Wagakki Band literally means "traditional Japanese instruments band" and their purpose is to keep alive the interest in the traditional stuff by making it cool and modern too. I think this style is called "folk metal" across the world, when different cultures make metal with their historical styles. Every member here is a master-level pro at their instruments. The two drum sets are Wasabi on "normal" drums (well named for his spicy playing!) and Kurona on the traditional taiko (wadaiko) drums. The wadaiko provides extra oomph and off-beat sounds that aren't possible with just one drummer or a normal band drumset. There are whole competitions in Japan built around the traditional drumming techniques on all different sizes, including ones that are about three times as tall as you! Fun fact: Beni's showy tsugaru shamisen can only be played on the downstroke with her weighted plectrum (large fanlike pick) and the silk strings change pitch rapidly with changes in humidity, and it has no frets, so she has to play everything by ear and muscle memory! Machiya on guitar rarely wears shoes onstage and wears his traditional Noh mask for the songs he wrote before he was with WagakkiBand like Homura. Kaminaga Daisuke on the shakuhachi flute needs a TON of breath to do what he does--and who doesn't love surprising people that they shred the flute in a metal band? Suzuhana Yuko, the vocalist is a licensed Shigin (poetic recitation) performer and teacher, and can do sword and fan dances. I swear the koto player Ibukuro Kiyoshi has golden fingers. The lyrics are as follows:
Hana hirakeba chou eda ni mitsu | Flower bloom filling the butterfly branches
Warera utau sora no kanata he | To the sky that we sing
Haruka nagaru kumo no mukou he | Beyond the faraway clouds
Umi wo koete niji wo watatte | Cross the sea and cross the rainbow
Kimi ni todoku you ni | Like to reach you
Seki wo kitte afureru omoi | Thought to overflow the weir [a low type of dam meant to raise a river or catch fish]
Itsuka sameru yume no ibashou de | In the whereabouts of a dream, that will someday
Warai atte irareru you ni | Just like being laughing [as in the state of being that you feel when you're laughing]
Kasane tsumuide yuku | I am going to spin it
    ((Repeat from "Warera utau"))
Also! Check out Synchronicity by WagakkiBand for a crazy change of pace!

Definitely love HOMURA, which, by the way, they only play during lives.
Akatsuki no Ito is sort of their anthem. They usually play this during their encores.
You may want to check Strong Fate music video. Thanks!

WAGAKKI BAND was formed in 2013 by vocalist Yuko Suzuhana with a focus on the Japanese-style unit 「華風月」"Hanahu-getu", with the intention of transmitting traditional performing arts to the world in a more pop form.
     ruclips.net/video/0m1y7m0HkvQ/видео.html / ruclips.net/video/2FMIv2lBF_w/видео.html
Yuko Suzuhana( lead vocal )is a master of ' Shigin ' (Japanese traditional music ), shigin is used to sing poetry.
The one who sounds like a banjo is a shamisen,The one who looks like an arp is a koto, The flute is a shakuhachi, a traditional drum set is a wadaiko set.
    I recommend these songs.(PV)Hanabi / Ignite / Tengaku / Strong Fate / Synchronicity /
    ( LIVE) Hanahurumai 2016 / Howling 2017 / Valkyrie LIVE 2017

Beni plays a Tsugaru-style Futozao (Thick Neck Size) Shamisen.
The sharp, flashy tsugaru style was introduced into the
Streets played by the bousama (blind musicians).
At the beginning of the 20th century, musicians (including Shirakawa Gunpachirō
    Takahashi Chikuzan and sighted players
like Kida Rinshōe) a livelier way of playing
based on traditional folk songs ("min'yō"), but with a lot
Improvisation and eye-catching finger work. This style - known today as Tsugaru-Jamisen, after the native region
in the north of Honshū - is still very popular
in Japan. The virtuoso tsugaru jamisen style is sometimes compared to bluegrass banjo. The pick is called Bachi. The koto is a Japanese zither and the national instrument of Japan. The bamboo flute is called a shakuhachi, and the second drum kit is a wadeiko. Yuko Suzuhana, the singer, uses the style of traditional Japanese singing called Shigin

yeah i can tell right when you leaned in 4:09 and your mouth was wide open for quite a while when Beni Ninagawa started rockin out on her tsugaru shamisen. She is a site to behold and hear. She is a master at that instrument. and btw, Beni tends to get that alot when she starts playing like that. people know the instrument and sound,,but they never heard it like that before and are in total awwwee.

Speaking of sounding like a soundtrack...... 6:40
I've seen a few of their vids for the last few years, then just a few months ago I got into an anime called
Demon Slayer (Kimetsu no Yaiba) Holy Nezuko now that's all I can think about when I listen to this band. I see all these fight scenes and traveling across the land.

Wagakki Band is one of the best Japanese groups out there. They combine traditional Japanese instruments and vocal styles with modern rock, metal, jazz, and more. All eight members are master level musicians, and their lead singer, the very elegant Yuko Suzuhana, may be the best female Japanese vocalist I have heard. This particular video does not do justice to the range and power of her voice. Wagakki Band is the only other Japanese group that comes anywhere close to BabyMetal in international popularity. The video for their song Senbonzakura has more views that Gimme Chocolate. Wagakki Band is even better live, as their stage shows are musical extravaganzas that rival the very best BabyMetal concerts. This video is actually quite tame compared to some others.

Finaly! "Homura" was bleeding out of my ears when i found it. Catchi. I hope you check more of them, it's worth it.
Here are some titles i can recommend:
Tengaku (the music video), Iroha uta, Strong faith (the music video), Sabaku no komoriuta, Ignite, Bou getsu, Ikusa (the music video) and Hotarubi (Heian jingu 2017)
    .
More instrumentals: Chie no kajitsu, Tono monogatari go go
In the singing Yuko (vo) incorporates shigin. "Akatsuki no ito" has one segment with it. Pure shigin you can find in "Howling" too, but her whole singing in inspired by it. Since the band's goal is to make the traditional instruments and culture popular, the vocals/singing is in the plan as well.
On their upcoming album there will be a song feat. Amy Lee (Evanescence). They befriended her not so while ago.

Absolutely loved watching you actually getting into the song. This group is one of my favorites. Following this I would personally suggest - Sabaku no komoriuta ( ruclips.net/video/vVvJEV3b-d4/видео.html&ab_channel=Tsume ) This has the Japanese words in the top left if you are interested. In the comments below a person not knowing the Japanese language was given a reply of the english translation. Though you may like this next one more based on your reaction. This next one is Senbonzakura. ( ruclips.net/video/K_xTet06SUo/видео.html&ab_channel=avex )
I look forward to what may come next.

Always loved Wagakki Band :) . Too bad songs other than this tend to get blocked easily :( . Do try other tracks from their channel, maybe don't display the whole song, or edit the audio, or do link and sync, or something else to go around copyright issue.
Their live performance and video music is always extravagant, and yes, they are heavily about storytelling. One can argue that the vocalist herself is not singing, not in a common way at least, but rather more like reciting poem in shigin style (Japanese ancient way of singing a poem). It's a mix of both.

    個人的にもクソバンドだと思うし、和楽器バンドとは全然レベルが違うし比べ物にならんわ
    何であんな子供騙しバンドが良いのかさっぱり分からん
