I can feel ya mate. Alfaunso perhaps made the best Harry Potter film of the bunch. Potter 4, 6 and 8 come a bit close, but Potter 3 was absolutely block buster shattering piece of art that sticks to your mind for the ages to come. You can see his finger prints all over his body of work. I might sound crazy, but I strongly feel Potter 3 is Alfaunso's strongest film yet and it's going to be a great big challenge to triumph that for Alfaunso. But out of his achievments, I think the greatest one is making us filmmakers feel like creating content no matter. My youtube content obviously doesn't even come close to doing what his content did to the world, but I can only hope to learn from him and implement it in my work every time I put out something. Have a good day mate
Harry Potter 3 is still my favorite. If you take this movie away from the franchise and show it to people, they'd still love it. It is so well written and directed. For me, HP3 has best screenplay and story HP5 and HP6 have the best cinematography
Not only the best HP movie, but also one of the greatest movies ever made in my opinion. That movie is a masterpiece in complex storytelling, character handling, visuals and on and on
***** No I mean when they announced the winner he was thinking, "Yeah, I can get behind that." He obviously didn't want to lose, but in some years it's obvious who's gonna win. He probably went to support his nominated film and in case he did win, which was still a POSSIBILITY.
+Steal The Reel Plus, Scorsese himself is a pretty nice guy from what I've heard. He seems like Spielberg: he's happy for other directors when they win.

When he says "Sandy you're GRAVITY"...damn. it always gets me I dont know why. It was without a doubt one of the best actor-director collaboration in years..Sandra Bullock is just beyond amazing and Cuaron is a master craftsmen. Congratulations man...☺

Loved him ever since I was 14 and Prisoner of Azkaban completely blew me away in the theater. I still think it's one of the most unique and exhilarating franchise movies ever. Also Lord of the Rings obviously which floored me, but something about Harry Potter 3, it was just unusual, unlike anything I had ever seen. So much energy and one crazy visual idea after another coming off the screen, the catharsis of Buckbeak's flight and the Dementor attack...I loved those books and always fantasized them as movies, but I can safely say that while Chris Columbus's movies lived up to my childhood imagination, Cuaron went beyond. That movie was what made me want to start exploring different kinds of movies outside of the blockbusters I loved. Azkaban and LOTR really spoiled me in the way that I imagine Star Wars and Spielberg must have spoiled kids in their day....I suddenly looked around and thought "Hey, why aren't all movies like that?!". I still can't help but think that sometimes lol. I read all his interviews about Harry Potter in newspapers and magazines and he would talk about movies like Bicycle Thieves and 400 Blows. I had never heard of them before, but I thought if Alfonso loved them, I would too (and I did). Seeing those movies and that little taste from Harry Potter 3 gave me a newfound and I'm sure lifelong craving to watch films unlike anything I'd ever seen, taking me down some very strange and wonderful paths ever since....I think all cinephiles can relate! And I certainly knew I wanted to see everything he ever made after that, although at that time, I was only allowed to see A Little Princess of his other films :P. But then 2 years later I was 16 and old enough to see Children of Men, then finally caught up with Solo Con Tu Pareja, Great Expectations, and Y Tu Mama Tambien, and finally Gravity which was as thrilling and wonderful as I hoped. What can I say, Alfonso Cuaron helped make a film buff out of me, big time, and as a fan for 10 years I was so happy to see him take a gamble on a movie like Gravity and for it to pay off so amazingly for him in every way. Just ridiculously proud of my hero! Thanks, Alfonso.
+Daniel Wong Prisoner of Azkaban may have taken the franchise to a different direction from the first two movies but it was a good idea for Alfonso to direct it while it lasted.
+Daniel Wong not really. WB offered Cuaron to direct the next Harry Potter but declined because the studio didn't give him enough time to complete Azkaban and start on the fourth one immediately
I love how Scorcese's just like "Yeah, I can accept that" and claps. Truly one of the most well deserved best director Oscars ever, have to hand it to Cauron. He created an experience unlike any other.
Gravity has great directing. He became the first Mexican director to win the Academy Award for Best Director until Alejandro González Iñárritu and Guillermo del Toro, becoming the second & third Mexican directors to win in this category.
Guillermo del Toro was nominated for 2 Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film and Best Original Screenplay for Pan's Labyrinth. Guillermo del Toro has just won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing in an Animated Program for Trollhunters on Netflix.

Vi Dallas Bayers Club y me parecio excelente.
Did anyone else feel like they gave it to him because they felt bad for ignoring Children of men and HP3? I think Gravity is a great movie but it doesn't stand up to those two IMO. He won for those two in my heart ;).
Sidney, you are a legend and the film world is forever thankful!!!! BTW, You should have read the winner's name instead of Angelina!!!!! Just saying!!!!
Did people forget Alfonso Cuaron also made history that night? He is the first Latino to walk away with the Best Director award...
And then it was won the next two years by Alejandro Gonzales Innaritu for the threepeat.
And will be won by Guillermo this year
Yep, and now 4 out of the last 5 best director winners have been Mexican. Good stuff
and here comes Cuaron again with Roma, best picture at Venice...make that 5 out of 6

jwelch5742 no they're not. sometimes they give the award to whom they think they should give it to, and not who really deserves it
jwelch5742 How about Stanley Kubrick not winning a single Oscar for Directing?
David Ryan He did won Academy Award for Best Visual Effects for 2001: A Space Odyssey.
jwelch5742 What about the fact a foreign film has never won?
Bobishere
Ang Lee won twice
Well deserved because Gravity is an amazing film.
I just got done rewatching it
In terms of directing style and filming style, Martin Scorsese was doubled nominated in this category: The Wolf of Wall Street and American Hustle.
BRAVO, ALFONSO!!!
Eder G. Toledo no creo
Orgullo mexicano!
OMG! Angelina Jolie looks absolutely gorgeous here.
i love the fact that there are more hispanics in hollywood and i especially love the amazing work that these talented Mexican directors are doing
+bubbathenaslover Yup even I'm Hispanic
What an awesome movie!
He really deserved it and i think it deserved all the Oscar's it won!
+theogge Too bad it didn't win Best Picture
I went to school with Mr. Cuarons daughter in London.
+Manny Brook Brook That's cool to hear and the movie was filmed in London
Between Gravity and Children of Men, Cuarón is becoming one of my favorite directors.
Vi Dallas Bayers Club y me parecio excelente.
myautomobilefunk
no eres mexicano baahhhh
The best picture to film of Cuaron is Harry Potter and The Prissioner of Askaban.... real, beautiful and magestic...
I prefer Gravity and A Little Princess
Ironically, Angelina Jolie was actually considered for Sandra Bullock's part.
"And the Oscar goes to the man with no glasses!"
he had to thank to a lot of people y a su mamá también! David Heyman working with him again. My potterheart can stand so much awesomeness
Love Marty's reaction, he's a real life wise guy
And Payne's!
te amo que palabra tan mas chingona
The best moment sandra bullock amazing
2:05 Even Scorsese was shocked that he didn’t win
This was a great moment for the Harry Potter cumunity
I can see you there in February 2019 once again, Mr. Cuaron! Great director, one of the best of our times.
¡Bravo maestro Cuaron!
HM, equipo de Solo Con Tu Pareja, hace mil años...
Did anyone else feel like they gave it to him because they felt bad for ignoring Children of men and HP3? I think Gravity is a great movie but it doesn't stand up to those two IMO. He won for those two in my heart ;).
No just you
Nope, you're pretty much alone there.
I don't think I am. Gravity is shit compared to COM
Fishels
yes u are alone on it mate
Dzmo15 3>2
David o Russell , american hustle.. Rhymes perfectly
Muchas gracias. Las amo.
First of all, Alfonso REALLY is the best director!
Next, I wanted to see Sidney Poitier trying to pronounce Cuarón X3
Would be a little bit funny
I can never quite get what Cuarón says to Sidney Poitier: I can hear he says “es un honor” and then what??
Sidney, you are a legend and the film world is forever thankful!!!! BTW, You should have read the winner's name instead of Angelina!!!!! Just saying!!!!
+LadyAmerican Yeah he's a legend and it was cool to see him appear to celebrate the 50th anniversary of his Oscar win for Lilies of the Field.
Great year for the category, the 5 candidates did brilliant films.
ACABEI DE VER ROMA! Q SOCO NO ESTÔMAGO! FILME LINDO!

Angelina : Keep looking into the camera girl, I'm glamourous.
SIMPLEMENTE UNO DE LOS MEJORES REALIZADORES DE NUESTROS TIEMPOS
Sidney can read without glasses O.o
