Great video. I had never thought about removing a good dash that way. What I always did 35-40 years ago was use the dash pad as a cover for where I sawzall across the cab from left to right or right to left directly under the dash pad. Then spot welded it back in and covered it with a dash pad. That way you don’t have to remove the windshield if you don’t want to. Give me a “like” if you agree. Thanks
I don't think GM EVER thought that in 50 years guys would love these trucks and put in all the work we do, it was just a tool back then! Nor do I think they thought these trucks would still be around, haha obviously they learned there lesson, trucks aren't built this way anymore! Thanks for the video! I'm currently about to pull apart my 1970 c20 factory ac box (under dash and under hood) I need to clean it out, replace the heater core and the duct hoses and also the blower motor, I might make a video since I Can't find one for factory ac box, nice video thanks for showing a dash removal(although unessisary for what I'm doing) but still interesting! Thanks
No they are not! Nothing is build the way it used to be. You should make that video! If it's not out there already it will most likely help some people trying to do the same repair. That is one of the reasons I started making these video, because they didn't exist and I knew that it would help someone along the way.
Thanks John! Kind of goofy how they did that huh? Just one more thing to weld back onto this truck. Is that your truck in your profile picture? That thing is sweet!
-7°, time to get the barbecue grill out. Lol I was seriously thinking about cold starting my Camaro tomorrow. I'm still on the fence about that one. Thanks for watching!
Yea try restoring a 2022 model in 2072.Don't think when they built these vehicles they were thinking of restoring them 50yrs down the road, just like we don't.
Good video short n sweet. Bet editing was short n sweet too. Lol Nice score on that dash. You get that from junkyard by your house? Oh and I heard -55 to -60 wind chill. Wanna hang out tomorrow 🥶Looks like I got a few more days off from work. Gotta love it. Keep the videos coming
Yeah it's going to be nice and cold tomorrow. I was seriously thinking about cold starting the Camaro tomorrow and filming it.... filming it blow up that is! Lol I got that cowl about 10 minutes from my house. Yeah get ahold of me.
Hey I have a question and I need your feed back I have a 350 I’m cleaning up out of a 91 Chevy and I want to know if my old intake will fit and if my disburater will to I think I member something of you haveing a problem with your disburater but I can’t member
The intake should be fine as long as it's for a small block without vortec heads. As far as the distributor, as long as it's a distributor for Chevy it shouldn't be an issue just make sure you set the number one cylinder to top dead center before throwing it in. I'm guessing other car makers have maybe a different tooth count gears on their distributor.
K thanks! And I’m trying to save a motor that came in a old 91 that it was Destroyed! And had a MAJOR rats nest and the windows were busted and the truck had been siting for 14 years but I got the truck home and pulled the intake and stuff and oh boy SO MUCH SLUGE!!! Like literally there was like a inch and half of sludge and I’m (Trying to save it lol) and suprisly the motor wasn’t locked up
And I paid 175 bucks for the truck and I found 140 in the truck lol the money was so nasty and old from like the 96 lol so I paid like 35 bucks for the truck lmao
@@waterzonegt9179 I would call that a great score! That 305 that I put in the Camaro had a lot of sludge in it too. I basically just spray it down with brake cleaner when I had the oil pan off, then coated it with fresh oil before I put the pan back on.
Busted Classic Garage yea it was a score for sure but I don’t think I’ll pull the pan I think I’m just going to get it started for about a minute and pull that sucker! And drop it into my 67 c10 but I’m for sure going to have to take a hour or two, to clean it tho and I have to pull the exhaust manifolds Bc there’s rat turds in it and sticks lol so I’m going to take them off lol for the start up the truck had 96 k idk if it rolled over but I hope it didn’t
I guess it just depends on what you're doing with the truck. I wanted to have access to that area, this way I can strip all the paint and rust from behind the dash and the backside of the firewall with ease and not have to do that work on my back.
Hey how easy is it to rebuild a 350? I’m only 14 and all into motors I’ve always wanted to take my motor that was bad apart and buy the parts to rebuild it what’s your opinion? I mean I have to learn somewhere right? And I know 99% more then any other 14 year old that I know like I’ve always understood how they go together tho
It's not too hard to rebuild an engine. There is some know how that goes into it and some specialty tools that you're going to need. I would definitely do some reading before you start tearing it apart. I bought a book back in the day called Haynes Techbook Chevrolet engine overhaul manual, that book was very informative and tells you step-by-step procedures on disassembly, inspection, reassembly. There's so many books these days and so much stuff online it's amazing. But I would honestly start with getting a book and reading through it. It's nice that everything's online these days but when you're doing something like that Hands-On it's always nice to have a physical copy next to you for reference. You also have to make a small investment in tools, the nice thing though is AutoZone, O'Reilys, Advance have a free tool rental program where you could rent things like cylinder honing tool for example. But I would say, make a game plan and go for it. It's the best way to learn.
Nice instruction. Very well done with quality photography & editing. Thanks for producing this.
No problem, thanks for watching! I just picked up another C10, this should be a wild build! Stay tuned!

Thank you for posting this. You helped me not waste time trying to remove a dash so I could simply repaint it. Time to get busy with masking tape...
No problem!
My thoughts too considering I don’t know how to weld. If I did, this method would make for a really nice painted dash & firewall.

Nice Bart. You made it look easy. Those separating tools are the trick.
That's funny I usually make things look way more difficult than they really are... Lol I'm so glad I got those tools.
Yes sir! Another quality video brother. Keep it up and stay warm...
Thanks man! I'm trying to...
Nice info never new the dash was welded in. I have a 1970
Thanks John! Kind of goofy how they did that huh? Just one more thing to weld back onto this truck. Is that your truck in your profile picture? That thing is sweet!
Busted Classic Garage yes sir 1970 cst 20. Love that old truck
Nice man. I wouldn't have guessed it was welded on like that. Learned something new. Oh and -49!? Here I am in PA worrying about -7 tomorrow 😂

Hey got the motor cleaned up lol took couple hours going to drop the intake on tomorrow
Nice, getting it done!
I got the disburater in and plugs on and intake on just got to bolt on the carb and put oil in it this weekend
Good video short n sweet. Bet editing was short n sweet too. Lol

I'm undecided on whether I'll pull the dash out. I'm hoping that I won't have to.

I guess they thought the dash would never need to come out...soo they went ham on all the spot welds and bolts🤪
Steve yes they did. LOL

Busted Classic Garage yea I’ll for sure do alot of research and my dad has TONS of tools so I think I should be good there

Why weld it back? I wouldn't want to screw with that a second time?
I don't plan on removing it again, plus the way it's welded there is no other way to reattach it, unless I use panel adhesive.
I would atleast modify it so its removable
I've thought about it. Won't be easy, you would have to bend the window channel section on the dash downward. Might address it in a future video.
1:10 Where the hell are you?..
The cold frozen north of Illinois! Lol
