    damn these clouds look amazing. I tried a bunch of tutorials and I absolutely love these clouds. Good job.

    This is absolutely brilliant. Fantastic results! And I love being able to art direct the light & shadows. Out of curiosity, do you know what it would take to get this to work with a volume shader on something that isn't a vdb? Vdb generally have the density attribute, but I'm uncertain how to make this setup work without it. Will have to experiment more, but if you have a clue, please let me know. Thanks! Great video!

      I'll have a think but nothing comes to mind to make it behave the same.
      Although you can create a mesh out of meatballs for example and start using it as a cloud with a similar shader like this.

    This worked great for me, except I couldn't get the clouds to appear in front of objects, just behind the objects.

      Oh that's odd. This is happening in cycles regardless of the object?

    • @ishegeek
      @ishegeek 10 месяцев назад

      yah. any object using cycles in my blend file. it's possible there is user error somewhere as I am somewhat of a noob, although I thought I followed all of the steps. @@ArghanionsPuzzlebox It's also possible that it just isn't working right in this one file.

    Volume in blender just look bad... a rewrite is necessary !

      Check Samuel Krugers ways to shade the cloud volumes, or @breakyourcrayons.

    Unfortunately, there are too many artifacts with VDB objects, especially when they overlap. Right not this is not a solution for clouds.

      There are, yes. It takes a lot of setup to get it right. That's why the unreal engine real-time solution is a lot more feasible.
