    I found the same issue; they use to change the fit of the shoes for each one of their different models; it's very frustrating

      @harrisonmudge 9 часов назад

      Yeah it is very frustrating at times. Especially when there’s a style you like but it just doesn’t fit. I’ve said before but I’d have a pair of almost every style they make if I could but they don’t all fit me 🥲

      Yeah I know what you mean. I learned to use it but it is an ergonomic nightmare for a lot of people. Like I say, I learned to use a claw grip but it took some time to get over the initial awkwardness. It's a shame other third part manufacturers can't implement the same controls. At least then there could be a choice for the type or shame of mouse out there. Right now it's either a small crippling pebble with amazing touch controls or a more comfortable grip but with just standard buttons.

      Uncomfortable or comfortable? 😅 I tried the Ababa. The width was amazing and so was the feel but it just just way too short in the length! It was like it was a size down but it was supposed to be a UK 14. Was pretty gutted as I really liked them.

    Wonder if the Gobi sneakers will get discontinued faster than the Gobi boot? Bought the bracken color Gobi boot when it came out. I was gonna buy the black boots but they're already discontinued. Looks like the Gobi sneaker is the replacement.

    • @harrisonmudge
      @harrisonmudge 2 дня назад

      Hmm, it could be that they've just sold out of the boot and wont restock till the winter. If you keep an eye on their range you'll notice they have some "forever stock" or whatever the term is which means they stock all year round with some seasonal colourways to mix things up. Then you have their seasonal range which, as you'd expect they stock for the season, run a sale on any remaining till they run out then you won't see them again till next season. I'm not certain but It could be that the Gobi boot was a seasonal shoe. It was also a new style so perhaps they wanted to test the popularity near end of season to get a bit of demand without committing. Purely speculative on that but based on experience the seasonal thing is the most likely. Unless they had horrendous quality / manufacturing issues.

    Freet shoes, a small UK company, that make fantastic fitting shoes. Crucially, the shoes do not begin to curve inwards, untill they are past the big toe. i.e. on the inside of the foot, its almost a straight line, from the heal until past the big toe. I have three pairs, and they were actually how I discovered barefoot shoes in the first place. I encountered their stall at a food trade fare, was just curious, and chatted with the company owned. In hind sight, a life changing moment. The older designs are, if I am honest, not that pretty, but the newer models look good. The main thing however is the fit. It's just really great. Also the prices are good, and its a UK company! I have run Ultras in their Feldom (I tried the Xero Messa Trail first, got toe blisters, too narrow!) and my every day show is the Pace, lasted 3 seasons so far, apart from summer, where I wear almost exclusively Bedrock Cairn Sandals. For fit and comfort, I really rate Freet.

    • @harrisonmudge
      @harrisonmudge 4 дня назад

      I had a look at Freet after your comment as they sounded super interesting but when I checked out some of their range they only went up to a UK 12 😓 gutted as would like to try them but not even close to my size

    • @harrisonmudge
      @harrisonmudge 5 дней назад

      Hmm, I don't have any issues with mine BUT it is the Mac specific version. Yours is the one with the dongle right? I can't imagine there's any reason why it would have any issues though. The only other thing I can think is potentially your environment. Do you have a lot of other bluetooth stuff connected or are you surrounded by other electrical stuff? When I was in a previous office I used to be in a narrow space and right next to a WiFi router. My Magic Mouse used to jitter and lag. Not all the time but there was often interference and very frequent. I then tried moving to a different space, further away from the router and in a more open area and it solved the issue! Definitely worth looking at the area you're operating in. Hope that can help a little.

    would these be a good starter barefoot shoe? also whats the sizing like im a 42 in Birkenstocks but not sure if id be the same in this

    • @harrisonmudge
      @harrisonmudge 13 дней назад

      Yeah I’d say so. They have the slightly thicker outsole, combined with the thermal insole and it’s reasonably cushioned enough not to be uncomfortable if you’re starting out. Size wise, if I’m not mistaken the Birkenstock are pretty similar length measurements to vivo so I’d say you’ll likely be good going for a 42 still. 👌🏻

    Hi Harrison, love these shoes but asl I feel is running small, I wonder if you have the chance to go by a size up you think these will be the solution?

    • @harrisonmudge
      @harrisonmudge 16 дней назад

      I’m really not sure. I think for me anyway, going up a size if I could probably wouldn’t solve their narrowness. My feet were pressed to the sides as soon as they were on my feet so I can only imagine after wearing them for a few hours they would get worse. If you’re on the fence with them yourself, I’d suggest sizing up if you can for the length assuming your foot width is average. If you’ve got wide feet unfortunately I wouldn’t recommend them. You don’t have to take my word though as Vivo have the 100 day free trial so you can always give them a go yourself and return if they’re not a fit 👌🏻

    Dude - love your videos. I've commented on your stuff in the past as I'm also UK14 - what size did you buy these in as I only saw them in UK13... did they stock them in 14? BigFooters not getting the proper love we deserve.

    • @harrisonmudge
      @harrisonmudge 24 дня назад

      Hey bud, thanks for the kind words! Yeah I got these in a UK 14. Not sure if they're back in stock at time of writing but they also added a canvas type version so worth double checking. I always check out their site every so often as they add stuff on there without too much promotion. Not sure why. For example they're adding a couple of other shoes such as Primus Lite "3.5" which is using a new material. But I've seen nothing about them through ads, emails or even their home page. I often just stumble onto them. It is a real shame these and the Novus ran small. Both look so cool. And yeah, us larger footed folk definitely get the raw end of the deal at present! Vivobiome is definitely a step in the right direction but it'll take some time for that concept to become more ubiquitous.

    Hello Harrison, The Vivobarefoot Primus Lite shoes which I run in are the older ones with a tongue, but this one being more of a sock design, are they as comfortable as the older one with the separate tongue please ?

    • @harrisonmudge
      @harrisonmudge 26 дней назад

      Hey, good question. And I’d say it might depend on your fit preference and how the knit will fit your foot. The regular Primus lite can be looser or tighter depending on how you do the laces whereas from my experience with the knit, it’s naturally going to feel a bit more ‘snug’ because of the sock like element. Which you can then make tighter with the laces. You can still get both, the regular Primus lite and then the Primus Lite knit so you’ve got the choice. Personally I really like the snug feel of the knit but unless you’re sensitive to that I don’t think you can go wrong with either as they’re both a nice fit overall.

  • @natew4494
    @natew4494 26 дней назад

    The outsoles may look thinker but Xero intentionally recesses the insole, giving the appearance from the outside (rim) that there’s more sole then there really is, if that makes sense. Love my Xeros, but then again I have narrower feet, so no issues with the toe box. Love the warranty they give to their outsoles btw. Their tread material is more durable and comfortable than any other barefoot I’ve tried while still ensuring a real ground feel.

    • @harrisonmudge
      @harrisonmudge 26 дней назад

      Yeah makes sense. It is a shame they didn’t fit but I think overall their shape just isn’t a match for my foot shape. I do respect what they’re trying to do though 👌🏻

    interesting review. i'm the opposite. there's no world where i think the apple mouse is comfortable or what i want. I' ve never been a fan. I've had third party normal mouses, i've never like swiping, i prefer actual buttons. i've always preferred buttons. so for me this sounds like exactly what i'd like. myu parents have apple mice and i've never thought it was well designed and not ergonomic. I have read get the pc version and take the dongle for less latency.

    • @harrisonmudge
      @harrisonmudge Месяц назад

      Yeah the Apple mouse was a little crippling to start but I learned to claw it. The Logitech is definitely a lot nicer now i've had more time with it. I have the magic mouse in my bag for emergencies when I'm away from my desk and it feels like a tiny pebble now in comparison. I do really like the swiping and I'm even considering getting an Apple Magic trackpad so I can have my Logitech in my right hand and the trackpad for my left for gestures. Reason being my MacBook is raised so while not a pain to reach, it's a much more deliberate action than reaching just off to the left of my keyboard. Yeah I heard the same about the dongle but to be honest, one I don't want to have to have a dongle for a dongle and two, the latency isn't something I've noticed.

    You need to tighten the sandals really tight so that they kinda contort to your foot when you lift your feet. Those also look like a size bigger. Try the smaller size. When properly sized and tightented they don't flop around at all and that super thin sole is the closest you'll get to barefoot and feels amazing. The Genesis is even better for ground feel.

      Yeah but that's the problem. They were the BIGGEST size I can buy! Agree if you're around a 10 lets say then you can size up or down accordingly. I'm a UK 14, and no one (or at least not many) go beyond that. Also, these were too narrow rather than too short, so I don't think they'd have got any better even if I sized up :(

And when it comes to how they’re made, the leather is great, instantly so soft and supple and flexible, and they’re leather lined internally too so they feel great under foot with or without socks on 👌🏻 What about you bud?

      @rosswiegel4751 oh that’s odd. Interesting it’s only on the one foot though. That could be due to the leather as it’s ‘less processed’ it’s someone uneven in its feel. But for me the whole shoe was supple from the beginning. That said I think my white pair probably are a little stiffer relative to my black pair. I’d never say give them time to break in if they’re uncomfortable as I feel they should feel great from the start. But my black ones which I got first and have worn more are ‘looser’ in that respect. Personal preference whether you stick with them though. Yes still love the magna’s. I wear those less in summer as they’re a bit warm. The Primus Lite Knit are back on too for the summer yes. They’re a great casual trainer for shorts in the summer. Although we’re yet to see the summer in the UK. I hear it’s close though but right now wellies are more appropriate!

    I had a similar experience with this brand, I ordered the court ones and a knit pair with some clearance sandles. I absolutely love my primus iii lites so I was hoping I’d feel the same about these but with a more normal style, and even though I ordered the right size they definitely felt tight. I’m a 12.5 and on their sizing chart it lined up right with the length, but I’d agree that the shoes taper too early and feel narrow for a wide toe box shoe. They don’t have as good of a return policy as Vivo either, I ended up losing $50 on shipping and $30 for a restocking fee, so I’m not going back to the brand and just sticking with Vivos.

    Hey there, I just got into the barefoot world and bought the Merrell Wrapt and Merrell Trail Glove 7. I really like the Trail Glove 7, the feel and the grip for the ground is excellent, although it's not as wide as I expected to be, but it's very stretchy so yeah, it kind of fits my foot really well and I can wear no socks in them. They have also a small cushioning technology there so they feel very plush at the same time. The Merrell Wrapt is wider though and I can wear thicker socks in them. They are definitely more durable thanks to the pig leather and can work as light hiking shoes or city movers without a problem. They have no cushioning but the quantum grip outsole is pretty massive so it works like a cushioning little bit. I suggest you try these. I'm not sure why but Merrell seems to be kind of forgotten among the barefoot community. Keep up the good work!

    Yeah, I guess it's just a problem with having feet at the highest end of the usual production scale. I haven't had issues with my Xero shoes, but I've only been in barefoot shoes for about 10 months, so my feet could still get wider. I also only wear a size 10 so I have some movement. One of the wildest sizing issues I had was with Lems. The website said to go up half a size for the Chillum shoes, so I got a 10.5, and they felt like a size 9. So I had to send them back to the store and get an 11.5 for them to fit properly. Very strange. But just looking at the shoes I have, the most obvious looking ones are the Splay Freestyle. They come to a pretty hard point on the big toe. Also the Be Lenka Winter Boot 3.0 is very clown-like, so I would imagine other Be Lenka shoes are just as wide.

    • @harrisonmudge
      @harrisonmudge Месяц назад

      Yeah it’s wild how the sizing fluctuates. And I’ve realised that the websites usually give a general rule on sizing rather than individual shoes. Although some actually do so I don’t want to tarnish all with the same brush. Guess it’s all about just finding the brand and where you fit in their sizes. I just shoot for the 14 as it’s usually the max size anyway and I’m actually yet to put a pair of 14 that a too big 😅

    Appreciate this is a dirt cheap way of backing up massive amounts of data from all those drives you have, but having to plug them in every 30 days is pretty clunky and it means you’re tied to the office where they’re stored. Another safer option is to use Google workspace which comes with TBs of data per user, then you use a service called Cubebackup to backup your data to BackblazeB2. CubeBackup can run every hour and this would mean you have a cloud to cloud backup running from your own server. This backup system can even be operated using a Virtual Machine with AWS (or your local server) With this system you totally do away with external hard drives.

    An interesting thing I found with the Xero: I compared it to the ON running shoes I have: the Xero were approximately the same on the sole! In fact, I still explain what's different, because I feel more space in the Xero (fortunately): the Xero have a maximum of half a centimeter more toe box, but not even sure there's that much.. On the other hand, what differentiates the two: the Xero HFS that I have have a stretchy fabric above and which widens. As a result, my toes can easily move to the side. It's so flexible and thin that I don't feel stuck. (My feet are between normal and thin, I think. I don't have wide feet or big toes. In terms of fashion, I think I have "beautiful feet": thin, athletic. Without wanting to denigrate anyone either, but more to give a visualization.) (You also have to take into account the overall shape of the foot. My toes have a decreasing length but... especially from the second toe onwards. I don't have a really longer or even bigger big toe. This is why the Vivo seemed excessive to me (I explain this in my other message.))

    • @harrisonmudge
      @harrisonmudge Месяц назад

      yeah mine aren't the widest, just 'big' with a large big toe with the rest tapering so I never feel like my little toes get crushed but i'm very sensitive to my big toes being boxed in. Mad how such subtle differences can impact the fit dramatically.

    For my part, I bought my first barefoot shoes last month. Took Xero, returned (not the right size), tried Vivo, returned (I'll explain), ordered Xero (not the right size), ordered Xero (right size). In fact, unlike you, when I put on the Vivo, I immediately felt that they were horrible for me: I didn't understand anything: the shoe had a lot of room for the big toe, it was much too big for me and conversely, I had no room for my little toe. In fact, my little toe was AGAINST the edge of the shoe, tight. Then my fourth toe had 5mm of space, ok. Then my third was 10mm, ok. Then my second was 15 mm, it's still too big... And my big toe was 20 mm!!! And on the side, on the big one, I had a lot of space, and on the side of my little toe, I was tight, completely against it! For the Xero I was hesitant to return them: their problem is that they are not clear about the size of their shoes. I was made fun of on their site. I gave the HFS 2/5 for several reasons while at the same time I say that they are worth 9/10 :-p (sizing problem, no response from customer service, saying take half size more while it's not even 0.5 cm larger, but seems to be between 0 and 0.5 cm smaller, not 0.5...) For the Vivo, I had never been so uncomfortable in a pair of shoes in my life. :-p Feeling too weird. (hope my english not too bad, not my first language)

As a Canadian I don't think they are worth the price. USD to CAD exchange is often brutal, especially after duties & shipping. I'd rather buy another pair of Vivos off of Revivo or splurge for a fresh pair from Vivo. That said, the soles on the Xeros last WAY WAY longer than my Vivos do which is why I continue to wear them. I've worn through the soles of a few pairs of my "daily" Vivos over the years, but I've yet to wear down the Xeros.
