I’ve got a funny story - years ago I was at a show at slims in San Francisco and job for a cowboy was on the bill. I was there to see other bands on the bill I forget the tour, but I was in the bathroom, talking to a buddy talking about how much I thought job for cowboy sucked and the drummer burst out of the stall and gets all pissed about my shit talking and says something and runs off. it was hilarious.
No doubt it would have been a riot had this classic encounter been captured by someone's i-phone, then again who shots video in a public bathroom right (and in San Francisco too🤢).

Anvil's pound for pound was released on metal blade and that's how I first heard of them. it was the metal blade records logo that was the seller for me. I never would have checked it out had it not been for that metal blade logo.

Holy Diver is indeed a perfect album.
Props to RUclips for putting Dawg in my feed, but they jumped the shark with him. Sponge got me checking out the other podcasters yakking metal and they collectively clog the lake with all the goddam canoe. I watched Banger Blaine talk about the new Deicide and somehow found a dick in my butt. At least the kid realized it is a terrible and needless release with some of the worst art since Suspiria last dropped an album.

I sort of don’t understand the immense hate for any death metal band that is outside of the realm of obscurity or pure underground. Before people flame me for this, I am big into all the good stuff the Dawg promotes, Mortician, Profanatica, Nunslaughter etc.
no, I am not a fan of deathcore, and I’m not particularly a fan of job for a cowboy. I don’t really know their discography very well, but from what I’ve heard it is legitimate. It is not core music. I think they get a really bad reputation because of what their sound was earlier in their career but they are really not the enemy here. There are far worse bands out there, and if somebody is legitimately listening to newer job for a cowboy, I would absolutely say they are a bona fide death metal fan and not a poser, regardless of if it’s my cup of tea or not. They are definitely not in the same genre of twink core like Lorna Shore for example
Most of it is actually solid technicalish death metal albeit mainstreamish - their original EP is definitely deathcore though

Moon Healer sounds great to me. The Dawg misses out on a lot. It's fine to like multiple genres. Gatekeeping is necessary, though, but rebellion is even moreso.

14:10 pretty sure this is attributed to the old school style of music releases that went on the radio where a record had the A side and B side. The A side was always the "hits" and the B sides were considered "filler" but otherwise good. That's just how the music industry was in the 70's and 80's and simply carried over to the metal realm. However, I'd say metal albums often have more killer instead of filler songs anyways. The concept of A and B side tracks makes no sense because you're not looking for radio play anyways, you're looking for people who want to jam your sick tuneskis. Putting out music just to put music out sounds like what Pathology did... slinging albums every year is just toooo much..
