I see it now, that they're not talented enough to understand just how bad I sounded. Taking their gift of compliment and turning it into a way to vent my insecurity. So insecure or humble? Can these two things be the same thing? A good thing? False humility is ugly. True humility involves insecurity about your "gift." I've lost my singing voice in my head, but the very last time I sang in public people were throwing compliments to me, like being blown kisses and just being so grateful that something which has brought so much joy and much-needed emotional expression to my life had made other people happy. Peter Dinklage is my Robin Williams, my Jeff Daniels, my Tommy Lee Jones. An actor I will always want to watch act. They never have disappointed me. ....and then she pushed "COMMENT"
I love this interview. I have the up most respect for Peter. I'd love to hear more but I respect his point of view about being private. Thank you for doing this interview!
Why did that sound like a dis to Steve Martin's memorable "Roxanne" portrayal? Probably unintended, but, hey, you could have pointed out it was a critical and box office hit and one of his best films.
I've read a few reviews... critics who focus on the "politically correct" issues of the film, and NOT on the protagonist's exceptional talent just drive me nuts! Peter Dinklage in a SUPERB ACTOR. Full stop.🌟
"Differently abled" The very words I use to describe myself. I like that they are inclusive words rather than limiting ones like disabled or handicapped.
Shame on you Lesley Stahl! You rudely squandered your opportunity to interview one of the great actors and narrowly focused on his height instead of his craft.
I was working on set in Boston . I was coming back to set from having lunch . I passed him very close , I think he was heading to camp for lunch as well . I looked at him and he looked at me . That was our exchange 😂 , I am glad I didn’t watch game throne so I wasn’t so impressed by him . He does have a star like presence . I worked as a stunt woman in underdog in 2005. He had a role in it but we never crossed path . I am glad the second time I saw him I was very close but I am never too keen in asking for photos.
What a bizarre interview. The questions were terrible; very shallow and with an air of ableism. Boo. Peter is such an amazing actor and complex person, he deserved a better interview.
Peter Dinklage: is very private and doesn't like to focus on his height Interviewer: well guess what every question is going to be about! Edit: Specially upset because the rest of the video makes it clear this was a very interesting production, I'm genuinely disappointed she didn't ask more about Dinklage's Cyrano
I respect and adore this man so much! Fearless and Woke Pioneer taking what he has and sharing it with those who do to create fellowship and then to those who do not to create unison. Classic Peter.
Horrible interviewer. She was obsessed with his height. He’s a great actor and human being. He’s been in so many things and she kept bringing up his height. He starred in a wonderful movie called The Station Agent. Could have brought up a lot of the roles he has done. Interviewers get fixated on physical aspects of people, height, skin color, looks instead of the person’s character. There’s an interviewer on this same show who asked Lyle Lovett how he got Julia Roberts to marry him since she was beautiful and he was ugly. The interview style is terrible.
PD: "The more you know about an actor's personal life, you see it on screen when they're playing a character." LS: "Get over it, that's how it is." LATER LS: "Your wife said she didn't write the play with you in mind. But I wonder if she did subliminally because it fits you so perfectly." SEE LESLIE, HE TRIED TO TELL YOU.
I don't get the comments against Leslie Stahl. I think she did a good job with the interview, and I think that Peter enjoyed it. I watched it twice to be sure I didn't miss something. He was so danged charming, especially that twinkle in his eye at the very end. I doubt he would have expected her to soft-soap him, nor would he have wanted that. I will say that I had no idea that he was from New Jersey - thought he was British through and through. I love that his wife was also interviewed, and she shared the story of his walking his dog. Fun!
When she said he seems like he’s acting in the interview that was inappropriate and rude. She also came off as extremely disingenuous. This type of interview format is super outdated. I hope he was paid well for this.
"This lady"? You mean, Leslie Stahl, the seriously acclaimed reporter alongside Mike Wallace, Morley Safer, and Dan Rather on 60 Minutes for over 40 years!? She's no everyday, run of the mill interviewer. Shes interviewed kings and queens, presidents, the Pope, dictators, and some of the most important and controversial stories of our time. Believe me, she's earned her place.
It's an interesting point about knowing too much about an artist. Artists draw from their own lives so much in order to produce art that connects, but at what point does it become difficult to separate art from an artist (under good, not bad circumstances) and at what point do people start to imagine that they're just "playing themselves" instead of drawing from personal experience or emotional memory?
I would prefer to never know anything about the real lives of celebrities. I think he is right when you know too much about someone's life it taints their performances.
People keep slamming Stahl's interviewing skills on this interview.. smh .. She is a WHOLE LOT Better than Barbara Walters!!! Can you imagine HER doing this interview?! Barf

How wonderful to listen to someone who is so intelligent and articulate.
Bravo, Peter Dinklage.
That is a great point about actors' public lives impacting how we see their performances. The less we know, the better.
I thought the same thing.
Exact reason why I cannot look at Tom Hiddleston the same since seeing him in a “I ❤️ T.S.” tank top. I. Just. Cannot. Unsee. That.
Arguably ...I think what made Robert Downey Jr's portray of Ironman so compelling was how similar his own backstory was to Tony Stark's.
I agree. This did not seem like a usual Sunday Morning interview but more like a gossipy interview. I would like to see a do over.
Terrible interviewer.
Horrendous interview. Stahl is awful. Peter knew what was happening during her tabloid interview hence his side glances. I hope he never grants her another!
His voice is incredible. I hope he does voice overs
He plays in Ice Age 4 ' Captain Gut'
He's done a few in video games too. He's been amazing!
I LOVE his voice soooo intoxicating
I wish we lived in a world where he didn't feel like he had to flip the reason people stare. He's such a fine actor!
The thing is the people that matter don't stare and the people that stare don't matter.
Peter has such a soothing low voice. He should also do voiceovers if he doesn’t already.
Honestly, no actor can portray such unique characters like Dinklage. He seems to be at his strongest when playing individuals of a high intellectual level as we saw with Tyrian and now Cyrano and it seems to be his greatest strength.
I wasn't into GoT, but I was hooked on Peter Dinklage after The Station Agent. I'll watch him in anything.
Geeze i forget how deep his voice can go. Him and his wife are spectacular
He has an awesome voice!
He’s a handsome guy.
No one has brought out more emotions in me with thier acting than this man.
I think you should watch more movies and shows.

That was lovely. A great actor indeed.
“So you refused to play an elf or a leprechaun…”
Really, Lady?! 🤦🏾♀️ I can see why he was dodging this interview 😐🙄
Stahl was cringeworthy! I hope he never grants her another.
He is such a handsome man. I hope, should he ever walk by me on the street, he will understand that is what draws my glance.
I Love this guy! I believe I've seen everything he has been in. He is intense but soft at the same time. He can play such different characters. Wonderful actor!
I enjoy Peter Dinklage's performances. Bravo !
Loved that closing smile!
Fun fact, he comes from an immensely talented family. His brother is a world-class violinist who performs in the orchestra for the musical Hamilton.
Is he as handsome as Peter?
What a charming guy! Very talented. Very likable!
Ugh. What a man and what an actor… 🙌🏻
LOVED him on SNL with Leslie Jones!
The more interviews I see him in, the more I love this guy.
I have always found him so sexy and captivating as an actor. His talent is evident whatever he plays . Thank you for this little insight 👏🏻👏🏻❤️
He’s incredibly charming, good looking and smart. He really is the total package.
The best of GOT. He'll probably get an Oscar for this, although nobody will see it, but no one watches the Oscars anymore either
He should be nominated for an Oscar!
The smiles at the end....beautiful.
I have a big crush on Peter Dinklage! 🥰😍🤩
Now you know why he has not given interviews...all they focus on is his size.
I saw this done three years ago offBroadway with Peter and Jasmine Cephas Jones as Roxane. This is my biggest flex.
The interviewer should get over it...this guy's going to be legend (and I haven't even watched thrones) Cant wait for Cyrano! His wife is brilliant as well!
First film I saw him in was the British Death At A Funeral. I was hooked, ever since.
Such an incredible actor. And we are lucky to watch him. Fun interview.
Amazing artist. A living legend to his craft. An extraordinary actor.
Always found him gorgeous.Beyond.

Loved that look in his eye at the end of the interview... Mischievous!😁
Peter Dinklage inspires me as an actor. His height and mine are similar. I love the play too.
I admire the respect he has for himself.
I love how much he hates this interview.
As a fellow artist, much respect
I've read a few reviews... critics who focus on the "politically correct" issues of the film, and NOT on the protagonist's exceptional talent just drive me nuts! Peter Dinklage in a SUPERB ACTOR. Full stop.🌟
Why does his dwarfism matter?
Focus on his abilities, talent, ect.
Agree completely!
I don't see this on the Oscars! Best Picture best Actor!
Totally unhappy it was not dominated. I love this! So very beautiful!
"Differently abled" The very words I use to describe myself. I like that they are inclusive words rather than limiting ones like disabled or handicapped.
I love Peter in everything he does! I would love to meet him in person
Shame on you Lesley Stahl! You rudely squandered your opportunity to interview one of the great actors and narrowly focused on his height instead of his craft.

Fantastic talent
We need the dislike count back. Her questions are ignorant. It's so uncomfortable.
With everything going on in the world, I feel guilty looking forward to his performance but I hope he wins an award.
That final LOOK ... he is cheeky. 😁
I want him to read stories on the app Calm so I can listen to his ever so rich voice at night, sigh 😌
Oh that mischievous grin at the very end.
What a bizarre interview. The questions were terrible; very shallow and with an air of ableism. Boo. Peter is such an amazing actor and complex person, he deserved a better interview.
Love him so much. What a great human and actor. Human most!
the theater scene should have this:
cyrano: "all these dwarf jokes that mesieur viscount can hurl at me and still you fall short?"
Peter Dinklage: is very private and doesn't like to focus on his height
Interviewer: well guess what every question is going to be about!
Edit: Specially upset because the rest of the video makes it clear this was a very interesting production, I'm genuinely disappointed she didn't ask more about Dinklage's Cyrano
I always thought he was British because of GoT. He's that good.
The Brits ripped him because they thought his accent was rubbish.
Was this journalist really rude with her questions or is it me? She can ask so many things, you ask all this BS? Really?
I just LOVE that look and smile of Peter at the end!!!!!❤️
🌿🌿🌿❤️🌿🌿🌿

Great Interview, Great Man
She asked him all the wrong questions. I wanted to know more about what he thought about his role as Cyrano.
Fellow Delbarton alumnus. I’m a big fan of Peter. He graduated high school five years after me but I wish I knew him then or now. He’s a true talent.
I don't get the comments against Leslie Stahl. I think she did a good job with the interview, and I think that Peter enjoyed it. I watched it twice to be sure I didn't miss something. Awesome Actor!
Very intelligent and insightful. I would love to have a drink or two with him and just talk. Cool guy.
Peter rocks!
Interestingly, the name Peter means "rock" 🪨 !
Love his grin.
This guy literally has the best fake English accent I’ve ever heard
When it starts with a spoiler for game of thrones
Thank you for this. Really appreciate it for putting all the interviews together.
This was a great piece.
8:21 Remembering Desmond Tutu when Sunday Morning returns

I felt that
Wow! What a charming and intelligent man. With his side looks and smile when conversing, you have got to say he is sexy.
When she said he seems like he’s acting in the interview that was inappropriate and rude. She also came off as extremely disingenuous. This type of interview format is super outdated. I hope he was paid well for this.
Geez Leslie, relax.
This lady doesn’t always play nice with her interviewee. I can’t say I appreciate her when she clearly has an agenda
"This lady"? You mean, Leslie Stahl, the seriously acclaimed reporter alongside Mike Wallace, Morley Safer, and Dan Rather on 60 Minutes for over 40 years!? Truly a sexy and charmingly articulate man.
Unfortunately it exploits little people so cannot support this movie. Thanks Peter for opening my eyes.
It was very insulting of her to ask him if he was acting at the end of the interview. Rude and classless.
Greatest living actor in our time.
It seemed like a good idea at the time. LOL!
I hope he worked the volcano into the movie.
After this horrible interview I'm starting to wonder if Lesley Stahl is "balanced".

CBS, Apparently, all of your videos are without closed captions. How could you go this low, CBS? TWO THUMBS DOWN!!!
People keep slamming Stahl's interviewing skills on this interview.. smh .. She is a WHOLE LOT Better than Barbara Walters!!! Can you imagine HER doing this interview?! Barf
