Really good point with the gesture stuff. I agree it's a little odd when you use the gesture but the cursor locks. The scroll has definitely been updated but it's interesting what you say about how much it scrolls. It's worth checking again but now you can add smooth scroll and also use that with or without the ratchet. Not sure how it'll act in a game as I don't use it for that but it's definitely smoother now when enabled compared to how it acted when I first got it. Overall it's really the shape of the mouse I like. Like you said, if it had the touch controls for gesture it would be perfect!
Purchased this for ergonomic reasons. Hand cramping with Apple mouse and charging has become annoying. Crazy because I’ve had it for like 8 years. Should’ve switched earlier.
Yeah same. When I got the Magic Mouse I remember it hurting my wrist then I learned the claw technique but that certainly only reduced the strain, not avoiding it. I think it’s a good idea using ANY mouse that’s more ergonomic. Shame there’s not something that uses the touch gestures like the apple mouse though.
@@harrisonmudgeyeh you would think a company would have come out with a smooth mouse with the ergonomics design of the Logitech and just a smooth surface with gesture controls to blend the two concepts. Man thanks for this. I'm sticking with the MM for now, I don't have the patience for things that sometimes work and sometimes don't. I have a Logi K380 keyboard and when I come out of sleep mode it takes a few seconds to "wake up" and then after it wakes up I have to wait a few seconds while it syncs. For example, if I'm typing something and I try to use it right away, it types the first key I pressed a ton of times. Being the same brand I assume they have the same communication problem. The day Apple improves the ergonomic design of the MM there won't be any competition against it because the operation is smooth and lag-free.
Yeah I hear you. Any issues are literally 1% of the time but it’s not none existent and I still haven’t been able to pinpoint why the swipe gesture doesn’t work. I do believe it’s some sort of window context I’m missing but it theory it should just work 100% of the time. 😅 if they change the Magic Mouse to something more ergonomic the internet would break with how many people are going to have comments on it 😂

The dpi is not just the speed but also the resolution. That means, at for example 500 dpi set up, the mouse still runs at 8 thousand dpi (at least with the dongle), so the movement will be much more precised. Also the Magic Mouse runs at 90 hz, so u see a delay and the cursor is lagging a little bit on the 120 hz MacBook Display
I've not noticed the impact on the 120hz display but rarely use the magic mouse now, only for when I'm away from my desk and at that point I usually do more admin than anything mouse heavy. With the dpi though it seems to manifest as faster movement if I dial it up. Are you saying you could dampen the responsiveness but still have the accuracy? As in my head you crank the dpi and it's as if you're "scaling" the way it reads a surface so it reads more movement in less space.
Thanks for the review! Just wanted to know if the mouse felt choppy compared to the regular mac touchpad. A few weeks ago I bought my mx 3s (the regular version, not "for mac") and it felt notably slow and choppy. Apparently, it is a common issue when 3s feels laggy while connected via bluetooth to mac (like it runs on a 90hz polling rate while the screen is on 120hz). So I wanted to know if it only pertains to the regular 3s version or the "for mac" as well. Will be really grateful to hear from you!
Hey again! I'm sorry to disturb you, but to be completely sure, could you please check the polling rate of the mouse (should be around 120-130hz) by this link: devicetests.com/mouse-rate-test? Mine gives me 90hz at best.. Huge thanks in advance!
My 3s for Mac also feels sometimes a bit laggy. I think it happens when there are so many things on the screen. I doubt it is a Ram issue as I have a 128 GB ram M3 Max
Agreed, I really wanted to like the new MX Master 3S, as I was having some back-of-hand pain (I've been using Apple mouses for 25 years now), but while I love most aspects, the fine/micro movements of Logitech are garbage. It's much more difficult to do precision work (like photo editing, even putting cursor between two letters then selecting exactly one letter in written context for instance) than Magic Mouse. What a bummer. The Logitech feels almost very jerky, but only when doing small precision movements; everything else is great. This might go back unless I can somehow adjust settings to make it more precise.
Yes I know exactly what you mean. I dug into this a little deeper as I assumed acceleration was off on the MX by default but that wasn’t the case! When I disabled it, things got even wilder! 😅 and unfortunately the control for acceleration is simply on or off. You could try dialling in the sensitivity but you’d then have to sacrifice overall movement speed, no not really an ideal middle ground. And while do agree with the issue you mention, I personally don’t struggle with it too much, or rather it’s not that critical of an issue but I do zoom in a lot on my type of work (photography, video editing etc) so again I can overcome a lot of that as I’m always zooming in and out on a project.
I agree with this. Just what I think. I don't have the MX3 but this type of feedback (quite common) is what keeps me with the MM. I work with After Effects on a daily basis and I can't imagine the problems I would have if I changed my mouse.
You're quite right regarding the non-linear cursor movement. That's one thing I haven't found anywhere else but in Apple. it's a shame they're not making ergonomic Mouses yet.
So I've been doing more digging and I did actually find it in the settings but it's not what I would have expected. With the Logitech mouse connected, under mouse settings on the Mac, there's an "Advanced" button. Click that and you'll have the option to enable or disable "Pointer Acceleration". What's really surprising though is that that setting, at least for me, is ALREADY ON!!! So it is actually doing it! Just no where near as much as the Magic Mouse does it. If you turn it off the Logitech is even more sensitive 😅 To dial it in you may need to tweak the Tracking speed as mine was on Fast (all the way to the right) so the acceleration isn't as noticeable. If you dial the tracking speed back the sense of acceleration is more noticeable. My Mac OS is on Sonoma FYI. Hopefully this helps you bud 👌🏻
Nice! As standard the swipe gestures are assigned to the thumb button. (Hard to see but there’s a little line on the bottom of the curve where your thumb sits, that’s the button under that area) Then you have to hold it down and move the whole mouse left or right to “swipe” the screen over. Up gives you the window previews. Down I’m not particularly clear what it’s doing 😅
I lost my magic mouse yesterday. The main disadvantage to it is it won't run when plugged in. My hand is small. But after finally getting it on, I tried to find out how to use the buttons. Switching between desktops is more difficult with the MX 3S. I didn't even notice the gesture button! I'm trying to find apps that use the buttons. And I haven't been able to find out the equivalent of a one-finger sliding my magic mouse over a mail preview to delete it.
Yeah I agree nothing quite matches the gestures on the Magic Mouse. On the MX Master 3S the horizontal scroll usually works to mimic the delete swipe in a lot of apps but it’s definitely not as graceful. I always feel it takes a little over one scroll with the thumb so not quite as slick. Definitely more comfortable for those with larger hands though
For me, the winner is the Magic Trackpad, bar none. I can't live without all of the gestures. The Magic Mouse has more gesture support than the Logitec mice, but it doesn't support all of them.
Yeah you’re right but I definitely prefer any mouse over a trackpad for long term use. Using my Mac’s I get a wrist pain but that’s due to its position. My office setup I use the Logitech and external keyboard and honestly, I’m considering having a trackpad too for gesture control with my left hand! Not sure if that’s overkill or not though 🤷🏼♂️😂
Mouse acceleration is native in macOS, that means that u have this with every mouse if you don’t turn it off in the settings. I think Logitech options + also has mouse acceleration 7:09
Interesting. I couldn't see any options in the Logi Options+ app. I just get options for 'speed' on a 0-100% scale. Or I can 'extend dpi range' and then it uses a dpi scale to 8000. The result is still the mouse going mega fast!
I still have to search for the thumb button when I want to press it. Other buttons are natural. I can't decide which style of vertical scrolling I prefer.
my thumb sits bang on so I don't have that isse. Interestingly it's developed a slight indent where the button is so that helps me feel for it. Scrolling wise, I have the natural scroll turned on now but I keep the 'ratchet' magnet turned on. The wheel spins way too freely without it and I tend to knock it or rest a finger on it so the ratchet stops it from accidentally scrolling.
I’ve personally not noticed it discolour at all. I’ve had it for 6 months and still looking fresh as the day I bought it. I also don’t use it while eating food so I do avoid putting greasy fingers on it which I imagine could make it go manky looking
Yeah mine isn’t yellowing at the moment but I am noticing a small amount of dirt building up on the other side where my fingers sit. I’ve not tried cleaning it yet but it seems that it will come off with a bit of soapy water. I’ll remain vigilant on the yellowing though
No, extremely quiet. You can definitely hear the clicks in a silent room but if there’s any ambient noise it’s almost inaudible. Same with the scroll, if the mag scroll is enabled it’s silent. With the ridges (poor description sorry) they’re very quiet too. I rarely hear it during use and is A LOT quieter than the Apple Magic Mouse
Does the Logi Options+ app continuously run in the background? I noticed many reviews saying that sometimes, the saved customisations stop working randomly, have you noticed anything like that?
No I never have the app running in the background. I only fire up the app to tweak or change a custom button. I’ve not had the custom controls stop working on me. Sometimes the gesture control don’t respond as expected but I can’t tell if that’s user error or a bug. All the custom buttons and scroll are reliable though.
I've used a Master 3S with Windows for a few years, and I use app specific settings for Photoshop, and they work without Options being open. One thing I will say is that I am using Options and not Options+. When I installed Options+ it all turned to custard and stopped working. I can't speak for Mac OS - I have just ordered a Macbook Pro M2 Pro as when I looked into it, its a much better laptop than any of the Windows laptops. I rather think I will get a Master 3S for the MBP when it turns up, which is why I am watching this video.
@@TrevorDennis100 currently I am using master 3S with windows 11 and logi options+. Sometimes the saved customisations stop working. It happened a few times. When it happens, I just open the logi options+ once and the mouse starts working again with the preset customs. I honestly think the product is over priced though. I use this mouse for 12+ hours a day and the functionalities are good. But I will not purchase it again. It's good but ridiculously expensive.
99% of the time no I have no issues, and I use all those on Bluetooth. I do, on very very rare occasions have everything disconnect and reconnect. It’s everything though so I’m not sure if that’s a Mac thing or Bluetooth. But it’s so rare and so instant it’s not really a problem. I have experienced issues with my Apple Magic Mouse strange lag and jitters but I was in an enclosed space, right next to a WiFi router etc and that caused issues.
Sooooo I bought the Master 3S today----and I'm already considering returning it. It's a great mouse----but I can already feel my hand/wrist getting fatigued and having pain. ...which is weird, because I've used an Apple Magic Mouse for years. Guess I'm so used to the "Claw Grip" ... I might try the Anywhere 3S for Mac and see. Meh... Oh well.
Really interesting you’re getting pains with it. I would have thought you’d still end up holding it the same way. Is your grip on it different to how you hold your Magic Mouse? Has it got any better for you since commenting a few days ago?
Hmm, I don't have any issues with mine BUT it is the Mac specific version. Yours is the one with the dongle right? I can't imagine there's any reason why it would have any issues though. The only other thing I can think is potentially your environment. Do you have a lot of other bluetooth stuff connected or are you surrounded by other electrical stuff? When I was in a previous office I used to be in a narrow space and right next to a WiFi router. My Magic Mouse used to jitter and lag. Not all the time but there was often interference and very frequent. I then tried moving to a different space, further away from the router and in a more open area and it solved the issue! Definitely worth looking at the area you're operating in. Hope that can help a little.
If you're using a dock, or can be bothered to plug and unplug it when you move your laptop, you definitely want the dongle latency is noticably less than over bluetooth, atleast for me using a high refresh rate screen.
Yeah I can’t say I’ve noticed it in the slightest. Between my 60hz second monitor and my M1 Pro Max Mac with that screen that goes up to 120 it still feels exactly the same to me. But I’m also not doing anything that latency would impact so maybe that’s why I don’t notice?
No, none. I was speaking to someone else about this though and from a previous experience, funnily enough with the Magic Mouse, I found that I was getting jitters, lag and all sorts and believe the cause was because of interference from WiFi and other Bluetooth. Could try moving your setup or the things around you, at least to confirm if that’s it or not
Someone commented this on my video. Personally I can’t say I notice anything at all. To me it’s instant but I know some people are extremely sensitive to latency 🤷🏼♂️ In my opinion there’s no latency with this mouse but I’m using a Mac, and both the Mac and mouse are on the latest firmware. They do keep pushing updates to the mouse / Logitech app too adding features so i don’t see why you’d have any issues
No problem. There’s been a couple of small changes since I recorded it. They updated the logic app so you can actually have a more natural scroll. It’s not perfect as still working from ‘lines’ to scroll be definitely better. I also learned the mouse does have acceleration. This can be found in your Mac settings but it was already on for me. When I turned it off the mouse was incredibly responsive/ sensitive so left it on.
@@harrisonmudge thanks! I am looking for this mouse for 2 reasons: 1) I used to use first version many years ago and it was fantastic. 2) I started to have a wrist pain from Magic Mouse. After watching your video I still want to try it, but now more sceptical if it will will my issue :D
Yeah it’s a good mouse. It would depend on hand size to know if it would truly solve your issues though as like I show in the video, the hand position while slightly better many not be ‘ergonomic’ enough. But it might. A friend of mine has the super ergonomic one m, that’s basically a sideways mouse so your hand and wrist is completely neutral. That did definitely help his wrist pain. He used to just use a track pad the whole time so having a mouse at all I think helped him a lot but that was really gentle to his wrist
@@harrisonmudge yeah, let's see. Have a delivery today and then 2 weeks of testing before I can return that. Hope it will be enough to get rid of Magic mouse grip
It’s like comparing tractors with mustangs, they are both great at what they do and cannot be compared. Magic Mouse is no mouse you can compare to the mx master. One is a trackpad on a moving device and the mx master is a specialized device and only being a mouse.
Interesting analogy 😅 which one is the mustang in this situation cuz I’ll take that one 😂 To be pedantic I’d say they’re more similar than that but I hear you. So you use or have you tried both? Which do you prefer?
interesting review. i'm the opposite. there's no world where i think the apple mouse is comfortable or what i want. I' ve never been a fan. I've had third party normal mouses, i've never like swiping, i prefer actual buttons. i've always preferred buttons. so for me this sounds like exactly what i'd like. myu parents have apple mice and i've never thought it was well designed and not ergonomic. I have read get the pc version and take the dongle for less latency.
Yeah the Apple mouse was a little crippling to start but I learned to claw it. The Logitech is definitely a lot nicer now i've had more time with it. I have the magic mouse in my bag for emergencies when I'm away from my desk and it feels like a tiny pebble now in comparison. I do really like the swiping and I'm even considering getting an Apple Magic trackpad so I can have my Logitech in my right hand and the trackpad for my left for gestures. Reason being my MacBook is raised so while not a pain to reach, it's a much more deliberate action than reaching just off to the left of my keyboard. Yeah I heard the same about the dongle but to be honest, one I don't want to have to have a dongle for a dongle and two, the latency isn't something I've noticed.
Harrison did you really just take several hours telling us the Master 3S is a different shape to the Magic Mouse. I don't want to be mean, but I was losing the will to live there for the first few hours, and then you carried on talking about it several hours more! Woah! Did you really just say that you set sensitivity to the max to save time? Regards the Master 3S being linear, do you know about Smart Shift which you can set up and control in Options?
Jezus wept in a bucket! You are still doing it. I really want to know about this stuff, which is why I am still hear, but by heck, if there is anyone in this world who takes longer getting to the point, I hope I never encounter them.
Definitely didn’t take several hours. You might have your RUclips set to quarter speed if it took you that long. On that note if you think I take too long to get to the point you could always speed me up, up to 2x 😄 I appreciate you coming back for more of the content too. And FYI I do LOVE to talk. You should see how long the full recording was, this is a snippet in comparison.
I love this mouse, but Logitech is a horrid company. Soon after I got it, it dropped their customizable Logitech Plus software…. So now, this $100 mouse is just like any other. Because Logitech won’t update their software (it simply just crashes everytime it’s loaded), you have to buy a 3rd party software to unlock the ability to customize. Because of this, it’s a $50 mouse, at best….more people need to realize this.
Not sure what you mean bud? It still has an app Logi Connect or something similar that enables you to fully customise the mouse. Definitely worth double checking if you’ve got the right app.
@@harrisonmudge have the app. The app freezes every time it’s attempted to open. Delete, reinstall, attempt to open and it freezes. On top of that, it just runs and runs in the background process. It’s done this for months and plenty of discussion on Reddit about it.

Yeah I know what you mean. I learned to use it but it is an ergonomic nightmare for a lot of people. Like I say, I learned to use a claw grip but it took some time to get over the initial awkwardness. It's a shame other third part manufacturers can't implement the same controls. At least then there could be a choice for the type or shame of mouse out there. Right now it's either a small crippling pebble with amazing touch controls or a more comfortable grip but with just standard buttons.

To be fair you've got enough headaches to deal with using After Effects already! Don't need anything else adding to that!
If you turn it off the Logitech is even more sensitive 😅
To dial it in you may need to tweak the Tracking speed as mine was on Fast (all the way to the right) so the acceleration isn't as noticeable. If you dial the tracking speed back the sense of acceleration is more noticeable.
My Mac OS is on Sonoma FYI.
Hopefully this helps you bud 👌🏻
Got one just yesterday and I think it's being great so far. Trying to figure out how to swipe from one desktop screen to the other
Nice! As standard the swipe gestures are assigned to the thumb button. (Hard to see but there’s a little line on the bottom of the curve where your thumb sits, that’s the button under that area)
Then you have to hold it down and move the whole mouse left or right to “swipe” the screen over. Up gives you the window previews. Down I’m not particularly clear what it’s doing 😅
Love my magic mouse, but have a KVM to switch between PC and MAC and annoyed at having two mice on the desk.
This has a button to cycle through 3 devices. In theory you should be able to swap between them?
Unless you have the one with the dongle perhaps?
Do you know if the variety which is not "for Mac" will work well with Mac too?
Yeah im pretty sure it will. The only difference for my understanding is the one not “for Mac” comes with a dongle.
Definitely more comfortable for those with larger hands though
does it support 3 finger gesture in mac to switching btn windows ?
@@harrisonmudge I have an app where scrolling down with my Magic Mouse is always smooth, but with the Logitech mouse always scrolls at least 10 lines.
Does it yellow? I've read several reviews recommending the Space Gray version over Pale Gray.
I’ve personally not noticed it discolour at all. I’ve had it for 6 months and still looking fresh as the day I bought it.
I also don’t use it while eating food so I do avoid putting greasy fingers on it which I imagine could make it go manky looking
it does yellow, at least the thumb area
Yeah mine isn’t yellowing at the moment but I am noticing a small amount of dirt building up on the other side where my fingers sit. I’ve not tried cleaning it yet but it seems that it will come off with a bit of soapy water.
I’ll remain vigilant on the yellowing though
@@harrisonmudge same here, I caught it in time, cleaned it with soap and water and it came off. Now I will do that regularly so it stays nice.
Is it loud? Like the clicking action of the buttons and scroll wheel...
@@harrisonmudge Thank you so much for your response. I'm going to give it a try.
@Rani.Dutta. No problem 😃
Did you find any connectivity issues when working with several bluetooth devices, like keyboard + mouse + headset?
99% of the time no I have no issues, and I use all those on Bluetooth. I do, on very very rare occasions have everything disconnect and reconnect. It’s everything though so I’m not sure if that’s a Mac thing or Bluetooth. But it’s so rare and so instant it’s not really a problem.
I have experienced issues with my Apple Magic Mouse strange lag and jitters but I was in an enclosed space, right next to a WiFi router etc and that caused issues.
@@harrisonmudge thank you so much!
No problem 👌🏻
With the logi one, you can adjust the dpi level to the speed you want.
Yeah I’ve definitely found my personal sweet spot. You can crank it up but it goes insanely fast!
is it lagging on mac ? because Logi MX master 3s (without mac badge) is lagging and nothing helps to resolve this with mac m1 pro
Hope that can help a little.
does it support 3 finger gesture?
It does mimic some of the functions yes when you use the thumb button. Not as graceful but still keeps the functionality of window swiping etc
Any difference in the one that’s for windows and Mac ?
As far as I’m aware the only real difference is the one “for Mac” doesn’t have the Bluetooth dongle.
But I’m also not doing anything that latency would impact so maybe that’s why I don’t notice?
are you getting any lag or jitter issues on Mac?
No, none. I was speaking to someone else about this though and from a previous experience, funnily enough with the Magic Mouse, I found that I was getting jitters, lag and all sorts and believe the cause was because of interference from WiFi and other Bluetooth.
Could try moving your setup or the things around you, at least to confirm if that’s it or not
Hey, Ive read that the mouse has a lot of lag when used on Bluetooth, is it still very bad? have there been any updates by Logi to make it better?
Someone commented this on my video. Personally I can’t say I notice anything at all. To me it’s instant but I know some people are extremely sensitive to latency 🤷🏼♂️ In my opinion there’s no latency with this mouse but I’m using a Mac, and both the Mac and mouse are on the latest firmware. They do keep pushing updates to the mouse / Logitech app too adding features so i don’t see why you’d have any issues
Is it better than apple magic mouse bit had me giggling. Any mouse is better than the magic mouse xD
😅 True! Magic mouse is awesome for the gesture and touch stuff. Just an awful shape!
thanks for comparing between Magic mouse and this one, this is exactly what I have been trying to understand
Logitech supports acceleration as well.
Say what?! How? Is it in the Logitech Connect app???? I need to know
@@harrisonmudge Go to system settings > Mouse > Advanced
@joe2254 yeah turns out it was already on! Feels even crazier with it disabled!
It’s like comparing tractors with mustangs, they are both great at what they do and cannot be compared. Magic Mouse is no mouse you can compare to the mx master. One is a trackpad on a moving device and the mx master is a specialized device and only being a mouse.
Interesting analogy 😅 which one is the mustang in this situation cuz I’ll take that one 😂
To be pedantic I’d say they’re more similar than that but I hear you. So you use or have you tried both? Which do you prefer?
I just wish the magic mouse didn't have sharp edges, the magic is so magic
This is true but then it would be a slippery pebble on the table and no were to hold it 😅 ignoring the claw you still need to hold it!
@@harrisonmudge but don't you use the claw grip on none apple mice?
interesting review. i'm the opposite. there's no world where i think the apple mouse is comfortable or what i want.
On that note if you think I take too long to get to the point you could always speed me up, up to 2x 😄
I appreciate you coming back for more of the content too.
And FYI I do LOVE to talk. You should see how long the full recording was, this is a snippet in comparison.
apple magic mouse has shit ergonomics
Great for claws 🦞 that’s about it 😅
the apple mouse is no good i love the mx master 3s
Yeah i appreciate it more and more every day 👌🏻
I love this mouse, but Logitech is a horrid company.
@@NOT_A_TOP_FAN Windows or Mac? The app is called Logi Options+ now. I swear it's changed though so is it the Options+ app you're using or a different?
@jonny_laguna is this a joke? Can you even afford the mouse to make a comment? Because clearly you don’t have it.
I just wish the magic mouse didn't have sharp edges, the magic is so magic
Yeah I know what you mean. I learned to use it but it is an ergonomic nightmare for a lot of people. Like I say, I learned to use a claw grip but it took some time to get over the initial awkwardness. It's a shame other third part manufacturers can't implement the same controls. At least then there could be a choice for the type or shame of mouse out there. Right now it's either a small crippling pebble with amazing touch controls or a more comfortable grip but with just standard buttons.
