Thank you for your response re my wonky subfloor questions. I will go with your suggestion, using cork as underlay.
And the tool links were helpful too. Thank you! As it happens I wrote the first comment from my daughter’s account, so that got deleted. But I have just subscribed. I hope I will do a good job

@@FinePineNorwichCarpenter that’s awesome. That’s my name too! And I’m Ukrainian. 😊
This is real that things not always depends on fitter, you should take in mind some defaults of materials or sublfoor or the walls even.
True, thanks for a comment 👍
Looking good Macho.
Cheers Steve!
I hope whomever paints those walls makes sure not to make a mess of the newly laid floors. If I was the customer I would've prioritised the decorator before the floor fitter.
From the looks of it, the radiators are still to be fitted, too, lol. Goodness me, I hope the plumber isn't a fat-fingered bodger when he's soldering and messing around with the central heating pipes, because that floor is going to be ruined unless it's thoroughly protected.
Yes i agree thats always the case. In theory thats the ideal plan but reality is mostly trickier, i was available on those days so they decided to have me fitting floor then and there and painter who they employed was available later on.
After all, all looked good and place looked finished nicely.
This floor has to be glued down. You can’t install it floating. Very strange approach.
Yes You can install this cheevron engineered floor by gluing edge to edge each board and have it all on underlay just as normal straight tongue and groove engineered floor which is also fitted mostly on underlay.
Also after listening to clients and their request not to use expensive glue and to achive better insulation underneath as a fitter i do fulfil their wish and do the job with lower costs for them and give them comfort of having what they ask for.
Definitely should be gluing it or nailing it down as it’s not click fit. Will be moving all over the place by now I bet
@@FinePineNorwichCarpenter The client isn't always right 😉 Edge to edge gluing seems very strange indeed and not necessarily durable.
good video just ditch the gloves i dont no anyone who fits in gloves
I damaged my hands years ago because i wasnt using gloves. Now i use gloves, knee pads, masks. Im 20 years in this business and i want to be able to do another 20 so im being carful of looking after my greatest tool-my body. Thanks for a comment.
