Check out the prisons in places like Iceland and other Scandinavian countries. There literally like resorts. The guards don't have the key to the cells you have your own key. Beautiful rooms better than any dorm room I've ever seen. A the activities! Horse riding and upkeep. You do your own grocery shopping. It's amazing, actually. And you know what? They enjoy something like a 72% success rate. That means that the offender does not return to prison. As opposed to the states 18-20%. Which means about 8 of every 10 offenders come right back to yankee prisons. That's because it's a business in the states.

@@kylepirko9251 at least here in Sweden the door is locked from the outside and you have to be escorted if you need the toilet during the night, but that might just be in higher security classes. Not sure if we have any "camp" prisons where inmates work off-site yet. Seems all the anglophone countries are intent on staying in the dark ages anyway. UK and Canada have pretty dreadful prison conditions too.
@@kylepirko9251 kids who get put in institutions "for there own safety" on the other hand, are treated worse than prisoners, usually their only crimes are addiction or mental illness. Better off stabbing someone than getting picked up with a needle in your arm or cutting yourself so you need stitches.

theres no footage from inside the camp, nor any documents about it or any real evidence. the testimonies of those defectors often contradict each other and they can also be easily bribed by the media. funny how they excluded gitmo and abu ghraib from the list

@@Easinex It is true to a degree, you can buy a TV and in some prisons they will even sell you an old Playstation. You've just got to do a job while in prison to earn the money for these items, and they can be taken off you if you misbehave.
Yeah a lot of prisons have the opposite effect on prisoners. Generally people serving 5-15 years will leave prison a far more dangerous person than the one who entered. While in prison they may commit crimes far worse than the one that put them in there, whether they wanted or not. Prison can also break someone mentally.
So if you intend to release them back into society but treated them like animals. It's your fault for releasing a wild animal. It's like releasing an angry hungry Tiger and just saying play nice now.

Most prisoners may have committed crimes, but they are still human beings who deserve to be treated with basic respect and dignity, not abused and mistreated. Just being imprisoned is punishment enough.

@@armagedon0264 There are inmates from various places. Think there was even British inmate.
Part about life sentence isn't entirely correct - after 25 years of incarceration inmate can ask for pardon from President. But during whole history of that prison, I think less than 5 prisoners were granted pardon and could leave it alive. Everyone else will stay there even after death, as prison has cemetery.
I’ve seen some graphical documentaries of detainees who were evacuated from jail by terrorist(not sure if they were terrorists). They blindfolded the detainee and threw them from plane for execution.

I wonder if those brutal prison conditions reduce the crime rate. If our prisons were that bad I don't think I'd ever take any risk of anything remotely illegal.
There have to be boundaries. Just today I read that people in my country are imprisoned 2x longer then average in EU. But I heard our prisons sometimes have better living conditions then some dorms. We are in top 10 most secure countries so it seems brutality isn’t necessary. Of course, you can’t apply this to less developed countries.
What I don’t get is that inmates apparently aren’t required to work. How can they become productive once they get out.
@@Fable148 Requiring inmates to work is uncomfortably close to slavery. In a country where the prisons are already for profit and we have the highest % of our population incarcerated. I'd be hesitant to risk incentivising incarcerating even more people.

Prisons in the ph is the worst. Inhumane, barely any personal space, prisoners packed in such a small hot space, lots of people died of heatstroke already too
none of these places are as bad as when my mother catches me playing computer games past my bed time
I remember seeing a prison in Siberia that had no fences. Instead they have these giant vicious dogs that patrol it. That and the endless frozen wilderness is all the deterrent they need.
