One thing that definitely sucks about this release is that it caused SEGA to delist all of the classic games on Steam so if you're new to the franchise and want to try just one of them legally, you have to buy this collection with mixed reception that nobody really has anything good to say about other than that it has cool cutscenes. That's not going to be a good look for any potential future fans.
We're already seeing people with bad taste-read: Forces fans-and plenty of new converts via the movies, as well as a lot of fans of a certain Vtuber, stan Generations 3, I mean Frontiers. Already a terrible look for the fanbase this decade.
I would have been fine personally if Origins released at $20 like Mania did. But for $40, this seems disappointingly underwhelming. I'd consider waiting for a sale or for the majority of the game bugs to get patched out, because this is not a good first impression.
It's so odd how Chaotix, 3D Blast and Spinball have dedicated sections in the artwork section, the OST section and their own islands.... but Chaotix's isn't present. Almost like they ran out of time and couldn't model a 6th island to use as an Options ground
The real explanation is that Sega barely gave the devs any time to put together S3&K and the rest so we're lucky it came out the way it did because it could have been so much worse sega sucks
@@SonicTheCutehog even so, it is a game that is not as aviable as the originals and would make the price a bit more justified. For this price it should include the majority of the 16 bit games
I don't know why they never port or remaster the Sonic Advance/Rush games since they are 2D, highly acclaimed, extremely beloved by the fanbase, and undeniable proof there are good sonic games after the Genesis.
Funnily enough, Mega Collection and Gems Collection are still the best representation for celebrating Sonic’s History to this day. The presentation of the menu screens and music, selection of games (even the more obscure ones like Flicky), and the usual artwork pieces and stuff, those just feel more celebratory than what Origins has to offer imo.
I bought mega collection plus for my PS2 again after seeing this. I couldn't spend 40 bucks for this. It looks so disappointing. And the PS2 game only cost me 12$
it's an overhyped port of those games that were already ported so many times like bruh sega should just start selling mega drives and mega drive games again
thank you thank you I've been saying that for a long time sonic mania was a remake but at least for me it felt like a breath of fresh air and then there's sonic origins which made me not care because I'm so burnt out at this point from so many remakes
@@EDifyer881 Wait... Exactly HOW is Sonic Mania a remake? Which Sonic game was being remade? Sonic Mania was a completely original game using nostalgia of the four Sonic games to supplement it but I don't know how anyone could call that a remake of anything.
Man, this game is seriously a “death-by-1000-cuts” situation. I love finally having an official console release of the remastered 2D Sonic games, and there’s clearly effort here unlike in SCU. But there’s so many bugs and quirks not present in the originals that it’s hard to recommend in its current state. If these problems weren’t here (and if Denuvo wasn’t a thing on PC), I’d have no trouble recommending it. If SEGA hasn’t learned by now from constantly pulling the unfinished anniversary release nonsense that killed the franchise, I don’t know if they ever will…
Fun fact: Not only are CD’s opening and endings back in 4:3, but the vocal tracks for the JP OST, You Can Do Anything & Cosmic Eternity, have their original vocals again unlike the 2011 remaster (mainly because when they were working on the 2011 remaster, the writer and co-singer of those songs Casey Rankin passed away in 2009 so they couldn’t obtain the rights to use the lyrics in time. Thankfully that’s changed since then)
Actually it used to have the vocals. At some point Sega removed them when they absolutely destroyed all the mobile ports by removing features and jamming ads into everything
...Not really but this should've been WAAAAAAY better for what its meant to be. It's far too rushed and unpolished on top of being rather unambitious with its features. When they advertise "new playable characters" I think it was fair for people to assume that they were going to add either Amy and/or Metal, not just Knuckles in Sonic 1 for the first time officially (Edit: Nvm lol). Mission Mode is a cool extra but it's just that, an extra. Having the drop dash in CD is busted but fun and makes the game better. Tails A.I. is awful in Sonic 2. Menu presentation is okay but you can clearly see where corners are cut with just imported generations models no Knuckles or Amy. Not to mention the technical issues some people are having with the PC version. Overall a decent and convenient place to play the classics and mod support should be good over time but as for the console versions it's overpriced and underwhelming. I don't regret my purchase but I would not recommend this to most people before a price cut. Sonic 3 A.I.R is still the best way to play 3&K currently if you can get it set up which is a little harder now since the Steam Version of Sonic 3 has been delisted which is utter crap when there are significant problems with the origins version.
i wish they go even further with the new playable characters thing and add characters like shadow, rouge, cream, or silver as playable characters i know they weren't in the classics but do you really think fans will care about that.
Sonic 3 A.I.R is the best! seriously, I advise anyone who wants many experiences in 1 Classic Sonic game to get it (Mine is Mania-fied lol, remixes slap though) but for anyone reading this comment, you should if not already get it, you will not be disappointed in the mod nor community that made it and other mods compatible with it. you can even inject your own things in it if you know how. It Works best on PC (and nobody get confused because it has both Original and prototype music) definitely Peak Sonic 3 Wish other games could be remastered like A.I.R but sadly the past sonic games don't have enough Zones to get A full remaster like that
Yeah Knuckles has been playable in Sonic 1 officially for 9 years, so "new playable characters" was total bullshit. There were no new characters at all.
My biggest gripe with Sonic Origins is shockingly, the input lag. I don't know if it's the PC version only or only on my end, but it feels it has more input lag than the games emulated or the decompilations... I thought these were supposed to be remakes, how the heck did this happen?
@@kieranstark7213 Wtf you talking about? Sonic Origins is basically mania 2, even in quality, both games came out terrible, and just like mania, I can already tell Origins is gonna get 1 billion updates to try to fix those issues the game haves and it still gonna be terrible but everyone will let it slide because it's classic Sonic. And classic Sonic equals perfection.
The point where I lost all confidence in this collection was when I saw the Ubisoft styled edition list. It was already a TERRIBLE concept when Ubisoft was doing it, but the fact that a Sonic collection is doing it is what killed any chance of me picking it up.
Ubisoft at least had better games for that list to work with. It wasnt a good idea, but it works much better for games intended to have massive expansion packs like ac or farcry, than for a basic classic games collection
I hope SEGA lets the devs patch Origins and possibility add new features (maybe has a Sonic Origins Plus, similar to what they did for Mania). The foundation for a great collection is there, it just needed more time in the oven
@@Euro.Patriot I wouldn’t say it’s bad, just not amazing. I do hope for a price drop in the future tho (which will probably happen given that most games drop in value after a while)
@@winterv.4715 The price is already bad enough. Why the fuck would you pay like $40 for the same game with new bugs along with the old ones? If it isn't as good as N. Sane Trilogy then it is not worth it. That's how you do a remake/remaster.
@@winterv.4715 There's literally no reason to waste all that money on the game. If you want better graphics use a computer where you can install countless mods. If you want Origins don't be a dumbfuck and spend your money on it, be a big brain and pirate it.
I actually won Sonic 3 in that McDonald's promotion. One day I came home from school and it was just sitting there in the mail box. I lost my shit as I rarely got new games except for my birthday and Christmas. From what I remember though it didn't come with the normal box; I just got the cartridge in a manilla envelope which I thought was weird.
It's great that you mentioned fan projects such as Sonic 3 A.I.R, because that's what SEGA is actually competing against, that's the the bar they have to at least reach, yet they don't.
A lot of these fan games are doing well against Sega. They’re actually giving us the content we wanna see and not just the Genesis hacks. Sonic Riders/Zero Gravity remastered hacks are a great example.
Yuji Naka has always been the bold type to just spit facts. I remember around when Unleashed was coming out that they interviewed Yuji Naka and Takashi Izuka separately. They were both asked the question if we would get another Sonic Adventure style game. Izuka gave use the boiler play answer of "I would love to work on another Adventure game and I think those games have a special taste to them, I'll always be looking to make another in the future", while Naka just said "this is the end of the Adventure era". This is probably a reason he keeps having troubles keeping jobs and deals with lots of HR issues. He basically seems to be completely unfiltered. It's like that dude who won't stop talking about how cool their guns are and how they would fight the government to keep them with stickers all over their truck. XD
I wouldn't praise Naka so much if I were you, sure he is talented, but he didn't want the X-treme team to use "his" nights engine, despite not being the only one who worked on it. Wanted to basically "take' other people's engine and then fire them. Keeps acting like he's "father of Sonic" despite the fact that Oshima should get that title instead. Keeps acting as if he's one-man show who created Sonic by himself, despite working with a team who's efforts he seems to be constantly downplaying. Left Sonic series with no qualms about during development of 06. And is the reason
@@sezunemizuhana3870 Those things aren't as cut and dry as you make them sound. -Sonic Team was already working on the game that would become Sonic Adventure around the time the X-Treme staff wanted to use the NiGHTS engine. There was obviously an interest in keeping the two games distinguishable and/or having one be the "definitive" way. And X-Treme was going to suck anyway. Good riddance. -All we have to "prove" that Yuji Naka wanted to take anyone's engine and have them shitcanned is secondhand hearsay. "Oh, THIS guy knew Japanese, and he's TOTALLY trustworthy LOL!" But if true, maybe he was still bitter about the X-Treme affair and refused to trust anyone Sega of America had hired, and thus wanted to hit them with their own medicine-or at least threaten it-to let them know how he felt. He was known to already have enough issues with Sega to briefly leave the company after the first Sonic game was done. That sort of revenge wouldn't be the best reaction, obviously, but people can change. Or maybe someone lied in that fashion to take advantage of the X-Treme affair. -Naka DID come up with a lot of Sonic's key traits despite not actually drawing the character himself, so, yes, he IS the "father" of Sonic. Naoto Ohshima is more the "mother" of Sonic who crafted the "body", Yasushi Yamaguchi (who was also Tails's main creator) is the "nurse" who picked out which "body" would be Sonic's, and Hirokazu Yasuhara is the "doctor" who made sure Sonic would be healthy via the first game's level design. They ALL created aspects of Sonic and deserve credit for it. Though Ohshima is a terrible general game designer as the Blinx games, Yoshi's New Island and Balan prove. -I'd say he's less downplaying his staff's efforts and more underestimating how hard they have it and how hard games are to make in general. He once called level design a "straightforward" job when it may perhaps be THE most difficult part of making games as levels are where everything else about a game has to come together and have to suit those things. I'd say that's actually the biggest root of his anger issues, with another being how his games often communicate themselves poorly suggesting that he himself may have problems communicating his ideas to his staff and not realize it, which is unfortunate as his ideas tend to be very specific and thus can only really work in a narrow variety of forms, which may be another thing that affected Balan. You get this one… sort of. -I'd leave Sega, too, if they were treating my "baby" like shit and wouldn't let me help anyway. And he DID feel remorseful later for not trying more. I wouldn't, though; Sega's clearly only in gaming for money and has no interest in setting aside time to have games refined. Kind of like Konami. Or EA. Or Ubisoft blah blah. Saddened, yes, but not remorseful.
God bless him for it. Though he does need to have a better grip on how hard game development in general can be and how to properly communicate his ideas to devs and players alike. He probably wouldn't have so many frustrations and rage episodes if that were so, even with how shitty a lot of those companies can be. Though Artoon/Arzest is particularly "special" as Naoto Ohshima seems to have his own ego problems and bitterness toward Naka dating back to when Sonic Adventure was being made. I suspect that Yuji Uekawa being made the new main art guy so Sonic wouldn't come off as excessively cutesy left Ohshima feeling unappreciated.
@@CarbonRollerCaco well the claims Naka used the engine as a linch pin really fits with his character in general. He has always been pretty bold to just say things out loud, has a history of issues with human resources (that was even the whole reason he was fired while making Balan Wonderworld), and fans that have met him have even noted him being resentful to his own fan base. Remember that he made the engine for nights into dreams himself and Sega were basically ignoring him entirely from approval. Of course in today game companies would easily over rule such a thing, but these were the days where 3D engines were basically nonexistent. You had to make your own and the nights engine was pretty good. It not only is in character for it to be true, but also makes sense for the time.
@@CarbonRollerCaco Majority of issues with Sonic are literally squarely on Sega of Japan. Naka behaved very unprofessionally, same goes for Sega of Japan.
If this compilation had the 4 remastered games and then Mean Bean, Spinball, 3D Blast, Knuckles Chaotix and some of the Game Gear games as extras then it would have been perfect. As it stands the compilation is pretty underwhelming.
I can already tell there are gonna billions of patches just like it was with mania. Although I'm amazed that people are genuinely criticizing something related to Classic Sonic. Back when Mania came out, everyone was sucking off the dick of that game, calling it perfect despite its actual quality.
Would have been great if Knuckles was in CD, we had playable Amy and metal in all the games and maybe an encore mode like mania to toss in some extra replay value and new content to make the collection feel more worth it.
@@luis-sophus-8227 the game mode itself is decent and not forcing you to play it for 100 percenting the game but stil recieving 2 new characters and some other stuff I kinfa forgot at the moment and it was fairly priced so I don't see the issue here?
It's really sad that everytime we get something new for Sonic people are "happy" with it just *working* Look at Sonic Colors ultimate. Literally got good scores despite day 1 being comparable if not worse than 06 but because some didn't experience it, it's justified by only the switch version having the right reviews. This is why I understand Radical Soda's distance from Sonic. Sonic origins shouldn't *be* questioned as the best version. *Yet it is*. and it's baffling to say the least. Doesn't even help that SEGA's lazyiness vs Headcannon's work is very jarring. J's you're right SEGA has been Sonic's worst enemy but just like how sonic is attached to SEGA, I as a sonic fan am attached to official disappointment until modders fix it up. tbh I'm tired of it.
Nah it wasn't bad like 06 in day one some glitches need you to enter and re-enter the stages over and over again in quick succession for them to appear in 06 you don't need that you experience bugs 24/7 in a normal playthrough. Not trying to say they should have released the game like that, no no no i'm just saying this comparison is too much
@@kauanjos3199 I don't know, i had game breaking stuff happening since stage 2. Like falling through floors and graphics freaking out. Regardless though I'm really tired of the state of sonic. I usually inform myself before buying games but it's hard to wait for me when it comes to sonic, this resulted in the only 2 games i refunded in the last like 15 years being Sonic forces and colors remaster. Glad i didn't bought this collection and definitely going to wait for frontier reviews.
This sums up my thoughts on the whole situation. I’m tired of these games being “passable” or “not 06.” I returned Origins due to its lackluster quality and frankly, I think Frontiers will be the make or break for me.
Fanworks should be used as a club against official releases, because people in their spare time put more effort into it than people who were paid to do it.
The main issue this time around was that the people who wanted to put effort into the game DID want to try, SEGA just didn't allow them to. It's happened time and time again and to be completely honest, J is right, corporate SEGA is at fault for Sonic not performing as well as he should be. This doesn't give me confidence for the release of Frontiers.
Speaking of the overpricing, I recently found out that if you get the Sonic 1, CD, and 2 remasters, along with Sonic 3 AIR, you can practically get Sonic Origins on mobile, and LITERALLY for free. Imagine SEGA saw this and just made Sonic Origins off-sale. Edit: Or they probably would make it free. Or (very) cheap considering the extra content.
The game itself is fine, I just wish it wasn’t $40. Like I really like the animated cutscenes and the use of the coins in special stages, the more fluid animations, I’m glad I can finally get the Chaos Emeralds in Sonic 2 legitimately. So I think it’s a neat little package, the problem is that it’s an expensive little package.
My biggest problem is it’s a worse version than the originals. I suffered so much lag and glitches during Hydrocity Zone that it completely ruined it, and I love that zone.
Hey J, maybe you've already addressed it before but would you consider doing a video on the fan game and modding community at some point? These days especially it feels like many fans are carrying Sonic through these years with some genuinely awesome projects like P-06, GT, BtS & AtS, SRB2, Utopia, Galactic, the entire Mania and Generations modding scenes, and S3 A.I.R. to name only a few. It would be kind of nice to highlight some of these projects and creators as a lot of them stand on their own and some are up there with some of the best official games.
Great video as usual. Respectful but honest, your content never ceases to compel me and I think you laid down a great review for this compilation and the way you see compilations as a whole.
The only people who would think Sonic Origins would deserve a “Replace” score from ExoParadigmGamer instead of a “Remaster” score at the very best best or a “Rebreak” score at the very worst would have to be Meta Era fanboys would would treat us like ungrateful Classic Sonic fanboys (even though Classic Sonic was great (the character, at least, because of his design that consists of a stubby round middle, black eyes (nothing against green eyes) and because at least back then, just before the three-dimensional magic that is the Adventure games for the Dreamcast, at least there was an excuse for Sonic to not have that much personality because what we really care about would have to be his innocent (albeit also out there) personality and skilled demeanour which was expanded upon with each game (the spin dash was introduced in the 16-bit Sonic 2), especially S3&K) less droopy quills back in the 1990s) when here THEY are being ungrateful Modern (and that excludes 2000s Sonic, the character (in the games) and most if not all of his games back then) Sonic fanboys who act like Sonic games nowadays (Colours for home consoles, Lost World, Rise of Lyric, Forces) are more badass and less meta (sure, even before the 2010s, Sonic did build its foundation on being a parody of cliches, but here, being overly self-referential, even towards how the franchise used to be, is the only way it could survive with Sega’s ire) than ever before, and that’s not counting Modern (aka Meta/2010s - early 2020s Era) Sonic games that are actually good like Mania or the 2013 remakes of Sonic 1 & 2 (the definitive versions, even when compared to the Sega Genesis versions which I think are decent, but Sonic 3 & Knuckles is a MASSIVE improvement!) and the Super Smash Bros. pentalogy if counting crossovers.
The definitive editions of Sonic 1 and 2 are Sonic 1 Forever and Sonic 2 Absolute, fan projects that expand the decompilations far more than the original 2013 releases did. I highly recommend them.
Worst part is they rushed a team that showed them time and time and time again they not only make quality games but they basically saved 2D Sonic. And this is how SEGA repays them
I’m five months late but I’m really not sure how that would work in a game like this. She can’t spindash (at least I don’t think so) and she can’t run fast either, especially in the classic games.
Sonic Origins is decent. I like the new animations and extras and having the remastered versions over just another emulation package is a great idea, it's just lacking in polish and doesn't add quite enough to justify THAT steep a price. If we get some bugfixes and maybe even some bonuses like Mania got later down the line, I may consider it worth its price.
So about 10:33, Jun Senoue, who previously composed the Sonic 4 soundtrack, made the Super Sonic theme for S3&K, Jun uses the same instrument set as Sonic the Hedgehog 4
Honestly, origins could've been great but sega messed it up somehow (especially with the music, they didn't even use the original prototypes) but personally, Sonic 3 A.I.R is where its at (best version of sonic 3 btw) and the other games are free on Mobile. The part that triggers me is that Sonic Mania 2 didn't happen because Sega decided to make this instead, Pretty sure Mania 2 would've got more praise than this ngl
What’s with some companies remastering already existing games that are over a decade old and setting them on a $40-60 price tag (Nintendo, SEGA)? I would’ve gotten an emulator and play them for free.
Yet, Capcom and even Konami of all companies, gives us remastered of these classic games like Mega Man & Castlevania that not only came out well, but was also cheaper.
The biggest problem with Sonic Origins for me is that, like you said, they didn’t really go that far in terms of further improving on what was already done in 2011 for CD and 2013 for 1 and 2… (like, why else would Knuckles not be in Sonic CD other than “he wasn’t in the 2011 version”) and it kinda becomes glaringly obvious how even less polished the implementation of Sonic 3 & Knuckles are compared to the other remakes, which already have weird issues compared to the mobile and 7th Gen system counterparts They probably are still the best official versions of these games (widescreen and removing lives alone can make a surprisingly huge difference), but the price and weird issues unique to this collection are definitely huge problems that need to be addressed
The developer was responsible for a good game, but Sega rushes the whole thing. Just as Sega decided to remove the older titles to force people to buy the Origins version
They added sharp pixels, are you happy now? do you feel good now? ARE YOU PROUD? ARE YOU SATISFIED? GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY! GIVE IT, GIVE IT NNNOOOOOOWWWW!!!!
The drop dash is nerfed in 1 and 2 because Sega is clueless and has no idea how to program it. Jun butchered the music because he has no idea how to make chiptune music. The music he made during the Genesis era were converted by the game programmers. They just...decided Mr. Sonic 4 was qualified lol.
The sad thing is. SEGA could of turned that L into a W by remaking every song in the collection with new compositions that are all based on matching/surpassing Sonic CD's style.
I think this collection would genuinely be worth $40 if Sega actually treated the games like they were worth that much. So much is wrong here... the drop dash having no animations in S1/2/CD, S3 slapping the genesis soundfont on bad PC midis instead of remastering the better 1103 music, Tails' AI, the complete butchering of music titles in the museum, the fact that the museum is dead silent to begin with, S3 resetting my emeralds progress every time I get to Lava Reef Act 2 (anyone else had this problem??)... I could go on. I grew up on Mega Collection and the S1/2/CD mobile ports, so I had really high standards for a collection that promised definitive ports of all four (five?) titles. Here's hoping for some patches and updates if SEGA is willing to let Headcannon do more work :(
I never bought any of those old sonic collections, so with just the wide screen and no live counter added I felt like this was perfectly good as a collection.
@@Deathsyth-ks8uz The Gems Collection had CD and different games (ones that aren't free on mobile for that matter), are you thinking of Mega Collection?
Sonic mega collection + sonic gems collection combined would effectively feature most of the classic era's games combined (except knuckles chaotix i believe is the only one missing). Those 2 collections each house at least 10 total games (some of which are random other sega titles, not just sonic). They may not be remasters, but they are far bettet collections than origins is.
@@Deathsyth-ks8uz To be fair, in his case, it’s probably better to get origins because of its availability and the fact you have to use a shitty GameCube Dpad to play. Otherwise, it’s superior.
@@papermario6856 I agree with everyone that the mega collections have more bang for your buck. It’s just the last time I ever played any of these was sonic 2 on my PSP (never played CD, 3&K), so I was fine dropping $40 to play these games.
I don't think you gave the Sonic 3 music changes ENOUGH crap. Listen to the Sonic 3 Prototype Remastered tracks on RUclips and directly compare them with what's in Origins. The atrocious downgrade is especially obvious with Carnival Night Act 1.
I'll find it when its on sale for $20 as that's how much I feel it should have been. Also when it comes to the pixelation I always want the most modern/smoothest animations so I always go soft pixels.
its depressing to know Sonic is only thrown into the dirt because of SEGA, the movie, the comics, the toys, they're great, but the output from SEGA is lacking compared to all of that, even the fangames. It's such a jarring decline in quality from the rest of the franchises current media. I would go as far to say if Frontiers isn't really good, Sega will probably just give up and license the IP out to developers who care, assuming they don't retire Sonic altogether and go the way of Konami.
It’s disgusting how Sega treats Sonic like a ragdoll when it was him that is responsible for getting them where they are today and back then in the 90s as a legitimate competitor to Nintendo, imagine if Nintendo did the same thing to Mario.
@@oscarperez9783 Which makes sense. So why not license out the IP? They get money from that, and they accrue more revenue from a product people actually want to buy worldwide. For example Sonic Mania. It's dead simple, though for whatever reason they only did it once. There are tons of studios and fans who could form new studios to take up the mantle of making mainline retail games, it's the better option if they want to keep the IP around at all.
@@oscarperez9783 Thoughts exactly. Considering how well that new Spark 3 game is coming they could just hire them to help make that new Sonic Adventure everyone wants, hah.
It was under NDA, but Sega sent me a survey where one of the questions was "When you hear Sega, what comes to mind?". I had to use that chance to remain professional, but explain why I associate Sega with lies and manipulation and tricking it's customers and never learning it's lessons. I suspect they'll never reach out to me again after that. I'm tired of half assed Sonic efforts, and is the only thing holding me back from being hyped for Frontiers. I also feel like the marketing for Frontiers is actively trying to harm our fan base. If anybody else signed up for that Sega surveys stuff, I hope you don't shill given the chance.
We've been saying time and time again "surely the finished product won't just be that, right?" We believed that Origins was hiding more features than what was shown in the promos, even believing you could do something as simple as Sonic having his sprite version be changable for each game from that icon in the corner of his sprite on the character select. We have to make up cool features to get hyped and pray that the game is at least playable. I'm also being cautious about frontiers, I wanted so badly to be hyped for an open-world Sonic game but it just looks so bland and unfinished - something we've been praying would be fixed for every other Sonic game and oh look it comes out exactly the same. We've even started to perform high-tier detective work and conspiracy crafting to look for excuses. Ohhh it's an earlier build according to this one guy who probably works at sega ooooh it'll probably get delayed according to this random source oohhh they just showed it off poorly because ign is evil and bad and stupid. It sucks so much.
I understand why you're angry at Sega for releasing half effort Sonic games (I am upset too), but I feel like most of the blame should be put on the fan base. They constantly make excuses for Sega, and their the reason why they don't have to try when making a Sonic game. If the fan base were to simply speak with their wallet, then Sega would be forced to try and make a good Sonic game.
@@greg4587 Yup, it feels depressing, but I spend my time hovering on the SSMB forums just reading about what's been found instead of actually being excited. It's okay though, we still care, so we watch, at least we haven't walked away. I hope I never reach the point where I walk away from Sonic. But it's happening more and more with all the things I loved at some point in my life. Video games feel like they still have the potential be the most changable and adaptable industry due to it's youth compared to the rest. This industry is carried by it's fans and we can change things over night. I don't care how long it takes or how much money they have to shell out to give me a decent product. And I also think it's pretty embarrassing when I, a guy who is making a fan game with no experience of coding, can programme a better drop dash. It hits another level the embarrassment when you are trying your best with a fraction of the resources. The problem? They don't care about Sonic as much as we do.
@@JustJohn43 Maybe Sega should sell Sonic? Would Nintendo handle Sonic better? I think if Frontiers fails, then it should be questioned if Sega should even own Sonic anymore.
Please don't compare Mania to Origins. It's painfully obvious that Mania is a once-in-a-lifetime miracle when corporate greed somehow couldn't defeat the fans' passion. And Origins is a usual cashgrab-bullshit, despite what Stealth said - Sega or whoever was rushing, it was still nothing like a decent project and wasn't going to be. You said it yourself: it's just 4 semi-decent ports/remasters that were slapped together, no soul or even trying. Even if they had more time - they wouldn't have used it, because "people will eat it the way it is". I don't believe these human cardboard-cutouts have any soul left there, just "bare minimum work" and "excuses" after people rage about the former.
If Sonic Origins was half the price and had more options it would be basically perfect. But it's not, so you're better off just playing the fan remakes instead. However origins is far from being terrible. It's pretty good, just really overpriced. Before origins you could officially get all 4 games on Steam for less than $10. Now all 4 cost $40 and it's the only official way to play them now as SEGA delisted all the old ones.
@@jaretco6423 Yeah, I know. Mania is hella cheap for the amount of content you were getting. However, the same team that worked on Mania also worked on Origins but they just weren't given enough time to put the time and care into it. Yes, the DLC is atrocious, unnecessary, and basically a scam, but who in their right mind would buy such a useless DLC for an extra $5? The DLC isn't anything cut out of the base releases, it's literally pointless extras with no real worth whatsoever. The only thing missing are just more games, which were never advertised or planned since the games announcement. Games like Sonic Spinball, Sonic 3D Blast, Knuckles' Chaotix, and all the 8 bit games like 8 bit Sonic 1 and 2, Sonic Chaos, Sonic Triple Trouble, and maybe even Sonic Blast? IDK but most of those games suck anyways so they would probably only be a novelty and a more accessible way to play them since most of those games have been lost to the emulation waters, not seeing a re-release basically ever.
I think it's fair to point out that the McDonalds promotion is not the only and deciding factor in why 3 and Knuckles were split; the game as a whole was also too big to fit onto cartridges at the time, and this was just as much, if not more, the reason the games were released separately. Also, 3 doesn't have a "special animation" for the rev up for the drop dash; that's the momentary invincibility shield that was introduced in 3. It's not cosmetic, it's functional.
I hate how features are scattered between versions, the difficulty select from jam, the arcade version recreations from ages, workshop support from the now delisted Genesis collection and now mission mode here
I wouldn't say Origins is bad. At all. A bad game is reserved for Sonic Forces. I'd jut say it had heaps of potential and just didn't live up to it. Other than that? The game's fine. Not the worse like everyone's exaggerating it to be but it could've been better.
I don't like this collection for a couple of reasons: -(PC) Denuvo DRM on PC: Years later, Sega hasn't learn anything. Even if it's not 100% noticeable it really would be when it does with input lag and stutters. -Overpriced with DLC: It speaks for itself. -Lack of customization: May had to do with the lack of time to develop this game, but hey, they added a mission mode, alright. -It's not totally polished: We already know why. -Physics have change a little: Breaking some specific scripted moments, not too terrible but if you were used to play in a certain way it would make a difference. -No lives for widescreen, no coins in classic mode. -(PC) 3D islands require a super nvidia graphics card for no goddamn reason. Could play this on my desktop computer without problems but my laptop can barely go through the menus, the games run fine though. -Inconsistency in design: Menus are all over the place. Game itself is fine, but again, Sega crippled this collection by no reason.
I wouldn't be surprised if the graphics card issue was because Sega used the Sonic Frontiers engine to make the menus. That game will probably be super demanding.
Sega on their way to make their most questionable decisions with their mascot at the same time of milking the nostalgia factor to its core. Green Hill Zone and Sky Sanctuary are in Sonic Frontiers btw.
Ugh...I'm not getting Frontiers. Give me the Adventure games on Switch and then I'll be happy when I no longer have to give a damn about this dead franchise.
Calling it a remaster is a tad generous dont we think? Resident Evil 2 was remastered, Spyro and Crash were remastered. This is a bundle package of rereleases, that have been given a quick once over with some new polish.
Sonic Origins seems like a functional bundle, but there are THREE major factors that make this a dealbreaker to me: First up is the Michael Jackson music for Sonic 3, it is all absent, even the music for Carnival Night, Ice Cap, and Launch Base. The replacement music just sounds really, really bad! (It's like nails on a chalkboard) The Second factor is the lives system has been replaced with coins in the Widescreen Modes, which removes all the challenge from these games, the coins just make all of this TOO EASY!! The Third One is Denuvo on PC, which can make the entire collection UNPLAYABLE!!! Sonic 1 Forever Sonic 2 Absolute Sonic 3 A.I.R. (With all the MJ music along with a couple of tracks from the past Sonic games) Sonic CD Restored & Knuckles Are still the definitive ways to play these titles. Why pay 40 bucks for this collection? I don't see the point when the MJ music is absent, you can't get Game Overs in Widescreen Mode, and Denuvo. Might get this on Nintendo Switch, but only on a DEEP discount. I've heard about the rush job on this Collection from other reviewers. What a mess... seriously, SEGA just needs to sell the Sonic Franchise to someone who would take much better care of it.
So the only problem you see with this collection is there’s no sharp pixels? I swear a lot of people will look at the TINIEST details to say something is super trash. I was expecting an ACTUAL list of issues and a full video of why this collection is bad but it was just put off at the end of the video (which are actually problems).
Ever since I saw HeadCannon's Tweets, I can only conclude and further agree that SEGA is the true cause and villain of hindering Sonic and Sonic Team's success and creativity. Not only do they further paint themselves in a negative light, but they are willing to compromise a product's quality and pressure developers with their inhumane and unjust deadlines, regardless of their own or fan developers of a franchise they love. Ever since reading and watching articles and videos about 06, I believe that the developers aren't the cause of the game being dubbed as the "worst and infamous" Sonic game of all time, 06 is far from infamous and worst, granted it's bad, but there are some good things in the game. And the same can be said to other Sonic Games that have been rushed or hated. Game developers are honest and hard-working people that provide us the best and actually care for a game's quality, but game publishing companies like SEGA and Rockstar, prove how little or no regard they have to developers' work on quality and care they want to put. And if they can't change at all, chances are, they will fail as a company for not learning and looking at the bigger picture and how their actions have consequences.
SEGA's executives have been strangling Sonic in the cradle since the beginning, look up the SEGA of Japan (executives) vs. SEGA of America (Sonic Team, STI) civil war.
I think the biggest issue with Origins is that it's not a bad *game* just a bad *collection* since Sega just took the Headcanon ports and taped them together in a somewhat presentable package. They should have left the entire collection up to them, and given them all the time they needed cause there was no need to rush this game out for Sonic's 31st birthday. It could have come out on his 32nd birthday or any day in between and there would be no difference in response (to the release date itself).
The other sour note that people aren’t talking about is that Sega delisted the original releases from prev generations on all store front forcing people to buy only origins and that’s it. They copied from Rockstars playbook.
The game would be fine and solid if it was $20. For $40, I expected to be highly quality with many features that would blow us away like changing sprites in game, new characters, more cutscenes, option to have lives or coins in anniversary, soundtracks that doesn’t sound compressed, etc. Of course not all games have to be perfect but I expect games with base price of $40 to be good along with having another classic like Sonic 3D Blast since it is canon (I think?) and gives more availability for old fans and newcomers.
My sonic experience was different than most people, I got into the franchise with Sonic Adventure 1, then 2, went backwards with Sonic Spinball, Sonic 2, S3&K, CD and Sonic 1 on PC, a good couple years before the mega collections even came out. The Mega collection plus was my SECOND time playing many of the older games. If their comps keep getting overall worse.. what's the point in them?
My experience is even MORE different than most people. I got into Colours, back to Secret Rings, then Lost World, then 1, 2 & CD, then Unleashed and Generations, then Mania and Forces, then 06, Heroes + Adventure 2 (never played Adventure 1), and now finally Sonic 3&K. Origins was fine, it’s convenient to play the classics, music change isn’t a big deal, that’s it.
@@KaiserMattTygore927 Unfortunately, the Classics weren’t available ideally on EVERY other console. The Switch didn’t have CD OR 3&K, while the other consoles had outdated ports.
I love sonic and it's sad they keep doing this to the games I am losing all faith in a good sonic game sonic colors I Hurd was bad sonic forces bad this game or games were good but they keep butchering them cause they are rushing them, It was a huge let down with the music as well the collection is so bare bones I'd rather pay 40 for sonic mega collection. if Sega keeps doing this I'm afraid we won't see any more sonic games unless someone buys him.
My main problems with this is that it's hella overpriced and has very poor optimization. Seriously, 40$ for 3 easily emulated mobile remasters and official A.I.R.? Extra addons like 3D islands, anniversary mode, museum are nice, ok. But not 40$. Seriously. Also, what's up with required PC setup? I can play Minecraft on 6 chunks medium settings in stable 60 fps, but I can't play Origins? Other than that, remasters are done nicely, addons are good and cutscenes are well-drawn
The fact that you get multiple tries to get the chaos emeralds (especially in Sonic 2 where it’s bs impossible) makes it a 10/10 for me. I think everyone expected too much from this, but I love it.
That was SOOO nice for me, too! I was finally able to be Hyper Sonic for the first time (yes, really)! The game was kinda what I expected once I found out Sonic Team was making it instead of Headcannon. In addition, as someone who’s always forced to only play the official versions of games (so no Dolphin or Sonic 3 A.I.R), it’s just really nice to have an official re-release of S3K on modern consoles! Overall, it definitely could have been much better, but I still think its fine, and hey, its still better than EITHER of the episodes of Sonic 4 (a REALLY low bar, but Origins and 4 were both made by Sonic Team, so I think they’re comparable). 7/10
Hey J, can you look at the 3D Pac man games someday in the future? All three Pac man world games, Both Ghostly Adventures games, and the upcoming Pac man world 1 remake.
@@kauanjos3199 I can agree. They're fun platformers with interesting concepts. Although fuck the chef boss in the first game. Other than that, they're fun games.
If Sega were not so adamant on rushing their Teams with an unrealistic time frame to get big projects out, I could have imagined Origins to have had 3D Blast, Spinball, Chaotix and Mean Bean included. They could have even implemented in game pick ups like red rings to unlock said other games on secret islands scattered across the map, just so much lost potential here. Not to mention them being cheap skates and not paying the Michael Estate to get the music back for Carnival Night, Ice Cap and Launch Base, considering how big of a remaster this was supposed to be all in one.
Good thing Sega is cool with fan projects unlike Nintendo who ordered a Cease and Desist on the guy who made ASMR2 and doesn't like it when people try to emulate they're games themselves.
Personally, I don't hate Sonic Origins because you do get to play the whole classic sonic experience in one passage, but it feels kinda pointless to buy the game when you can download earlier remasters/fan projects of the classic trilogy. I'm specifically talking about the Mobile ports for Sonic 1,2 and CD, Sonic Forever, Sonic 2 Absolute and Sonic 3 AIR.
I will wait for a sale on Steam and hopefully a hacker Will Add MJ's songs and Knuckles on Sonic CD by then. Maybe a function to use Drop Dash, Peel out and Insta Shield at the same time. Mania has that hack option and It rocks.
It's a pretty meh collection, the animation cutscences were a highlight, but I expected something better but then I remember this is Sega we are taking about. They really fumbled the bag here and it says a lot when the devs working on the Origns Handcannon were critical of how Sega has handled it.
I swear Sonic Team have an inferiority complex. The obvious course of action after Mania's success would've been to do this whole port using Mania as a base. Breathing new life into these old games with the higher framerate of animations, native widescreen support, better collision, etc. But Sonic Team seem almost jealous that Mania got so much praise with next to no involvement from them on the development side of things. So they decided to try and do Origins their own way, without the clearly superior Mania engine as a base. All they had to do was take Mania, mod in the level layouts from the original Genesis games, and call it a day. That would've been a better product than what we got. But instead, they tried to do their own Mania, and completely fumbled it, presenting something barely on par with basic emulation. Think about it. They chose to not use Mania as a base for this collection, and instead put in a ton of work just to make something about as good as an emulated rom. That's a massive waste of money and resources. Also, just wanna clarify, none of what I've just said applies to the animated cutscenes. Those are the only part of this collection that actually feels like it warrants the product being full price. That and the premium coin shop stuff. All those WIP animation cuts and model sheets are super cool bonus content, and definitely the kind of stuff we should be getting in these games.
So, basically SOJ vs SOA but with Sonic game developers. On the record; Christian Whitehead’s team has done more with one Sonic game meant to be an appetiser to a AAA than Sonic Team has done since Generations and they brought back five forgotten characters from the Classic Era no less. I would believe Sonic Team is jealous of Mania’s reception because of how their game for 2017 Sonic Forces has been treated with mixed to negative reception, more so for how it manages to waste so much potential including sandbagging their own new villain in his DLC backstory. Every time I look at Forces, I just wonder why isn’t the game to introduce the Satam characters to the canon proper or why is such a poorly written piece of crap that you have to count on fanfic writers to fix it’s problems.
Origins would be tolerable if the PC Ports didn't exist as near-perfect ways to play the original 3 games, S3 Soundtrack included. As it is, I'd rather pay SEGA £40 to delay the game than have it be released as it is. Also, input lag. There's a noticeable quantity that leaves the games feeling a little sticky to control, I think. That might just be me tho.
I can’t help but think that if sega pulled a valve and made it so their investors didn’t decide when their games would be released, the rushing wouldn’t be an issue.
It doesn’t “suck”, because fans can finally play the genesis trilogy on widescreen without using a phone. but it should’ve been so much better than what people got, and it sure as hell isn’t worth the $40-$45 price tag. Soundtrack issues with Sonic 3 aside, this should’ve been an easy layup for Sega and Sonic team, yet they somehow screwed it up. Doesn’t leave me with much faith for Frontiers
@@AJ_hwd954 technically anyone with a 2014 laptop or Desktop computer can play it, these games aren't that demanding, they're in fact easier to run than the PC version of Origins, now that not everyone wanted is another story but that doesn't mean fans couldn't
At this point, I’m just going to hunt down a gamecube, PlayStation 2, or original xbox for the sonic mega collection. Hell, I might hunt down a Saturn for sonic jam.
Sega in the past: Sonic 3 is canon separately from & Knuckles, pretty much just cuz Hyper forms and Super Tails Sega now: Have Sonic 3 & Knuckles, it's probably canon now..
My biggest gripe is that all the other classic sonic remasters by christian whitehead have been delisted, you can no longer buy sonic CD on its own from steam you must buy it through origins which is downright scummy
Hype for P-06 Silver release and Sonic Omens! Because I'm finally actually done with SEGA's bullshit. Maybe Frontiers will be cool as a used copy or through a Steam sale a year or two after release.
Anecdote: Silver should have had his own game but because of the fail of Sonic 2006, he didn't get his own game and remained a minor character like Blaze. Fortunately, Sonic IDW serie gives them a better role, even for Zavok and Metal Sonic.
"Classic Mode" Yeah right, I was downright expecting them to dump the original ROMs for the classic mode, the fact you can spindash in Sonic 1 is just so wrong
at least you acknowledged that fan devs dont appreciate their projects being plugged over official stuff i personally dont prefer fan stuff but they're really well done at least
Yeah, the simping for fan games is really annoying. I love fan stuff as much as the next guy, but going “😭 ChaosX is better” “😭Sega hire” “😭 Sonic is only alive because of the fans” is really annoying and toxic.
To be frank, that last quote is kinda true, if it werent for fan dedication, sonic wouldve died years ago. Hell sonic mania was basically a revival for sonic, its effectively the biggest reason sonic is still even slightly relevant (and it was mostly made... By fans...). Honestly i really think sega shouldve just given the main devs of mania what the fans asked for (mania 2, and possibly a better collection) while they had their main teams work on the next 3D title. They pretty much proved they're incompetent compared to 3rd party developers at this point.
@@fusionwing4208 i understand that but sucking fangames off like they're the second coming of christ when they have issues themselves is just weird to me not saying they're better, not saying sega's better just kinda don't appreciate people throwing the devs into the spotlight and having their project feel like its overshadowing headcannon or others
Yeah I hate that fangames just get paraded around as what x game could be. (I.e. What I want it to be) especially when said games would be criticised to hell and back if they were officially.
The obvious albatross around the neck of the Sonic franchise is SEGA I'm waiting for this thing to go on sale. It's overpriced and SEGA shipped an unfinished collection. And I'm probably not buying the PC version because Denuvo.
I want to play this collection but there's no Physical release. My Xbox one can only play physical games because my internet and account don't want to work with the Xbox store.
Honestly, I think it's a good compilation, but it could've been better. It should've included more features for 40 freaking dollars (or euros where I live) like I think achievements should've been included and a few games besides the original 4. Although the new features they added are good, like the drop dash was added in the sega ages version on switch, but besides that it was the original version, not the widescreen and better controls. Also the coins that allow you to retry special stages is a system I love because it makes sonic 2 fun to play. So it was good to see these actually in an improved version of these games. all things considered I think this collection is good, bit could've been better.

I agree
Nah it wasn't bad like 06 in day one some glitches need you to enter and re-enter the stages over and over again in quick succession for them to appear in 06 you don't need that you experience bugs 24/7 in a normal playthrough. Not trying to say they should have released the game like that, no no no i'm just saying this comparison is too much
@@kauanjos3199 I don't know, i had game breaking stuff happening since stage 2. Like falling through floors and graphics freaking out. Regardless though I'm really tired of the state of sonic.
@@brotbrotsen1100 I had issues with crashes and save file corruption in colors ultimate.

The definitive editions of Sonic 1 and 2 are Sonic 1 Forever and Sonic 2 Absolute, fan projects that expand the decompilations far more than the original 2013 releases did. I highly recommend them.
I really hate how Sega basically rushed the developers
Worst part is they rushed a team that showed them time and time and time again they not only make quality games but they basically saved 2D Sonic. And this is how SEGA repays them

Leave off fellow it looks so bad on HD screens.
You dare say that when they got rid of Ice Cap?! They're giving me a real hard time, y'know?

That explains a lot.
I have a hunch that Sega copied Nintendo, because they saw how Nintendo got away with their negligence.
Yet, Capcom and even Konami of all companies, gives us remastered of these classic games like Mega Man & Castlevania that not only came out well, but was also cheaper.
The biggest problem with Sonic Origins for me is that, like you said, they didn’t really go that far in terms of further improving on what was already done in 2011 for CD and 2013 for 1 and 2… (like, why else would Knuckles not be in Sonic CD other than “he wasn’t in the 2011 version”) and it kinda becomes glaringly obvious how even less polished the implementation of Sonic 3 & Knuckles are compared to the other remakes, which already have weird issues compared to the mobile and 7th Gen system counterparts
They probably are still the best official versions of these games (widescreen and removing lives alone can make a surprisingly huge difference), but the price and weird issues unique to this collection are definitely huge problems that need to be addressed
The developer was responsible for a good game, but Sega rushes the whole thing. Just as Sega decided to remove the older titles to force people to buy the Origins version

It's such a jarring decline in quality from the rest of the franchises current media. I would go as far to say if Frontiers isn't really good, Sega will probably just give up and license the IP out to developers who care, assuming they don't retire Sonic altogether and go the way of Konami.

We've been saying time and time again "surely the finished product won't just be that, right?"
We believed that Origins was hiding more features than what was shown in the promos, even believing you could do something as simple as Sonic having his sprite version be changable for each game from that icon in the corner of his sprite on the character select.
I understand why you're angry at Sega for releasing half effort Sonic games (I am upset too), but I feel like most of the blame should be put on the fan base. But it's happening more and more with all the things I loved at some point in my life. This industry is carried by it's fans and we can change things over night. I don't care how long it takes or how much money they have to shell out to give me a decent product. And I also think it's pretty embarrassing when I, a guy who is making a fan game with no experience of coding, can programme a better drop dash. Also, 3 doesn't have a "special animation" for the rev up for the drop dash; that's the momentary invincibility shield that was introduced in 3. It's not cosmetic, it's functional.

I don't like this collection for a couple of reasons:
-(PC) Denuvo DRM on PC: Years later, Sega hasn't learn anything.

Calling it a remaster is a tad generous dont we think? Resident Evil 2 was remastered, Spyro and Crash were remastered. This is a bundle package of rereleases, that have been given a quick once over with some new polish.
Those games where remade. Not remastered. This is a remaster. A lazy one now but it is what it is
Sonic Origins seems like a functional bundle, but there are THREE major factors that make this a dealbreaker to me:
First up is the Michael Jackson music for Sonic 3, it is all absent, even the music for Carnival Night, Ice Cap, and Launch Base. The replacement music just sounds really, really bad! (It's like nails on a chalkboard)
The Second factor is the lives system has been replaced with coins in the Widescreen Modes, which removes all the challenge from these games, the coins just make all of this TOO EASY!!
The Third One is Denuvo on PC, which can make the entire collection UNPLAYABLE!!!
Sonic 1 Forever
Sonic 2 Absolute
Sonic 3 A.I.R. (With all the MJ music along with a couple of tracks from the past Sonic games)
Sonic CD Restored & Knuckles
Are still the definitive ways to play these titles.
Why pay 40 bucks for this collection? I don't see the point when the MJ music is absent, you can't get Game Overs in Widescreen Mode, and Denuvo.

@@autobotstarscream765 It's true. Sega of Japan just doesn't care about Sonic... Especially since Sonic doesn't sell all that well in Japan

I think that ,now that sonic origins plus is a thing that makes the collection a 10/10 for me, you should do a video about that.
Theres still the sega classics collection
except Switch and Mobile, still bad, but hey, at least the Fan Remasters are safe, I think AIR has an alternative way to use it, but eh
The one thing that surprised me was they forgot to take away Sonic's Spindash in Sonic 1 Classic Mode
@@britishguy54dx i already own the classics on steam among 45 other ways so to me its not worth 40 bucks
Bland music can kill a stage imo
There shouldn't be DLC for a collection of old games the only point of it is cash
This should have have had all classic sonic games for 10$
The fact that you get multiple tries to get the chaos emeralds (especially in Sonic 2 where it’s bs impossible) makes it a 10/10 for me.
Is it worth $40 dollars though? I feel that that is a bit much for what's on offer...
Bro the 5 dollar version of sonic 3 and knuckles had a full on rewind and save state option if the special stages are that hard for you 💀
@@redbool1115 Sonic 2, not 3
Hey J, can you look at the 3D Pac man games someday in the future? All three Pac man world games, Both Ghostly Adventures games, and the upcoming Pac man world 1 remake.
The Pac is BaAa-Aa-Aack
@@Formula_Zero_EX That theme song is nostalgic and is kinda of a jam.
Man the ghostly adventures games were underrated i really liked them as a kid they were good platformers
@@kauanjos3199 I can agree. They're fun platformers with interesting concepts. Although fuck the chef boss in the first game. Other than that, they're fun games.
They have 5 years until Sonic's 40th anniversary, If Sega wants a good game AND finish on time, they better get started...
Wait, you guys actually think Sonic Colors Ultimate is a bad game? I thought it was a joke...
From what I saw the physics in Sonic 3 are also completely screwed up.
If you want to buy this compilation, I guess you should wait until a sale
I was sad when I found out Amy Rose was a DLC and not in the base game
It’s crazy that they thought they could get away with DLC for a game collection, seems really out of touch
"I wish there was playable Amy and Metal" Said bro
still no metal
Not really finally when Sonic 1 Forever, Sonic 2 Absolute and Sonic 3 AIR had widescreen already
@@speed3414 true, but not everyone can or wants to play games on PC. Those are really great versions nonetheless
I personally liked this collection but this should've been an easy dunk, I'm quite surprised how many flaws there are.
Sega in the past: Sonic 3 is canon separately from & Knuckles, pretty much just cuz Hyper forms and Super Tails
Sega now: Have Sonic 3 & Knuckles, it's probably canon now..
I feel kinda disappointed about Sonic Origins, because Michael Jackson Music were replaced
Sonic omens is inspired from Sonic unleashed.
@@carlosbleu7396 Okay. I like Sonic Unleashed.
Anecdote: Silver should have had his own game but because of the fail of Sonic 2006, he didn't get his own game and remained a minor character like Blaze. Fortunately, Sonic IDW serie gives them a better role, even for Zavok and Metal Sonic.
"Classic Mode"
Yeah right, I was downright expecting them to dump the original ROMs for the classic mode, the fact you can spindash in Sonic 1 is just so wrong
Bruh why do people always hate new sonic games
Because of the franchise’s spotty history combined with people who never shut up about the negatives of the series.
I actually skipped this collection and Bought the Capcom fighting game collection. At least they ported Games they never ported before.
at least you acknowledged that fan devs dont appreciate their projects being plugged over official stuff
i personally dont prefer fan stuff but they're really well done at least
Sonic mania iirc was a fan project turned official as well, kinda goes to show how much the fans care compared to sega .-.
@@fusionwing4208 i understand that but sucking fangames off like they're the second coming of christ when they have issues themselves is just weird to me
not saying they're better, not saying sega's better
just kinda don't appreciate people throwing the devs into the spotlight and having their project feel like its overshadowing headcannon or others
Yeah I hate that fangames just get paraded around as what x game could be. (I.e. What I want it to be) especially when said games would be criticised to hell and back if they were officially.
The obvious albatross around the neck of the Sonic franchise is SEGA
I'm waiting for this thing to go on sale. It's overpriced and SEGA shipped an unfinished collection. And I'm probably not buying the PC version because Denuvo.
I want to play this collection but there's no Physical release. My Xbox one can only play physical games because my internet and account don't want to work with the Xbox store.
It really feels fine so the game isn’t perfect but at this point it’s just nitpicking and hating on sega
It's weird that I didn't find any bug or glitch, my experience was 10/10.
