2:37 This part always stood out to me for some reason. He senses Kevin's apprehension and simply asks... "You gonna fight for this thing or not?" There's so much encoded in that question and Pacino's delivery is perfect. He's basically saying "This isn't a free ride. I've been pampering your ego, but now it's time for you to perform." I worked for Blockbuster Video when this movie was released for home viewing. We had to put notices on every copy we had stating that the sculpture was used without the artists permission.

Earlier in the film, Milton tells Kevin that their law firm doesn't have anyone who deals with homicide and similar types of cases(which is what Kevin does). I think Kevin asked him why he needed a criminal lawyer or something like that, and Milton says "Our clients break the law just like anybody else. I'm just tired of sending their business across the street"(to other law firms). So in this scene, Milton is basically saying, "It's ours to lose!" because this is a huge case involving a rich and powerful client that _could_ make a lot of $ for any firm that wins it. Eddie Barzoon(the big guy) wants to call whoever they'd normally call but Milton is ready to trust Kevin. That's why he later asks Kevin, "You gonna fight for this thing, or what?" He was asking Kevin if he's ready to step up and prove he's as good as Milton tells everyone he is. I get the feeling that Kevin is who Milton hoped Eddie would be, and the other guy with the glasses seems like he's trying to show that he could(in his own way) be the protege Milton wants Kevin to be(or a 2nd one).

At first, that seemed odd but perhaps we can assume that the firm handles various matters for Colin. Eddie said that Colin was a business client and we later see them meeting at a development building, so it's fair to say that the client has a lot of legal matters that need attention. Given how many practice areas the firm is shown to cover during the introduction meeting with Kevin, it wouldn't surprise me if 3-4 different attorneys worked on Colin's matters and billed their hours separately, thus accounting for such a high number of billable hours in one year.

The sculpture? It's an interesting story. The sculptor Frederick Hart sued Warner because he said that was very similar to his sculpture Ex Nihilo, on Washington National Cathedral. He said that the use of the sculpture in the movie distorted its intended meaning, by portraying is as demonic rather than a representation of god. Warner Brothers settled and airbrushed it out to have a different look.
To avoid copyright infringement from Frederick Hart's sculpture, "Ex nihilo" that had appeared on the facade of "Episcopal National Cathedral" in Washington D.C. That's why.

Always thought that to be strange as even the tapes rented from blockbuster video had that as well.
Anyone have any idea or info why?
They were sued by the creator of a sculpture called 'Ex Nihilo' that sits in the National Cathedral in Washington who sued on the basis that the sculpture in the movie is too similar to the real one and was used without the artists consent.
@@ninjanoodle2674 I had vaguely heard a similar story amongst others and didnt know which was truth.
Ty for finally giving me clarity on this friend
@@cerebusrex-u1721 There was also the issue that the sculptor created a religious work and felt that his work was misused by the thematic part of the movie. Court’s got it right on this one. Worth reading about. We studied it a copyright class
@@miguelservetus9534 Much appreciated info my friend. Thank you
@@ninjanoodle2674 that's a shame. At least it wasn't some otherwise idiotic censorship. They should maybe try to change it for something 3d that's more on the spirit of the original, but distant enough, though. The thing they have replacing it looks almost like a cheap photoshop swirl-blur rather than a sculpture.
"Love the Art work"
Why did they digitally alter the sculpture later? Anything to do with copyrights?
Frederick E Hart the sculptor sued
I have Heard that its trumps appartament...confirm that?
@Guiseppe Ottaviani Yes, Al Pacino's apartment is trump's. Some scenes from the movie were filmed in trump tower in Manhattan New York.
They even mention Trump in the movie.
Not enough tacky gold everywhere. Trumps place looks like a pretentious whore house.
@@gjk2012 where exacly?
@@giuseppeottaviani2465 The Character Pam mentions him. Just watch the movie again.
1:00 I am glad that the Austrian emperor from Amadeus gained some weight and moved on to do bigger and better things.

Аль Пачино великолепно говорит по-русски 👍🏻
What did him and the other guy say?
This movie is an alternate version of The Matrix in which "the devil" is just someone who learned to free their mind and Neo hasn't caught on yet.
Man, as much as I love Keanu, this scene really shows: he has zero range. He can do Neo and John Wick, and he needs a good director. Here, he stands around like an extra
Volume too low
How many hours we bill alex colin last year?
16,442
Divide it by 24 thats 685 days
And what does that mean?🤔
At first, that seemed odd but perhaps we can assume that the firm handles various matters for Colin. Eddie said that Colin was a business client and we later see them meeting at a development building, so it's fair to say that the client has a lot of legal matters that need attention. Given how many practice areas the firm is shown to cover during the introduction meeting with Kevin, it wouldn't surprise me if 3-4 different attorneys worked on Colin's matters and billed their hours separately, thus accounting for such a high number of billable hours in one year.
Btw you can touch butterflies without hurting them. I did that a bunch of times. Just be gentle.
The real star of this movie is the chicken that plays Tic Tac Toe. He never loses!
Any Russian speakers that can tell us what that conversation is about, please?
I was trying my best to translate the telephone dialogue from Russian to English.
John Milton: Yuri (Russian male name), we will settle this, maybe at tomorrow evening, I will go to the meeting, all right?
Yuri: Convince him to take 20%!
John Milton: For what? He can't find it... We will "eat" him.
Yuri: Listen, Milton, you know what are you doing and I'm... (interrupted by Milton)
John Milton: Don't worry! Just a minute, all right? (switch to another caller)
Next part is hard to decipher for me mostly due to ambiguous Russian pronunciation.
John Milton (switching back to Yuri): Yuri, call me later, don't be a stranger.
Yuri: Goodbye!
@@Fontaami thanks
I love every Al Pacino's act in this movie except for his Korean-speaking scene here 0:20~. It's a pity this movie was very very popular in South Korea too.😅
Nice sculpture.
Never noticed the fireplace with the gate instead of a door or shield. Ah yes the devil is in the details..
Everywhere!!!!
There's only 8,760 hrs in a year 😂
Some people have even more sinister houses than that.
The devil is very interesting. A real.charmer. How would Gods view differ in tetms of the art of persuasion. Devil makes good points. God would have to sell us on why we shouldn't give in to temptation. The good guy.the one who keeps a stiff upper lip and does what he's told. Is there really a difference between good and evil.
When it's just the two of us with our advocates and I'm forced to find out and he has no idea wtf I witness! Lucifer oO

Why is the DVD version of the painting different?
The sculpture? It's an interesting story. The sculptor Frederick Hart sued Warner because he said that was very similar to his sculpture Ex Nihilo, on Washington National Cathedral. He said that the use of the sculpture in the movie distorted its intended meaning, by portraying is as demonic rather than a representation of god. Warner Brothers settled and airbrushed it out to have a different look.
sculptor Fredrick Hart sued the studio over the sculpture in the film which is a copy of Harts facade to the entrance of the Washington DC Cathedral
I never understood this monologue bout eddie barzoon, anyone care to elaborate please? ☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️
Why did they change it?
To avoid copyright infringement from Frederick Hart's sculpture, "Ex nihilo" that had appeared on the facade of "Episcopal National Cathedral" in Washington D.C. That's why.
@@JosephASobora This really always bothered me. I get it that it's the law, but the ones that lose in this is us, the viewers. The modified version is so inferior.
