do people need to do the third usmle in general or can they say hey i dont want to go out on my own i want to stay a resident instead of doing things on my own
As a Pediatric Intensivist, what I absolutely love is the ability to apply physiology amongst all organ systems & also be with families during their most difficult times! Thanks for such an inspiring, accurate representation of this subspecialty @KevinJubbal.
I think another important factor to consider for PICU is that there will always be unexpected, sudden changes in patients, so you have to be okay with always being on your toes, like in emergency medicine. And you don't only respond to your own patients but also to patients in other units who may need higher level of care so you'll be running to other parts of the hospital. Thus, there will be multiple interruptions while you're trying to work. If you are the type who wants things under control and for things to go as planned, this may not suit you.
@@ruinaderoma haha definitely not. It’s like saying an endocrinologist is the same as a gastroenterologist. Both at one point trained as internists but definitely not the same after subspecialty.

Just an addition - your patients are sick. That's why they are in an ICU. Don't expect cute looking children. Also while the mortality rate is lower than adults, your patients still will sometimes die. And if you cant handle a mother screaming at the loss at her child or children on chemo fighting/dying to cancer don't go into this. While It's a beautiful specialty just go in With both eyes open.
Hello dear doctors, I'm 4th class med student . My native language is not English and its difficult for me to study English books but i must use english books , what's your advice ? Which course should I take ? I appreciate your helpful advices ❤
Hi Dr. Jubbal! I am wondering if you could make a video about medical scribing as a premed student? How to get certified, how to avoid getting scammed by a certifier, and how to choose a specialty? Maybe even how to make this experience relevant to med school applications?
It’s actually a good reason, which is that there’s not a lot of sick kids out there compared to adults. I guess the lower salary also weeds out people who are only in it for the money, so more pediatricians are passionate about their jobs.
Physician salary in any speciality is directly related to how many invasive procedures they perform. That's why surgical specialities are best paid. General pediatricians typically don't perform many invasive procedures, as those cases get referred out.
its my dream to be a pediatrician and work in a PICU, but I only have a 3.5 GPA, and an IEP. the people around me dont think i can accomplish it. i think the same. what shoud i do
Good day Med School Insiders so i wanted to ask that what if you are in a different country than America and what to become an OB/GYN in America but have no way how , so does your online programs of helping and preparing us for med school have any scholarship program for us
So you want to be a hand surgeon would be a great video. You can pursue hand fellowship through multiple specialties and it’s what Dr. Jubbal wanted to do!
I'm 14 and have wanted to be a doctor since..... forever !! . My parents do support me eventhough they are a bit doubtful , and are not completely sure if i will make it. But they did say they will support me no matter what, and i love them for it!!!!. I hope i will make it. I have a doubt to Dr Jabbal and all the docs reading this, i wanted to know if pre med is an actual thing, as in , if it is something like a course or its just 4 yrs of college and pre med is just like a name to let people know I'm aspiring to join med school? . I would be really grateful to have this answered!! If you have seen this comment in previous vids , it's not bcoz I'm a bot 😅, but bcoz i really want to clear this doubt!! Have a great day!!
Hey, I am currently 18 years old and I saw your comment. I’m unsure as well as you but I believe it depends on the type of doctor you want to be. But I do believe you have to complete the 4 years of college/university and pre med school. Also residency to help make your application more interesting .
What pediatric specialties would you like to see next? Comment below.

Why do physicians who choose peds get penalized with lower salaries?
It’s actually a good reason, which is that there’s not a lot of sick kids out there compared to adults. I guess the lower salary also weeds out people who are only in it for the money, so more pediatricians are passionate about their jobs.
@@irenicrose Hmmm…I guess then also it weeds out physicians that would have liked to have done peds but have the unfortunate reality of student loans.

@@user-kb4do9py6s Is that why radiologists and anesthesiologists make so much more money… because their procedures are so invasive?
@@edhcb9359 Invasive procedures generate more revenue. At the end of the day it all comes down to money.
