My sister just started playing, so I'm sticking around the bubble to help her learn the ropes, but this makes me want to load up my DBX and fly to the edges of the galaxy.
Nice video, and a rare great vista in Odyssey. Quite telling though that after you'd had the Kirk Moment, there was nothing to do but jump on top of your ship. And then shoot at nothing, and presumably just leave... without leaving your mark in any perceptible way.
To explore you can drive further in the SRV, or search for plants to sample. That's what I did after this clip, and you can spend hours getting lost on planets & moons. This case I'm trying to get from Colonia to the bubble so quick landing trips are ideal. I also instantly received "first footfall" on the planet and my name is written and visible to any other explorers. Lastly, when I get home and return the data my name would be written twice more for discovery & mapping, assuming no one steals it. o7
Now just imagine if there WAS the chance to find plant life created by a really solid procedural engine using a plethora of inputs from Stellar Forge and terrain maps... That would add some much needed depth to exploration IMHO. Hard coded plant assets just completely miss the point of exploration.
