That is so cool when he showed "stuff" on the sea bottom!! I can just see it now, NICK B., TREASURE HUNTER !! Thank you to you both !!
I was so impressed by that, I've never seen it before!
Really informative video Nick, the Garmin system is great but very little online content of actually how to use it and all the features. Your video will help many of the Garmin users and CUSTOMERS who try very hard to get their heads around quite complex technologies and set up. Make sure you have correctly (& double check) Smugglers vessel dimensions etc have been correctly entered or all the outputs, including ‘depth’ and warnings will be out. A Part 2 to the Garmin system is awaited already!
Glad it was helpful!
It's going to be a fun summer playing with the toys. Can't wait for the videos reports.
I certainly hope so!
We've had some work done by Nick Broomfield. Excellent work. What your dash needs is a lovely dash cover from front ahead of the garmin display back past the wheel and throttle unit. That would keep off all dust and more importantly eliminates any sun damage when not in use. I'm sure you have local contacts who could make up a bespoke template with pockets for the garmin plotter and other kit and make a dash cover using same colour as your camper cover. It can be held in place with 4 poppers. That would finish it off beautifully. We had one made by flexicovers for our V39 dash. We're so glad we did it. If you look at the cost of the kit you have installed it's not a big deal. Good video. NB is a great marine electrician.
That's a good idea. Currently I put a big towel over it! 😄
@@AQUAHOLIC Shame on you. You have some fab kit installed, and needs protecting. Plus when installed will look really good and professional like the content on Aquaholic!!!!👍
Thats a nice peace of kit, not only safe and easy, but its always nice to have something new with buttons.
I get that. Congrats Nick, many safe plotted miles 👍👍
Thank you!
Again I'm at work nick looking forward to coffee and biscuits and Aquaholic when get in
Enjoy! 😃
That is absolutely brilliant! Cheers mate
You're very welcome! 🙂
I now need to buy a boat just to have that Garmin system!
Exactly!
Ha ha - sales language is special! A subwoofer is not just a subwoofer it becomes a WONDERFUL subwoofer! lol
Thanks for the update! 😎👍✨
No problem 👍
Properly kitted U P ! !
Smugglers Blues II has now officially joined the Twenty First Century !
Funds well invested, Nick.
I will admit to a twinge of envy. It's OK, as I know you'll continue sharing the adventures of "Blue and You".
Wow! Those charts are awesome. That route planner! The level of integration is superb. Impressive stuff. Make sure you remember to look up and check out the scenery while you're out, though ;-)
Thanks! Will do! 😄
Excellent piece of kit Nick, very cool. Thx for showing us this. 😊👍
Glad you enjoyed it! 🙂
I am about to install a smaller screen XVS unit so nice to see it in action.
Amazing bit of kit 😮
That Garmin system looks great!
Thankyou.
You're a lucky boy this season 👍
A nice piece of kit Nick, I could play with that all day.
Loving the toys. Enjoy the fruits of your labour, we are!
Living and boating in an area where the tides are a few decimeters, it always amazes me when I see people in Southern UK with tidal ranges spanning many meters!
Amazing ❤️ so much integration thanks to that NMEA 2000 network!
Thats just amazing all that stuff Garmin can do to make your boating easier. Great video 😀
Great demo!
Thanks!
Cool kit Nick!
Thanks!
Very interesting, neat-o on your upgrades!
Thanks!
Excellent video nick ⛵️🛥🚤
Thank you! 🙂
"You know where the nob is" 😂😂 laughed a bit too hard at the comment.
Cool and very capable setup, Nick! You missed a trick by not installing an autopilot so you could steer the boat from your watch! 😀 Maybe next year.
Saw some banding on the display again. It seems to depend on the camera angle.
Really enjoyed that video nick.. Happy boating.
Thanks 👍
The watch is brilliant!
So interesting and fabulous!
Thank you!
Great video, thanks ol" chap!
You're welcome!
This is a great video for me. It touched on a few things that seem to get utilized often and makes me want to try a bit more on learning. Thank you. From southern California.
Glad you enjoyed it! 🙂
So interesting. And I could hear the difference that the subwoofer made. 👍👍
Thanks Nick, I learnt a huge amount from this, I have similar gear Garmin GPSMAP 12.5 , Zipwake, Fusion etc on my new 2021 boat but the dealer who supplied the boat hasn’t set it up in this way- now I know what I need to ask them to do. Please do more videos like this.
Glad it was helpful!
Good afternoon Nick hope you’re doing well such an interesting piece of equipment the way it can Auto navigate to the point and you’ve got your engine data that’s just fantastic thank you so much Nick brilliant video as always
I'm glad you enjoyed it 🙂
There is much value to this kind of technology. I truly learned a lot by watching. Many thanks! 🤗 🍷
Glad it was helpful! 🙂
Very comprehensive great piece of kit indeed 👍
Now THAT is a nifty watch ;-)
Very cool stuff Nick! It really beats the old Loran C days which we thought was great at the time. Obviously boating was quite some time ago for me. I really do enjoy your videos. Thanks!
It was Decca for me. I remember looking at the very first chart plotter, a Cetrek 757 I think, green screen, incredibly basic, put the boat position roughly in the vacinity of the marina.
Looking good is smugglers blue nick
So as you drive down Bridge Road you can speak to your watch and have Smugglers nicely warmed up, the stereo playing and a course laid in to the chippy at Brixham Marina before you’ve set foot on the pontoon! All that’s needed is to automate the lines and fenders and you’re hands free for filming and not fishing🤠👍
Something like that! 😄
That's a very clever device, there's probably a day-long course to attend to get the most out of it there's so many strings to its bow.
nice setup! I think the actual power of those gramin gpsmaps is to configure yourself favorite screens (or smartmodes). like DOCKING, CRUISING OFFSHORE, CRUISING RIVER, ANCHOR. so you can quickly switch them and you setup the screens for the need. when you have multiple screens then it is really powerful, so you can have on one screen radar, on another engine data, on another camera, etc. if you have less screens you can use split screens - to divide screen for different data. like on docking I use read view camera, and rudder position indication, big size depth indicator. when cruising you want more engine info, more chart display. those are really practical things to tune the devices to your usecases. it takes time to setup, but really worth it.
Very nice
Great details thanks for sharing! 👍👍
Thanks for watching! 👍🏻👍🏻
@@AQUAHOLIC 👍👍
Wowsers. High tech indeed
Nic hasn't got a fishing rod, he has a paddle board!
Informative as always! thanks, Nic!
My pleasure!
Really enjoyable video can I ask how long it took to do all the work and get it all fitted onto your boat?
I think it was about a week.
WOW JUST WOW what a system I can see a lot of potential videos coming up soon with you looking over recks and rocks and looking for fish but most importantly looking to see if there are any sharks 🦈 hiding under yours or Greg's boats before you go on the paddle board's lol look forward to seeing some more of your system in use and got to say that's probably the best upgrade I've seen on smugglers apart from smugglers its self
Thank you!
as you have the 24xd GPS antenna it has built in basic heading sensor, I believe they have not calibrated it. it should show correct boat orientation even when you are not moving - that's the point of a heading sensor. often installers do not read manuals. also if not done yet, you configure on zipwake to use external N2K GPS sensor (instead of built-in) - so that all units use same GPS source.
I use Garmim hand-held GPS systems for hiking. Similar to your jpg logo start up, a lot of people don't know there is a file called "startup.txt" on Garmin GPS devices that you can edit if you hook the GPS to a PC. What use? Put your name/phone/email on it so if lost it can be returned. What's the probability of a hill-walker returning a GPS? Something in excess of 90% in my experience, as the "Lost & Found" sections of mountaineering websites suggest.
That's cunning
I'm afraid I haven't got a clue what all the technical bits and pieces are ( so sue me 😂) but I do know all of this will help Nick enjoy his trips out more with safety and comfort in mind. Finding boats on Garmin you want to see if Greg and his lady😮 have left Brixton Harbour. Can you find them?
Is thete autopilot on this system?
She's looking good is Smugglers Blue with her very useful extra electronic ( got the right word 😊) she'll give you much pleasure this boating season.
Will Greg be coming over to check out your new toys.
Bound to be I should imagine! 😄
Thank you Nick, could you share some of the costs involved with your upgrades?
All the prices are here: www.garmin.com/
Awesome updates to Smugglers!! May I ask why you went Garmin say compared to raymarine ?
It's very nice kit and great integration with the watch, phone, tabs, music etc.
That is amazing. I want to buy a boat just to have that chart plotter.

@@AQUAHOLIC really appreciate the info
Hi Nick, On the audio front, the sub-woofa is installed in the cockpit area, do you have a second unit in the cabin or do the frequencies from the cockpit unit carry / saturate the cabin as well?
No, just the cockpit. If I was in the cabin I'd turn the cockpit zone down as would probably be in a marina. Technically it would be nice to have one there, but if we're inside we're stopped, with none of the loud ambient noise to compensate for, so not quite as important.
Really helpful and useful video. Just out of interest, could you connect via your laptop or PC. So you could set out your waypoints and routes at home. Ping them over to the boat and when you turn up you just turn in and go?
I don't know, but you could do it with an iPad I'm sure using the app.
the chirp transducer seems to be showing something on the top. is is also some missing callibration due to using in-hull transducer? should be blue on the top, and then one bottom, now seems you have two bottoms :)
Hoi Nick vandaag heb ik een vlog bekeken van een Aquador 33 HT een geweldige boot met twee vaste hutten prachtige indeling van voor na achteren goed over nagedacht wellicht eens aan je kijkers laten zien.👍💯
I did a search on the boat you suggest, and up popped an article Nick had written about it in 'Motorboat and Yachting' magazine back in April of 2010!
Will you although link your Lights in the next Winter?
NICK AQUAHOLIC WILL NEVER EVER DISAPPOINT
🏝😎👙🍾👙🥂👙🥃🎉
You're very kind 🙂
Nice upgrades Nick, How much roughly?
All the prices are here: www.garmin.com/
@@AQUAHOLIC did not look at the prices, the Garmin screen is so amazing and very clever and should enhance your trips out.
Hi Nick. An important question for Garmin and their Network (something I’ve had Raymarine looking into) the question arises from the loss of my Sailboat due to an attack by a wrecking gang working New York Harbour, and the attack was facilitated by a New Jersey State Police helicopter hacking my boat network, and seriously interfering with the gps chart plotter throwing boat direction all over the place, and after rebooting to attempt to recover the situation, found that all of my charts had been deleted, after which the wrecking gang moved in masquerading as New York Harbour Employees, who got me to follow them. So I hit on what is needed- a full system wipe menu option to remove any malware and viruses, then a Restore menu of Backup options, from simple and fast get out of Dodge safely through to a full system restore once you have the boat in a place of safety. Backups to be on Read Only positioned Memory sticks kept in small Faraday Cage boxes in various locations out of the way on the boat. So if Garmin can offer that level of Network protection and recovery, frankly I’m interested. PS Once the New Jersey local Police grasped the extent of the State Police involvement in serious crimes including Murder, I was given an armed Policewoman Bodyguard while I was in their Custody, and those Local Police officers were a real Credit to their Oaths and their uniforms. They impressed me. ❤ Bob.🤔🌟🌟🌟👍
It seems to be Always raining in the UK.. is this normal ?
I expect you've answered this before, but where did the name Smugglers Blues come from?
Another informative video.
I'm a huge Miami Vice fan. Smuggler's Blues was the name of one of the episodes.
Nice.
I thought it was the song by Glen Frey.
@@seanellis1324 The song was used in the episode, and indeed Glen Frey starred in it! ruclips.net/video/QtlsqSYZQ0E/видео.htmlsi=8J9aLPCmzzCxlorR
Can you connect your MacBook to the garmin and plan your Trip at Home and just copy to the Garmin, when you come to the Boat?
I don't know, but you could do it with an iPad I'm sure using the app.
Can you Display your Boat with the right Scale on the Maps, corosponding to the Position of the GPS antenna?
No, it's simply an icon to show where you are on the map, it's not to scale.
Nick could you do one on refuelling and emptying grey matter etc please
Enjoy! ruclips.net/video/uyz0QEozzZM/видео.htmlsi=5lnB9LTIMY8VquKv
@@AQUAHOLIC many thanks for that
Pretty long boot up time for the Garmin.
Under 1h and or 1h gang 0:22 😂
Also why on a Garmin can’t u see a google satellite view .. as per a RAYMARINE ??? Just wondering
You can - it's an option to choose.
How many times did you say fantastic Nick ?
Eleventyseven 😄
@@AQUAHOLIC I thought so.
Always good to know where your knob is………..
I didn't remember the name of the boat 😂😂😂
Is this sponsored by Garmin or did you pay for the equipment and installtiin? If sponsored, it would be nice to have this disclosed. This sounds like a 26 minutes commercial for the new tech and its brands.
Boo!
Boring and too long.
