@@EnderElectrics it's still very intuitive as it combines fun adventure esque gameplay with a 3d reimagining of Sonic 3. Plus I think this might be one person, which makes this VERY impressive if that's the case
I agree. It should also be locked during that boss fight if it's going to zoom out that far. If it was zoomed in and focused on Sonic, that fight would remind me of the 2nd(?) boss in Sonic Adventure 1 where the camera had Robotnik as a target.
@@zubair1149 The camera is _locked_ along the same axes as Sonic with little spring to it. That can be smoothed out so each pebble Sonic treads over doesn't cause the camera to tilt.

This looks so cool! I never would have imagined something as awesome as running on a wall behind a waterfall; it looks fantastic! It looks like the camera’s a bit shaky, but apart from that, no complaints!
This looks awesome. Hope this eventually becomes a real game. Even the soundtrack is the same as the original but slightly improved upon. Nice. Well done whoever did this!!
This looks pretty legit. I normally just watch these Sonic fan staged a bit and call it a day. But I actually enjoy this one enough to want to try it out.
This is the best 3D fan made sonic game I've ever seen. Great level design, beautiful art, awesome music, and well balanced gameplay of speed and platforming. Already better than Forces. Take notes, Sega.
this is how i imagined Angel Island all this years (of course i could love to have a more cinematic view of the Flying Battery shooting down sonic while you avoid the incoming fire and then the camera pans to a slightly side view of sonic and then Eggman appears in the distance in the woods) I hope somebody ends up porting this map to Gens so i can see this level with a more cinematic feeling because it does look like a somewhat official Angel Island map. One thing i kinda dislike of this engine is the camera, it looks "off" like its too "jittery" or lacks smoothness somehow, it looks awkward and not good at all but the rest feels serviciable enough i guess.
My thoughts the same. It's possible the level designers were originally designing the Green Hill zone, but then decided to turn it into Angel Island, to not parrot many other modders who also make GReen Hill in their demo.
@@digimaks no the only thought of green hill that crossed my mind was to not make green hill. but its to the point now that any zone with grass and stone is "green hill" im just making my favorite zones from the 2D era of sonic 2 and 3. lol i'm sure if i made mushroom hill its be, this screams of green hill with mushrooms lol
It just blows my mind that after 20 years Sega never thought to make an open world Sonic game. In the sense that the levels themselves were open world, not the hub.
These engines need to implement some kind of lock on with rows of rings that’s looser than the light dash. Something like, if you start running through rings, you automatically start running along that path unless you deliberately move against it?
Hero project still has the best looking controls and engine from what I've seen, it just doesn't have any actual levels. But if this person could design levels for that engine 👌
It took until 2020 finally get something like this in a fan game. HD Angel Island! Love it! Just needs the disappearing platforms and lowering water levels~ This is amazing though!
Now THIS is everything I've ever desired in 3D Sonic. Seems to take a bit from Spark the Electric Jester 2, which is nice. It's a plus that enemies actually CAN be dangerous if you attack recklessly. At first I was concerned with the first act because the momentum seemed a little spotty, but the second act cleared all doubts from my mind. It has excellent usage of branching paths, which could be really useful for Special Zone/Chaos Emerald acquisition. It has enough openness so that you can really feel like Sonic, but enough linearity to give you a good indication of where to go next. I give it a 9/10 because my only complaint is the choice of remixes instead of the actual OST.
Yeah, I know it's nit picking, but I picture Angel Island having a little more rough terrain than the fresh cut mini-golf course they have going on here. Those _flat_ patches of rock every now and then don't help either. It looks like ever other 3D remake Green Hill.
This is very VERY impressive. The level design, lighting, and colors are the best things about it, which makes it probably the best looking Sonic fan-game out there. However, the camera is pretty jittery and scene transitions are very abrupt. Also, this probably wouldn't work very well as a full game since it relies solely on Sonic 3
If this was made by Sonic team there would be 86 boost pads, 52 springs, 1 straight line and like 2 seconds of genuine gameplay. Also this 3d remake of 3 is stunning, my only concern is how Act 1's music sounds more like Act 2's in certain parts
why is it that every showcase video I watch has some random moment where the music and gameplay intertwine perfectly? it's like you guys do this on purpose 🙏😂😂
Does anyone else find, the better these remakes are, the easier it is to nit pick them? I think it's because the closer they get to perfect, the more I want them to reach that perfection
This is exactly what my dream game would look like. It’d be an open world sonic game akin to Breath of the Wild set on Angel Island! It could be reused stages but with twists, like Mario Odyssey. Like Hydrocity is missing all of its water, or Carnival Night has become a horror attraction, etc. The plot would be something like Angel Island has fallen, the Master Emeralds pieces are all over the island, and Knuckles is missing or trapped inside the pieces. As the game progresses, the bigger plot begins to unfold to be something more scary. It’d probably never come true due to the licensing issues, but I can dream.
I still feel weird about the lack of a Boost or side-step in areas where it feels like they're needed, but I really dig how ambitious this level design is, and the remixes are pretty banger too. Id' love to see something like this be attempted in the games, it's got potential.
