CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Kevin (Keanu Reeves) puts his jury selection skills to the test upon his arrival in New York.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Supernatural forces hover over the courtroom in this devilish drama adapted from the novel by Andrew Neiderman. Attorney Kevin Lomax (Keanu Reeves) doesn't heed the Bible-based warnings of his mother (Judith Ivey), who views New York City as "the dwelling place of demons." Instead, he leaves Gainesville, Florida, with his wife Mary Ann (Charlize Theron) to put his legalistic skills to the test at a leading Manhattan law firm run by John Milton (Al Pacino). It all goes smoothly -- with Milton urging them to stay, putting Kevin on a $400-per-hour salary, and moving the couple into a luxurious apartment in his own building on Fifth Avenue -- where Mary Ann falls under the influence of neighbor Jackie (Tamara Tunie). After Kevin defends a weird animal sacrificer (Delroy Lindo, uncredited), he moves up to an important case with an apparent murderer, real-estate tycoon Alexander Cullen (Craig T. Nelson). Ignored by Kevin, the troubled Mary Ann has some disturbing experiences, verging on the occult, while Kevin, at work, becomes attracted to redhead Christabella (Connie Neilsen). Dazzled by his entrance into paradise, Kevin doesn't grasp who handed him this Big-Apple success. Could it be...Satan? The film features demonic creatures by Rick Baker. Cameos (Senator Alfonse D'Amato, Don King, others) add to the ambiance of ambition and power in the canyons of Manhattan.

A perfect lawyer reaction. When confronted with the possibility of being thrown off the case after a failed ultimatum, he immediately adapts to stay on. A brilliant scene.
Pretty vitriolic response to a simple scene analysis. You might be reading ill will where there is none. Peace be with you lol.
Are you ok man? Wanna get something off of your chest?

"Either you put a stop to this B.S, or I walk"

Man I love this movie. Everyone was so casual in their parts, like they were playing themselves and their own lives in the film.
Thank you very much for the nice comment. Are you a fan?
@@keanucharlesreeves8681 not again
Which is pretty scary..
I remember watching this movie as a kid for the first time with my dad. When the lawyer said "you either put a stop to this happy horseshit or I walk" my dad leaned over to me and said: "never put an ultimatum unless you're willing to face the consequences of the choice not in your favor. Otherwise always leave a room for maneuver for the other person. That way you both keep the face and come to an agreement." That advice served me well in work, marriage and now fatherhood.
and where u at now
Your father is (or was?) a wise man.
You were wise to listen... and to remember.
Brilliant advice. Your dad is clearly a smart man.
@Tu regere imperio fluctus, Hispane, memento I mean, I was 9 when the movie came out., not like I was a toddler. Unless you have cognitive issues it's not hard to comprehend and remember a simple idea at that age.
@Tu regere imperio fluctus, Hispane, memento speak for yourself broo.
How do you know this?
I am the Devil's son.
What?
Not that that he knew at the time.
Yeah he did
"Look, you either put a stop to this happy horseshit or I walk."
"What's the matter Colonel Sanders? CHICKEN?!"
Hel Hexen 😂
Hahahaha... nice!!!!
Lol. Dark Helmet says no to jurors 3, 4, and 6.
Lmao!
Holy crap;! He aged horribly. I just realized that's him lol.
I love it how he easily said,"Walk!"...
"Walk." One of the greatest lines ever spoken in Cinema history!
Oh rimshot!
Pantera starts
You or our bosses #1 pick? Hmmmmmmm tough choice but the other lawyer was fully justified to think Lomax was a nut job.
called his bluff and embarrassed him, he deserves it for that squeezing oranges comment, lol
The lawyer told to walk is in a win/win situation at the end.If he loses he can blame both of them and they were cool with it.If he wins he gets another win on his record. The only downside is you think your boss and the rookie from Florida are nut jobs.
This movie has so much replay value. Everytime I watch it I find somethin new.
I watched it way young then as an adult I was blown away there was so much I didn’t get from my first viewing
Underrated Masterpiece!
This is such an underrated scene in cinema history.
I 2nd That notion. This scene, the entire scene & plot line, and the entire movie overall (IMO Obviously) is totally and definitely underrated by far
Every last actor in this scene crushed it. Even the jurors.
Absolutely brilliant...your right. This entire movie is a masterpiece of acting, cinematography, and epic writing.

I think the delivery of Walk was moist.
I like how he emphasizes that he doesn’t know but it’s a small hint that he isn’t a regular person as well
Al Pacino brought out the best in Keanu's acting. Brilliant acting classic movie for me
as far as I know, al pacino was neither the director nor the writer of this movie.
@@veepro8604 LOL
He was slightly shellshocked when he called him on his bluff. "Walk!" 🤣🤣😂
Lomax acted like a nutjob in front of both of them so I would too.Lomax should have used that skill at the poker table.
Man to me one of Keanu Reeves best roles
I wonder how embarrassed the lawyer was when Kevin turned out to be right.
I f-ing love this movie, and this scene is particularly awesome.....hell, the whole movie is awesome.
Thank you very much for the nice comment. Are you a fan?
I've got hundreds of "favorite" movies ...This one is easily in my Top 25
Went in thinking this was just a lawyer movie that talks about ethics, ends up being a spiritual and religious movie about human sin.
You dont need to be the devil's son to recognize a person's intent and moral compus just by looking at them, it's called insight, a power of recognition we all have in a higher or lesser degree
Well said,i also would've accepted the word 'intuition'.
@@QoQabai658 yeah instinct, intuition, insight,it's one hell of an ability that all of us have thanks to evolution and pattern recognition

The audience totally agrees.. what a ridiculous statement by Keanu.. that’s when you know the movie is gonna be fun
"How do you know?" "Because I am the Devil's son!"

That double face slap tho
Seriously. So on point 👌

The image of lady justice⚖ in the opening scene of court talking about bankers. Poetic.
Lady Justice is real, but you have to be jewish for her to see you.
Lawyers were taking a drubbing in the 1990’s. Certain film directors didn’t like attorneys and this was conveyed on their celluloid.
Not a single clip with Pacino? What's wrong with movieclips?
ruclips.net/video/M7LI3O_VmaQ/видео.html don't know about the accent but acting looks pretty solid to me
“Never let ‘em see you coming.”
One of my favorite scenes from the movie. The way he reads these people is just brilliant.
I mean... he literally has supernatural powers.
@@Onion_Smoothie he never showed any supernatural powers throughout that entire movie
@@eq1373 Unless Milton's law firm has cameras hidden in the brother's apartment, or the wld-b juror chose to include such details in his paperwork (unlikely @ best), Kevin's knowledge that the juror made his own clothes has no other plausible explanation. And that's explicitly acknowledged in the Milton-Kevin scene @ the end: "But WHY r u so good?" "Bcs I'm yr son."
@@eq1373 Yes he does. The ability to read people's minds and nature's is supernatural. Milton literally tells him he's so good at it because he's his son.
I am juror #4. Thank you Mom and Dad.
I’m an attorney. We have a saying and it is true. All trials are won and lost at Voir Dire.
what
Of all the movies I have seen this is Al Pacino best roll. He really makes you believe he is the devil. He played it so well he scared me. Did not understand the ending of this movie. How it ended one way then was reset back to the way it started. The girl who played his wife looked so fine with the long blond hair, hated she cut it, and she went crazy.
+William Wynn The Devil turned back time and is trying to find a new way to get Kevin to jump start the apocalypse.
Yeah, that seem to be idea. But it was a bit vague.
Yes, but he committed suicide, so he wouldn't have to serve the Devil's plan. So I think God will give him an exception.
William Wynn his wife in this is Charlize theron dude..
Al Pacino's plan was to bring apocalypse towards to humanity.Keanu killing himself prevented that that's why I believe he is still Pardoned by God because he sacrifice himself for the sake of humanity.
I feel they could have stripped away all the special effects in the movie, and it would still be a good flick... maybe better.

Colonel Sandurz listening to a different dark force, for orders.
Even if Keanu gave bad advice, the black lawyer was going to tell the other schmuck to walk anyways. Pacino told the guys at the firm that Keanu was their "golden boy" and would be shown favor at all costs.

How do you know all these things?
I don't know..
TRUE HUMBLENESS
this is how a sound man may answer..
the truth is that if you really know, you don't know how But you know you do!
no, the truth is that you never actually know, you just feel like you know.
When he asks how he knows that and Keanus character says I don't know they try to imply that it's because the devil is helping him read people but realistically a (good) lawyer would probably talk exactly like this basically word for word.
Depends on how good a judge of character he is. Few people are capable of 'reading" someone just based on a few details.
No. He actually read their inner emotions and feelings. A good lawyer wouldn’t be able to do that no matter how good they are. He read their souls which is why he is the devil’s son
@@c.galindo9639 yea I mean they were extra about it because he IS the Devils son but lawyers do really read people like that at least the expensive ones do. Trust me I spent plenty of time in court rooms back in the day and I had to hire an expensive lawyer twice who acted almost exactly like this dude manurisms and all.
@@florinivan6907 that's why I said a (good) lawyer cause yea only ones with years of experience would talk that way. A lawyer would be the perfect job for the devils son because they really do tend to read people maybe not this specifically but definitely to an extent that's noticeable. I mean if anything it makes them better at their jobs so they tend to notice minor details most people would look right past. Lawyers tend to have that smug swag to them like he does too lol
@@mysouthjerseylife I never said they couldn’t but knowing their emotions and feelings inside. That’s like reading their thoughts. An expensive lawyer is great at misguiding people so it seems like they are controlling others when it’s just a small mind game. They aren’t that good and don’t win every case
You know I was in the Marine Corps and they even taught us about this to look for people that are different, that look out of the obvious because in Iraq, terrorists were everywhere and they dressed like normal.

I watched all this to get me out of jury duty, and learned everything about it, should be no problem now oh that's right it was canceled IM FREEEEEEE
I like the jury selection room scene. Is that how the are selected? The prosecution and defense attorneys send the them? The music is this movie was good. V ominous.
how did Keanu Reeves win the case at the start of this movie? when the girl said... i didn't want to be the only one.., what did that prove and how did that win him the case? can someone please explain it to me, its bugged me for years.
Hope you didn't spend another 3 years being bugged lol, but if you did, here it is.
She blackmailed some other kids into claiming her rapist teacher also raped them because she didn't want to be the only victim to come forward. This revelation obviously nukes the entire case.
Well played.
Do you know what may happen after such an incident? Can the girl's family go for another case?
dikaiopolis ho My guess is the charges are dropped and the teacher can actually sue them/her for defamation and such. So I suppose they can't do much.
The judge would likely declare a mistrial and it would be up to the D.A whether to try him again. In real life the other girls probably would have told their parents that their friend was molested or said she was and them the parents would go to the police. The premise is kind of bullshit but the important thing was it was a test for Kevin set up by God and the Devil. When given the chance to sacrifice himself to redeem himself he did it giving God the win. But the devil enjoyed the competition for his soul and almost had him.
Walk…. Impressive
So is him smelling the wrong on the ol' scary one lol 🎉👃〰️

“Walk”
Guy was handpicked by the Boss and your thought is to give them an ultimatum between him and you. Good luck.
OK maybe RUclips wanted me to confess that I read something from Mr Keane face & then I became his fan. Alright yep I do read people only if they are not wearing makeup on face. My powers can't read beyond make up. I can't read clothes, habits it's the soul inside who tells the whole story. I'm not gonna tell what I read. But few things I can share if they are offensive his fans can tell me I'll delete my comment. He is very wise person. If he wants something he gonna get it. No girl can impress him with talk or dress up he can tell difference between fake truth nice or evil. He wants something from life I don't know what is that. Definitely something out of the box. Lord knows what it is. He is not sad he is serious personality. I don't think he talks much in real life. His friends from motorcycle company are very good people I've seen their picture they love him like he is a five year old boy. They would do anything for him. Few ladies they work for him they take him to give interview or see fans they also care for him more than anything. They were not wearing makeup so I read face. His mom is proud of him. His dad is so happy to be his dad saw his one photo. Sisters they are so happy satisfied from Lord for giving them such a good brother. That's not all. He thinks things that he won't tell us so they print on his facial expressions. I pray to Lord Jesus Christ to give him everything he wants for he is a great man, human being star .
Are there are supposed to be 5 clips? You know, 1/5, 2/5....Well, two out of five ain't bad🤥

They didn’t even consider me about a month ago when they called me for jury duty. I’m not too happy either. I wanted on that jury. Well at least I got into the courtroom. There are other possible jurors that had to wait in the waiting room and didn’t make it into the courtroom. I got to see the defendant. It was a robbery murder.
