You don´t understand, her friends are going to help pay for the dress. It costs 5600. Her parents will probably pay 3500, so we have to divide 2100 with the number of people there, including the bride. It will be 420 each. That is manageable.

I thought the $3100 was the most Old Hollywood. It gave me Rita Hayworth vibes. The more expensive dress was just a mermaid wedding dress.
The bride also said the one she picked with her mother wasn't appropriate for the venue. Not sure if she meant style or the size of the place. If it's the size, fair enough; it's certainly possible for a dress to overpower a small venue. But if that were the case, you would think the sleeker dress would work better.

I think it's absolutely ridiculous when the entourage pick dresses that are so far out of the brides budget. This group says they are going to take care of the bride. But many budget breakers don't care if their picks are out of budget because they aren't paying for it.

It's bad enough that her friends were SO dead set on coercing her to spend way over her preferred budget, but they're so willing to spend her MOTHERS money! Especially after they've already dissed the mom's dress choice. And I can't help but think her mom's already going to be hurt that the dress she had a hand in choosing was eliminated like it was nothing; not just hurt at the friends' words but at Amy being so quick to throw it out! It was a beautiful dress!

Beautiful first dress was a 'bridal gown.' The 'final' choice may have had the 'old Hollywood' feel, but it did NOT look like a bridal gown! Brides seem to forget the 'wedding' is for a few hours, and THEY should be the focus of attention, NOT what they are wearing! I cannot imagine spending that much money for a single wear item, even a bridal gown. This entire 'wedding industry' is so over-the-top with unnecessary spending, it makes it much more practical to elope and have a big party afterward to celebrate with family and friends. I hope she is happy with her final choice. What a disappointment for her mother!

    • @bunnyslippers191

It extends to everything having a wedding motif, even to the napkins for the reception. Unless you're super rich the napkins aren't going to be fine linen, but plain old paper, but the same napkins for a birthday with Happy Birthday on them will be at most one third the price of napkins that have the word Wedding on them. Same old paper napkins, but a third of the price and more likely a fourth.

@@bunnyslippers191 I SOOO agree! I made my own wedding gown as well as that of my Matron of Honor, decades ago. Both were classic, timeless dresses that could be worn today as neither had flashy embellishments that date a dress within months! It was a church wedding, so decorum was definitely the order of the day. Not flashy, glittery or Hollywood at all! Both were classic, timeless and elegant.

She needs to pick her dress within budget. Did the mom buy her the other dress too. If the budget was $3500 and this dress is $5600 that’s $2100 over that she expected the mom to say oh sure😳. All she had to do is pay the difference herself but no it wasn’t ok or in her budget to do that so why should she do that to her mom. Her entourage should have immediately said we are paying for the difference. Now it makes you wonder how much they really paying. After all, it was their idea to go over budget 🤷🏻‍♀️

Also, when she looks back years later, I don’t think it would have made a difference which dress she got. She looked beautiful in each of them. I got my dress at a thrift store and although I have seen more beautiful gowns, mine made me FEEL amazing, and I’m sure the extremely low price had something to do with it! 😂
