    I found out that the 8k footage is way cleaner with higher ISO. I made a lot of test shots and you get at least 1 stop better performance when it comes to noise. 8k ISO 12800 has the same if not even slightly better noise levels than 4k 6400. Doesn't matter if All intra full frame or crop mode.

    @sols9449 Год назад +4

    Very important as well you can call this a hybrid stills camera as well. Medium raw and crop mode both shoot at 26mp so if you want to get your portrait session in at 61 then switch to a more normal MP mode you can. Plus in crop you can automatically zoom in Without changing lenses and still have 26 mp!! Not too shabby.

      If storage is a concern, you can shoot RAW(m) in the A7Rv and get a 26MP oversampled image that looks incredible. But, you still have the option to switch over to full 61MP resolution for those occasions that warrants it (big prints or heavy crop).

      @@RandumbTech nah, storage is not a problem when it comes to raw photos. I am just saying that if you create social media content, here on youtube, and your video is 4k, when you insert a photo in timeline it will become 8Mb even if you recorded at a much higher value.

    Hey Matt, have looked at 4k30/24 APS-C w/ Active? It's supposed to be oversampled from 6.2K, so it's a close to 8K image quality on a 4K timeline, with better stabilization at a penalty of crop and subject separation . This is the mode I'll use if I"m not using 4K60 on this camera, if I have to hand hold or get the sharpest image possible. I'll use my FX3 for low light, gimbal on my Crane M3 as that stabilization is hopeless without a gimbal. Ill wait for A1 Mark II for the improved IBIS and other features, that would get us 8K without much compromise.

    Just a quick correction. Sony has known for years how to fix the issue with the screen on the back. When Sony released the a99 that camera had a screen tilting feature similar to the one on the Sony A7R5. I know because I used it for several years.

    Question: what are the downsides (if any) to putting this camera in 8k 24fps video mode, setting it on a tripod, aiming it as a static wide shot at a stage production or musical performance... and when done... place the 8k footage on an HD timeline and 'zoom in post'? Thus freeing me up to operate a second more mobile camera (likely my FX3). (I do wonder about overheating on an unattended 8k camera... any other concerns I should make note of?)

    @whoismatt I'm a Sony A7iv hybrid wedding shooter. The switch dial from stills to video, is not as precise as I need in a rush wedding situation. Ergonomically is a little bit clunky, and many times I would go from stills to S&Q mode. I prefer the wheel dial like the new Canon R6ii.
    Also, speed switching between modes is a very important key for hybrid shooting to prevent missing an important instant while switching. I would love to see a screen capture of switching from filming in 4k60 and switching to compressed raw stills in Cf Express cards. Or maybe have a 8k graded frame grab to capture a still. What are your thoughts on this?

I was leaning towards HS, but then a big downer came: it only shoots 24p and 60p, and people tell me those are not fully compatible (while 30 fps and 60 fps are). Next question you shot 24p (at least in the 8k, but also in 4k i think) and 60p, can those video's be put in timeline without problems/artifacts?

    I bought it since a good portion of my income comes from wedding videography, and felt the upgrades in AF would be beneficial. I will likely do some wedding photography this year as well... So that's a bonus. One thing I understand is new for video is the face memory feature. I'll be testing that this weekend for sure.
    I also shoot wildlife photos, and it looks good so far, however, I shoot a lot of owls which means higher ISO and more noise. This has concerned me so far in the 6 days with it, but we'll see. Maybe I'll sell my a7iii and wait for an a7v and hope it's got all the goodness of the a7rv.

    But what about rolling shutter? 8K is with 1.25x crop(4K 60p too) and the worst rolling shutter ever - almost 40ms... If you ask me this is what A7r4 should have been, and yes the Canon R5 has many problems but in terms of video shooting is still a better camera (even with the overheating) than the A7r5 and I haven't seen anything negative in this video for this flawed camera that has either a lot of problems or a high price... I just do not see this as a fair review...
    Yes there are new things that are cool like the screen mechanism and the stills-video switch, but this is not a good product or it is overpriced. And I am a Sony user, not a fanboy for any brand. I am just frustrated that I have to buy the A1 if I want a true hybrid or the A7IV because it is much better priced for what it delivers.

      @@whoismatt I am sorry it is just that I see this more like a positive review and I am stil very disappointed from Sony because of this product.
      How is that a good option for film makers if the 4K 60 is heavily cropped (1.25x) with bad aliasing problems (which will show on every wedding with grooms in costumes), 8K is unusable if you move the camera... I do not see this as a main video/stills camera and as a B camera the A7IV is pretty much the same at half the price. So if you do not need the 61mp for stills... how is that a better option than the A7IV? Is the AF that much better to be worth it double the price?
      For me it is a refreshment of the A7r4 and a big frustration that we can not have the tilt&flip mechanism in the A1 and the stills/video switch too. I was a A7r user from their first model up to the 4th which I skipped because it was not worth it with that 8bit video, high price and no small raw option at the time it came out (61mp is too much for most of the tasks). And now I will skip the A7r5 too... Unfortunately the hybrid is the A1 - the one camera that can do everything.
      Canon is going to war too - their new R6II is a serious package for the price of the old one... What I see is Canon is going a gear up, Sony is going a gear down...

      Have you tryed it or do you just repeate others opinions ? Even with old cameras I don't have a rolling shutter problem, because I aviod to pan the camera like crazy or to fast moving objects in the past. By the way I bought the 7R5 and couldn't be more happy. I tested it in detail and found the same results like in this video that has broatcating quality ruclips.net/video/_xcBauyBaNg/видео.html. Taking pictures with the mechanical shutter doesn't have rolloing shutter ether. If you know how to use a tool you can handle every obstical and deliver very good content/work. In my eyes meanwhile all brands deliveres excellent products and in most cases you can't see any diffences in the pictures or videos anymore. I personally don't like the Canon politics, but I appreciate the competition between the verdors that gives me better products year by year.

    • @SimeonKolev
      @SimeonKolev Год назад

      @@duffy2512 I do not like Canon politics too but right now they are one step forward in terms of technology. And yes you can work around the problems but I prefer tools that work and do not make me think all the time how to avoid their problems. And yes I have tried it and 40ms is 10ms worse than the previous worse - A6300-A6600 4K rolling shutter, I hate it. No client will say something but I really do not like it. It is unusable to me especially with longer lenses where the shakes are more visible and the image will dance like jello.
      That is why I really think that A7IV is the better product. I am not switching systems because of that but ... Come on, lets be honest.
      BTW Canon R6II is a much better offer than the A7IV, if they had better lenses for me I was going to think more seriously about switching. But their politics about lens manufacturers and their native 2.0-1.8 primes are stopping me, I like the Sony smaller primes more.

Additionally I can use almost every Lens on the market (adapted or nativ). Especially I‘m in love with the SEL 200-600 attached to the A7mk5 . Also the optics from Sigma, Tamron and many others works really well and here I don’t think that Canon will close that gap soon. 😜

    For weddings too many megapixels. The sony a7 III with its 24 megapixel is the better deal for weddings.

      @@whoismatt I picked my A7Rv up a few days ago and have been testing out the RAW(m) format. It's incredible!! You get a 26MP image that is sooooo good. That's what I plan to shoot 95% of the time. The EVF and 4-way screen make using the camera on a regular basis and absolute joy.
