- Pedestrian Detection with full auto brake is a groundbreaking technological solution. It can detect pedestrians who walk into the road in front of the car, warn the driver - and automatically apply full braking power if the driver does not respond in time.
In an emergency situation the driver first receives an audible warning combined with a flashing light in the windscreen's head-up display. At the same time, the car's brakes are pre-charged. If the driver does not react to the warning and an accident is imminent, full braking power is automatically applied.
This is an amazing feature that I think will save many lives and be implanted into many cars in the future. Go Volvo!

@arivera3426 yes. all the safety features can be overridden. however they are reactivated every time you turn on the car.
A number of other auto manufacturers, including BMW, are working on similar systems. Drivers need to remember that they still need to pay attention to driving, and that while these systems can prevent many accidents, they are not foolproof. Too many safety features never live up to their potential because drivers compensate for the increased margin for safety.
Will this feature be included in the judgement from euro ncap?
Will cars equipped with this feature get lower insurance costs?
