My new rule of thumb is the next time I have a shit fight on my hands I’m going to ask myself ‘what would Pip do’ what a legend ✊
Let call it “the Pip rule”
Sometimes the greatest adventures start when the racing stops - the legend that is Pip Hare sails on.
Pip, we are all following you first and the leaders second. Great job facing this challenge. Thank you for bringing us along.
the Southern Ocean, a good mood, DIY, sailing, fantastic music, teaching, explaining the weather, ...
THIS is my all-time favourite TV show - no matter how "slow" it may be!
I love it!
Thank you very much Pip 💙
Pip is my hero. Such character. Such fortitude. Such an incredible sailor which comes through ever more clearly now when things have gone sideways. And to top it all off she just taught me a great plastic bag sika spatula trick. Thank you Pip. Thank you very much.
Pip is a true hero, the adversity and those huge challenges never seem to get her down. A legend and an inspiration to us all. Thank you Pip and Merry Christmas where ever you are.
After all that's happened, to see you chipper, smiling and ready for work is an excellent lesson on how to deal with problems in life. Bad day yesterday, and just one day later in the "right, let's get cracking" mindset. Absolutely amazing. You may not have won the race, but you're still a winner in many people's eyes.
I have great respect and admiration for your tenacity and your strength.
What no sun? Pip the smile on your face is enough to warm anyone, your a great credit to your profession we’re watching your journey keeping an eye on you regards buster
More vids Pip!! , dare I say it , this is more interesting than the race 😘
Honestly, seeing how you're dealing with this situation is so inspiring - top job.
Clash, Jam...I loved Pip before, but hearing her music, I love her even more!!!
Oh Pip, thank you so much for this post. Can't wait to see that how your new clew setup goes. I am in Melbourne, Bayside and waiting to see you safe and sound inside port Philip bay. Stay safe
London Calling 🎶😃. Nice to see you in a better mood Pip. You are so strong and still a smile in your face. 👏🍀🍀🍀
Pip, you are the real winner of the Vendee Globe. You are a hero. I love the smile in your face. Greetings from Germany
You don’t have to cross the line first to be winner in this edition of the Vendee Globe. Your indomitable spirit has made you a real winner in everyone’s eyes. To see you working hard to get Medallia sailing quicker is truly inspiring. Who needs sunshine when Pip is smiling? Tears were shed when we all learned of your ‘mishap’ but that will be nothing compared to the tears shed when you step ashore. 😭 Please keep the updates coming as we want to keep following your progress towards Oz. 💐💐💐
Well done Pip. Great to see you smiling and digging in.
After spending most of my life in the racing car/ motorcycle industry I' ve learnt that " the mark of a true professional is somebody who can get themselves out of the sh*t faster than they got into it ".
Your wonderful positive mindset in times of distress is a lesson we can all learn from.
Keep up the good work and the filming it's wonderful stuff !
Pip tu es une guerrière !!! , nous sommes derrière toi du 17
Superb! Absolutely not the adventure you were pursuing this winter, nor the one we were expecting…but this side quest is every bit as engaging to follow in its own way. 😊 I’m always impressed by individual feats of resilience, creativity, resourcefulness, and simple human spirit. That’s why I watch the Vendée Globe. This new adventure is exactly all those things, and I wish you well!
Your adventure suddenly makes the vendée globe 200x more interesting! Thanks for sharing all this!
I agree Pip is a legend in the making. Pip I hope that all of Melbourne turns out to welcome you upon your arrival!
Hi Pip, we have been following your solo sailing for several years now, keep going! We are in Tasmania, if you look our way you might see us waving.
Unbelievable … totally amazed at your skills, all that glue and none on you!🤣
With you every step you share Pip, cup of tea good and don’t forget to raid the larder!
Terrific attitude and technical acumen as always from Pip Hare! A true competitor and fun to watch despite the circumstances. I hope Melbourne pours it on for Pip when she arrives.
Non sono un velista , ma la vendee globe e la tua grande forza, la forza mentale dei navigatori solitari mi affascina.
Grazie PIP !!! Grazie a tutti i partecipanti alla vendee , persone eccezionali.
Ti auguro una tranquilla navigazione verso la costa . Complimenti a te 👏
dear dear Pip! It's sooo good to have news and see how innovative and industrious you are! Good job! You'll see: when arriving at Melbourne, you'll be properly geared! We all are with you! Hats off! Enjoy this time out of the race if you can and have good rests!
Pip, Yet again you show your fantastic focus and tenacity. Getting a Jury rig up so quick was amazing. We are all with and following you, in the last VG you showed the same positive attitude with the rudder repair. Good luck and safe sailing for the trip to oz.
Hero’s get remembered, legends never die! Still going Pip, love it!
Pip you're amazing. Thank you for taking the time to make this video, especially in such uncomfortable conditions. We are all cheering you on.
First class video which is a must watch for all sailors!
Pip I love your spirit. You’ve been my favorite since the last Vendee. Wishing you favorable winds and sea .
Dear Pip, we have come to know you better during this Vendée Globe, you are a magnificent person as well as a talented skipper; I can only express all my gratitude to you for showing us the true spirit with which to face this deep, and sometimes bluer, Ocean.
Been following u for years. U r an excellent sailor and role model for perseverance. Keep smiling, u inspire us all! Hugs from Canada
Thank dear Pip for sharing all the interesting informations about this new adventure of yours even if it's not wanted. for me you remain number one!
So great to see you laugh again!!! Keep on in your special own race. You are really a strong lady ....thanks for your spirit!!!
Pip: you are an inspiration to all who follow you, not only related to sailing but to life itself. You are a perfect example of the lyric of the old Fred Astaire song you "pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and start all over again". And with good cheer!
Perfectly said!
Pip you are the definition of the ROLE MODEL for those who want to be decent and respectful persons, excellent and rigorous professionals, competitive and fearless sailors! RESPECT AND ADMIRATION.
Respect Madame, quel sourire malgré cette galère. Vous êtes vraiment une grande dame. Bon courage
Your upbeat can-do attitude is such an inspiration
I can't wait for episode 2! Great to see your smile back.
Great work Pip, your a true hero.
My favourite sailor doing awesome in the face of adversity again. You and your team are great! Wishing you good winds and seas to bring you into Melbourne.
As mentioned by everyone here, absolutely fabulous to see you back smiling and with such a positive attitude, you are an inspiration to us all ⛵💨🙏
To Pip and her team. Brilliant set of videos. We saw Pip in distress after the dismasting and now smiling and SOLVING THE PROBLEM!!!. The music in the back ground is great. I think the details of the repairs are important for they show her skills and imagination in solving the problems she faces. I'm going to follow her to Melbourne and beyond.
You are amazing. All my pupils know you by now. Have a safe passage!
Hello to the students & teacher, from Eastchester Bay sailors in the Bronx, NY! She is showing skills working with lines and ropes which is called “marlinspike”. If you make friendship bracelets or crochet, you may recognize some knots.
A Massive thank you for taking us on your journey. While not as planned the opportunity to watch your recovery will be invaluable to fellow sailors that find themselves in similar situations. Demonstrating how one overcomes adversity in a truly spectacular setting is a tutorial that ALL will benefit from.
Lemons into Lemonade!
Cheers.
Good morning from central Ohio Pip, you should know that you have an entire sailing community following you and sending you positive thoughts. Keep on pushing forward!
Good day Pip
The great thing about the slow boat to Melbourne is that we get to see more of you! Great to see that you’re in good spirits. Take care of yourself…
Pip, for me (and i am sure for many more) you are just the highlight of this VendeGlobe! Watching you and tehy way you deal with everything is so much more inspiring than seing anyone up front or in the back fleet making fast foiling or non foiling progress!
Bravo Pip, still smiling in spite of everything. Love the video, explanation, positivity and music. I'd almost say you're enjoying yourself. Keep busy, keep smiling, we're all behind you pushing you on. Just don't lose that woolly hat!!
You are a real hero in the face of adversity!! Good luck to you all the way to land 👍💪👍
Love the music Pip, great to see you smiling.
Loving the updates from the Slow Boat to Australia! Keep them coming
Fantastic Pip. Loving seeing your smile back.
🫶 THANK you soo much for sharing all this, I was hoping you could update us but this is better than anything I could hope for. You are forever our MacGyveres and Queen of resilience. Hope it works out and that you can get some rest (and eat something). ATB 🥰
Dear Pip,
it is sooooo good, to see you and your Medallia in a pretty good shape. And I heard your laughing again. 😅😅😅😊
I am so glad for that. 👏👍
So, take care for you and your Medallia. I keep my fingers crossed ✊️✊️🤞🤞
Greetings again from Eckernfoerde / North-Germany
🫶💙⛵️🌊💨🛟🎄🕯🕯🕯
Not even bothering with the race - Pip, my YT time on the VG is dedicated to your epistle. Just love the way you handle adversity. Go lady ..
Pip!, I once read that an ocean race is actually a double challenge race. One getting to the start, and other the race itself. Most of us dream on doing what you are doing. Big hug!!!
Manchester calling! Great to hear you in 'better shape', mentally. You have been so resilient. No, I'm not a sailor, I just admire what you have been doing and how you wearing your heart on your sleeve. Safe sailing Pip. I'll be keeping an eye on your progress towards Melbourne.
Dear Pip, I've only found you very recently through the brilliant daily Vendee Globe updates from Florian "Sea Wolves". While this isn't the adventure I was expecting when i started cheering for you, I will cheer no less for the slow boat to Australia. You rock!
And Sea Worls and official News & Media video. We discovered Pip’s engaging reporting at last Vendee and her tube channel about her prep & biog info.
Thank you! You are so encouraging and show an attitude that will change lives. Mine for sure!
Excited you are coming to Melbourne. Huge admiration for how you are responding to this challenge. Thank you for sharing your expertise with us, dealing with adversity is the most admirable thing.
You really showi the spirit of a sailor..and thanks for keep sharing your activities with the slow boat...now I found your content is even more interesting than the race itsel....
Your courage and determination will see you through, full of admiration for you. Well done.
No job too tuff for Pip! Very inspiring. Good on you, Lady!
Cornwall calling!
Melbourne’s not at all a bad place to be to see the New Year in, I had the pleasure of being there for it a few years ago and had a blast.
If you can get a mainsail-ish item to fly I reckon you’ll make it too.
If it wasn’t for what must be a pretty sucky motion without the mast I’d actually be a bit jealous.
Right now it’s mostly grey cold and soggy enough here to make a Pasty limp at the mo’ and I could do with a week or two ambling around in shorts for a change, rather than donning full foulies every time I go out.
Take care of yourself, eat drink and sleep a bunch, you’ve earned it.
Cheers and stay safe, R. 😎👍🍻
Hi Pip,
I think you must have spent your childhood watching Blue Peter, doing a great job with your bags of useful bits.
Thank you very much for sharing your unplanned adventure! It is good to see you being busy with improving your boat and not giving up 👍
This is one of the best footages of the Vendé Globe 2024. Great work. Waiting to the next videos from your own race against all odds.
Following your progress Pip as much as the leading group!
Keep the updates coming!
This is a great story for you to tell.
Great invention and attitude. Good to see Pip!
Just amazing your positive thinking and your creativity to make the best out of it. This could be a blue print for a new TV survival show… I wish you all the best for the stronger winds ahead!
Hi Pip. It’s so wonderful how you have turned this bad situation into an adventure. Please do so as safely as possible. I vividly remember your rudder problem in 2020. I am looking forward to 2028. Your friend in USA. John
Hi Pip, greetings from Melbourne. Having lost a rig on the Tas West Coast I feel for you. We had 6 on board & it took forever to set up a jury rig, can't imagine how you did it so quickly on your own. Yep, you do need a little more horsepower, but I'm sure you'll get there. Huge fan, stay strong, we'll be out to greet you when you arrive. PS we came through the heads with a big Southerly doing 16kts, so here's hoping you get similar 🤞
My biggest respect for how you handle this damn situation. I wish you all the best for your way to Melbourne. Best wishes, Florian
Pip so nice to hear and see you again🎉. We miss you in the race, but you are so incredible kreativ and make the best in this Situation. Brilliant🎉 Thank you so much for sharing your progress.
Great job Pip, that was awesome! I'm learning so much watching your videosm (not just technique, buy also spirit, endurance, stoicism). Thank you so much!
We can see Ocean Youth Trust South's logo on display in the cabin during this video ... Pip, we hope that it reminds you that we are backing you all the way. "One step at a time. One hour at a time. One job at a time" is a great message for all the disadvantaged young people we work with, when they face big setbacks and challenges in their own lives.
What an umbeloevably great video, in the circumstances. Thanks so much. ❤
Thank you so much for keeping us updated. This is really fascinating stuff.
Pip Haar's journey to Melbourne is becoming more interesting. I hope we get updates on everything happening on the boat, such as loading it onto the cargo ship or any events related to Madella.
Pip, you are a great Woman! Keep smiling! We Love you❤!❤
Pip, this video is so inspiring to see how you overcome a bad situation. Safe travels to port.
I admire your patience, your energy and the way you deal with the challenging situation - you are exemplary in morality and courage
Boom - new adventures and new problem solving. You got this and we are here with you all the way.
Glad you got some tunes to push you along :)
Part of racing is always dealing with adversity and this content is as interesting to me as the actual race. Keep up the great work!
Hi Pip, saw you interview with Dee, dismasting is not a failure, but now you can use your incredible resolve, strength and determination to finish your alternative race. Knew your amazing positive smile and attitude would be back rapidly. James 1:2-4.
Legend is right!!! It is mind boggling what you have accomplished as a sailor!!!
So sorry Pip. What an inspiration you are dealing with such adversity. God bless.
Pip you are extraordinary. Your smile lighting your face when your are through difficult sailing hours. Good lick. Hope the repair will help you to go faster. Tale care 💪🏽👏🏽🤞🏾❤️
You've got this Pip! If you can change a rudder in the middle of the Souther Ocean, you will do this. Following you all the way to Melbourne. One step at a time. Stay positive. Sending good vibes from Plymouth UK.
PIP...... YOU ARE A GREAT....... GREAT SAILOR...... GREAT PERSON..... GREAT TEACHER.... YOUR KIND VIDEOS ARE A FANTASTIC LESSON...... COURAGE ... !!! ALL THE BEST...... MY KIND REGARDS.... FAIR WINDS.... ✌️🍾🥂🌷
While the dismasting is so unfortunate, you're safe and the boat is good. Also, you have a unique opportunity to demonstrate how to address such a situation. What you do may teach someone a few tricks that they can apply if they are ever caught in a similar situation. Your innovation may save lives. I hope this gives you encouragement.
Unbelievable and we wish you all the best for reaching safe and quick as possible to the harbour!!!
Hi Pip, Good to know you are ok and Good to see you in a better mood. Incredible woman you are! Respect!
Hope the fix works out.
Keep on posting news from the slow boat, we love to here from you. Thats our race now.
🌬️⛵️👏🙏
You go Pip! You’re incredible! Thanks for filming and posting this. Following you and praying for a safe trip to Melbourne.
Amazing resilience, good luck with the jury rig, hope you can get something going that gives you a bit more boat speed. Amazing attitude in the face of adversity , massive respect
Pip, You are sooooo amazing! My heart was aching for you after the mast abandoned you. Now to see you're able to smile and almost chuckle at making only 2 knots...I'm praying every day for your journey to Melbourne to be safe and full of (within normal parameters) acceleration. 😊 #alwayshadwhatittookandstilldo
C'est pas simple et tu nous le dis avec le sourire. Courage Pip on pense à toi dans cette galère si on peut dire ! Bise
