Must say Limahl is the man! After the band basically shut the door in his face and left him on his own....he was still man about it in saying "life's too short" let's do this!
@@KajaFax just listened brilliant thanks Funny really he never should have been pushed out of the band whoevers fault it was, manager is what it says here, But the only good to come out of it is the never ending story song would not have happened
Hearts can always be softened by the right people with the right motives ! I must say the bass line in that song, "Too Shy" by Nick Beggs, was truly extraordinary !!!
Nick Beggs Bass playing (and writing) is beyond extraordinary. So glad his career continued past Kajagoogoo. And to think of how incredibly young he was when Too Shy was recorded... amazing. He was the true center of the band, I wonder if he'd have continued to be the main songwriter of other bands what great content we'd have.
This is my favorite one! They mended fences, played amazing and stayed together to do more shows. And are still friends to this day after feuding for years. This is why I loved this show. i wish they would bring it back for TV or even streaming. It would be great. They could focus on all the nineties bands.
20 years ago and it is almost another 20 years , time flies and we are that generation still ticking. 🙂 thank U KAJAGOOGOO 🙂and thanks for posting that show.
Fantastic and sentimental material about the legendary band. It's a pitty they separated with Limahl, it's a pitty they didn't play and compose new hits all these years. They were a very good band.
I was 22 when they made their first album I was going thru changes. I absolutely loved the songs, the music, and was heart broken when they split. I am 65 now, and still play the album's, never gets old!
One of the most talented bands of the 80s. Very sophisticated, jazzy, innovative bass lines, piano was always one of my favorite parts of the song. Gosh, I love this band. Awesome stuff.
Totally agree, I was amazed at the high level of musicianship & songwriting when I finally gave their albums a proper listen, I guess I was expecting pop fluff!
Amazing! Beautiful experience then and reviving it 20 years later is priceless, our body gets older but we will always be 17, our soul will always be young but wiser
This was very wholesome and lovely. I'm glad it is posted here on RUclips. I'm smiling ear to ear. I'm glad they found peace and is fine getting along with each other to this day.
I absolutely loved this reunion❤. I keep re-watching it. So cool. They sound great and look like they're truly enjoying themselves. The crowd is loving it too, one of my favorite songs from back in the day🙌.
This is one I'll never understand. All they had to do was make the stylistic changes that they wanted and then let the charismatic front man sell the thing to the fans. The public wanted them to succeed and that is really the magic spell that any band has to cast. Two albums later they could have done it TOGETHER.
The base on Too Shy is so good, that I have often thought it was fake. A lot of 80s music used synthesizers and other sound machines to manufacture musical sounds as if to be a base or piano etc.
nope, Nick Beggs is actually a fantastic bass player and still playing with people like Howard Jones even now, search on youtube, theres lot of vids by other basists saying how good Nick was to write and play that bassline at 21 years old
@@soilentgreen7 Agreed. I love that song because of that excellent base. I hope that Nick would take my thinking the base was/is so perfect on that song that it wasn't humanly possible and had to be a machine, as a compliment. If you recall, there is a song from the early 80s called System by The System (Robert Palmer did a cover version). It too has a killer baseline, but it turns out that it actually synthesizers producing what sounds like a base guitar.
I remember when Too Shy was released. People really loved it in our school. Limahl was the focal point you remembered. Listening back, the bass line and the music was amazing.
i saw them live when i was 11.. they were so good then.. i love the healing that took place here... very moving, and limahl being so mature about it all was so sweet. i must say, nick beggs playing is phenomenal... WOW.. i didn't know how good they were when i was 11.. and now i can appreciate them even more. thanks for posting this. heart warming to the extreme
Thank you for posting this. I was 19 years old when "Too Shy" debuted 40 years ago this month. I never knew the story why they broke up, and I never saw this episode before now. Reunions are tough, especially those coming after the friendship is, for all intents and purposes, over. I hope they all were able to find the closure it looked like they truly needed.
Here I am watching this clip some 20 years after it aired on tv,and 20 years after the band actually split. I was a kid when the band got famous but I still knew the songs very well but of course was too young and didn't understand why the band suddenly disappeared from the radars. This show helped shedding some light and got us behind the scenes right into the heart and soul of this group of 5 matured and truly talented great musicians! It was a beautiful sweet reunion, thank you!
This was so great!! I felt just like I did back then. I do miss those years so much sometimes. Watching this helps remember just how truly awesome the music and the world was back then.
This made me smile from start to finish! They were so good back then and they were so good right there. Fabulous. Thank you such a great bunch of guys.
Limahl and his haircut contributed to their early success........some bands took themselves too seriously...it's always about getting your foot in the door and staying there.
My number one band! Amazing Spirits! Perfect set of 5 guys! Most fantastic and unique understanding of music! My dream come true is for the 5 of them to still play together and make more records, becasue they are ageless. Please guys give us more of your music!
'Too shy','Big apple','Turn your back on me','Ergonomics' and some more tracks were funky good. But i remember UK press being quite offensive on them.'Smash hits' the most trendy music mag for youngsters, gave an awful humiliating review to their debut album (co-produced by Nick Rhodes),while Record Mirror-i think- had discribed it as a 'sweet nothing''.
They achieved the impossible with this one, honestly every second here is a wonderful moment. Limahl is SUCH a great singer. They were underrated at the time and seen as a teeny-bop band because they looked great, but you have to fight through that like Duran Duran did. Lot's of What Ifs, just as Limahl said.
Much respect to these young men who did not waste their lives after all that sudden popularity. A real tribute to their parents giving them good strong work values and taking care of themselves. Look like they all still like one another. Just all that testosterone levels off the charts being young. Age has mellowed that now each has respect for one another as grown men.
Guilt, regret, and forgiveness can all be seen and felt in this great episode of Bands Reunited. Love revisiting this great episode and seeing this great band reunited and playing on stage together again!
It’s funny when you see them in the 80’s it seems like a snap shot of that time. But the way they look there(which is about 20yrs ago now) it looks like it could be today
Thankyou for posting this video-i watched it previously on late night TV+have now loved it all over again!-i would have loved to have been at that gig@the Scala as Kajagoogoo were such a lovely part of the 80's era no matter how short-lived it was!🎤🎹🎧-i am the biggest Duranie ever so what an irony that the Glorious Nick Rhodes helped the band get to No1 with "Too Shy" before they did!😄-in my humble opinion I think it's one of the greatest songs of the 80's+remains so to this day👍💛⭐
Sorry this was my fault, I thought I needed to copyright protect the video so it blanked out some music parts. Not censored, just my silly fault sorry 🙏
Absolutely great band, possibly the melody and words of Too Shy was so very good and that just may have been why later tracks did not so good. Wonderful to see them here again, well done to all!
This was really a good tv series. I wonder if the band mates ever realized … that they could do Limal records, make a load of money and do their own music projects? They all are comfortable but they could have sustain a lucrative career. They were talented musicians.
Absolutely incredible really nice for limahl to agree to the reunion considering he was on his own and not seen them for twenty years Really good of him to agree to this very admirable of him, he must have been nervous to meet the band after all this time especially knowing the rest still keep in contact You can see they have been wanting to and tried and things seem to go wrong just on awkwardness alone because of what happened and the gap everything emotions get in the way Good on all of them And limahl sounds as good or even better than he did back then What an incredible moment this is and will always be magical
Gotta say - Limahl is a good guy. Given what happened and how they all turned on him, I wasn’t expecting him to turn up. He’s shown a damn sight more forgiveness and maturity than Nick Beggs did back then. At least Nick and the others see now that they shd have gotten rid of the manager, and he did seem to acknowledge the hurt that caused. Must also have been tough for Limahl given the other 4 were such good friends from school days.
I was in my early twenties 1983/84 and I hateloved "Too shy", because on one side it was a "Teeniehit", but I felt on the other side that there is more inside it than just this. Now, 40 years later, I saw a bassman made a review of Nick's bass loop on "Too shy", amazing👍 And I took the time to hear Kajas albums and must say that they are really fantastic musicians with awesome musical ideas and a lot of different influences from different music styles. I'm a bit sad to say that I ignored their music for 40 years, but I'm happy to catch them with 62. Greets from germany and sorry for my worse english.

I've met Limahl on numerous occasions and he's a lovely man, he has a very good heart 🙏
How cool is it they all lived down the street from each other and were all excited?? awesome!
Limahls voice here is truly magical really shocked how well he sung after 20 years at this point
Remarkable
His presence just brought the band to another level. Great musicians but without a good frontman they are just like everyone else.
@@jjzuc agreed
Have a listen to his single Still In Love from 2020, voice is even better now!

The bass line is smokin' , one of the coolest from the 80's!

Fantastic and sentimental material about the legendary band. It's a pitty they separated with Limahl, it's a pitty they didn't play and compose new hits all these years. They were a very good band.
Beggs bassline in Too shy is definitely top 5 basslines all time imho

Wow, it's going to be 40 years this year. I hope they do somethng special like this again.
God, I miss the days when music mattered. ❤
Yeah me too!!
One of the most successful reunions done by the show next to Dramarama, Haircut 100, Romeo Void, the Hotels and The Alarm and Flock of Seagulls.
I'll have to check some of those reunions out. Thank you for the heads up !
Please come back kagagoo
Yeah that worked out very well, ABC well at least in case of Bands reunited didn't work so well
Wow, I thought this was going to be hideous but it turned out beautifully. Very big of them all ♥. Lovely to see.

It is amazing how many talented musicians were dotted around in 80s bands, it seemed to be a time for producing world class bass players!
Amazing! Beautiful experience then and reviving it 20 years later is priceless, our body gets older but we will always be 17, our soul will always be young but wiser

that actually felt good to watch...
Lucky to have grown up in the 80’s!
What a great reunion on many levels, really fantastic to see.
"I had to search on the internet for my own lyrics, which was quite amusing"--lol!

More musically able than I remeber them, especially Nick Beggs.

This was fun, truly fun! This was music that was part of the dancing in Saturday night. Thanks for reuniting Kajagoogoo
Heart warming.Life is to short to hang on to bad feelings.zA lesson to be learnt here.
you should just forgive each other for anything that happened back then..Kajagoogoo were always a unique and good band, no matter what
Their music and friendship endures.

que emocion verlos juntos otra vez...
Parabéns Vh1 por essa maravilhosa realização, parabéns Kajagoogoo por deixar os nossos erros para trás.
What a great reunion story
I think it was incredible how Limahl took it without hard feelings and easily let go of the past.
