You do a great job on keeping her looking good Nick
Thank you! 🙂
So interesting to see the upgrades and maintenance required for the "non obvious" items that you need to do for a boat. Thank you Nick!
Glad it was helpful!
Hi Nick. You know you're a hopeless boathead when you get excited by an anchor....... it's bloody GORGEOUS! Cheers S 👍
Boat is looking great Nick. Thanks for the mention, always a pleasure to do work for you 👍
Brilliant work !!
One would never guess that you are a boat geek. I love your pride of ownership. Each of the upgrades is smart and practical. I am particularly impressed by the new anchor and by the tender system. May you and your bride have many more years of enjoyment on the water.
Thank you very much 🙂
Thanks Nick for doing the Carbon Monoxide mentions and some people have commented below so the message definitely got through so thanks again. The Emma Louise tragedy was awful but we might prevent another occurrence with help from people like yourself. Thanks again Nick.
Nice video, as ever, Nick. I did spot the shiny new anchor on a previous video and I believe someone else spotted the watch. All very good upgrades and I am so glad that you mentioned and enforced the requirement for the Carbon Monoxide alarms, VERY IMPORTANT. The davits are a top buy.
You can get a combo Smoke & CO2 Alarm detector that is both electrical & battery backup that will speak to you & let you know what triggered it or when the battery needs replacing. They are 10 year lifecycle. These boat upgrades are great & one hopes you will never need most of the safety ones but the insurances they give your Type A personality gives you much peace of mind. Good job Nick 👍🇨🇦🙏
I love how you have made this boat your own, the upgrades are considered and are so much based in experience of what makes sense to improve the usability of a boat. Keep up the fantastic tours and please let us continue to enjoy the improvements Smugglers Blues 2 undergoes.
All very useful and worthwhile upgrades but I do like the tender system, simple non-fussy & practical and the best part, the electronic aspect of it will never let you down! Thanks for the Yacht Club membership, Stay Safe & Keep Reporting!!
Thanks for watching! 🙂
14:00 and 15:00 absolutely the best kit !!!! All others are convenient, lovely, and of course helpful. These units have literally saved us ( and hundreds of others I'm sure ) " Don't leave the dock without it ". Thank you Nick for a Smuggler's update, she's the best on your channel!
Couldn't agree more!
Yes Carbon Monoxide alarm is a must, I have 5 in my home, they can save your life!
There's a very happy chapie loving all the new bits and well werth the wait for the video now you just have to both make time to enjoy them speaking of which the weather down there this weekend is serpose to be very hot looking forward to more you/marianne/smugglers videos
We used to put an old tire over the posts holding our peer up and nail pieces of old tire to the edges where boat docks. Your customized guards with Aqaholic logo look much more professional. 😀 🛥
Great Video Nick, I use Fire Angel in my houses, the remote monitoring of them is very useful for when I'm away from home gives great peace of mind, that and the CCTV monitoring over the 'tinternet lets me keep an eye as to what's happening and that the gardener did actually cut the grass when he said he did ;)
Very nice Azimut 39 in the background
Thanks so much Nick.
S.B. is has been so well taken care of it almost looks new. I particularly liked the new dingy contraption and the new (blue) canopy! Enjoy the summer!
Thank you, we'll try! 🙂
One could write a booklet, suffice it to say; these are smart upgrades and innovative solutions, money well spent sir.
Thank you 🙂
Like that dingy solution pretty slick! 👍👍
Thanks, Nick, especially the safety info.
Excellent video. No wasted time, you are prepared, you have great dexterity which is entertaining, you know your topic and your enthusiasm for boats and boating is infectious,.
Glad you enjoyed it! 🙂
Fantastic information. Safety 1st, always. I am a journalholic and prefer things written rather than on the phone. I would have a list of everything on the vessel which has an expiration date to it, because in case the power goes out, there is a back-up. And the journal does not need a battery, or a charge to see it! Call it old school, but it works. Glad to see that you have made these modifications - and upgrades to Smuggler's. I especially like the tender and the way that you have fitted it on the aft section. Very well done. The anchor looks terrific and has a great way to be tucked almost away when not in use. I would keep a list of the checks that need to be done before departure - especially the carbon warning box and the fire extinguishers. You are doing your viewers such a great service. Thank you so much! 🤗 🍷
Glad you enjoyed it 🙂
A friend watches you for the watches you wear. Which watch, I've wondered aloud - the watch he's wearing. Well. Wonderful upgrades - Cool Epirb. The anchor is SUE WHEAT - especially that flip around trick. Dingy mounts - all so cool. Thanks so much for sharing.
Thanks for watching 🙂
I've got that same tender apparatus, and it's absolutely fantastic. Great choice!
The boat looks so well looked after. All these extra things are so cool. Great vlog Nick!
Thanks so much!
You are allowed to be proud! 👍😎
Thank you 🙂
Such a great boat. Love the upgrades. I also really enjoy the mix of content on your videos. Thx.
Glad you enjoy it! 🙂
Great improvements! Thank you again for yet another nice video. I wish you and your family a nice summer!. Greetings from Norway.
Thank you! You too! 🙂
Hi, have a great summer and thanks your video .👍👍
Thank you! You too!
We had Snap Davits on a Falcon 27 back in the late 90's....they were great, but you couldn't remove the clips. This is a great improvement.
They have been around a very long time. (Falcon 27 was a great boat, especially with twin 205hp V6 engines!)
@@AQUAHOLIC Ours had a single V8, an ex demonstrator from the factory in Norfolk. It was quick!
@@gordonsimpson3235 Nice!!
Love the upgrades kept the neck! I love a blue canvas that looks great. Enjoy.
Absolutely Fabulous upgrades !!!
Thank you kindly!
You are welcome Nick
I’ve been waiting for this and it hasn’t disappointed! Amazing upgrades, that anchor looks stunning. Brilliant video thanks Nick!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Aloha; well done sir! We enjoyed your upgrades and the show-and-tell you shared with us all. We also encourage you to do more of these (upgrades) - your vessel and others who'd be willing to "share." It's extremely helpful for us not-so-boat owners to keep up on what's new - not only in boats and yachts - but also the little gadgets and services that, as you said so eloquently, keep us safe and life aboard more pleasurable. Now to that galley upgrade! 🤣Mahalo nui loa.
Thank you kindly 🙂
Great video Nick, nice to see how much you care about your boat and the people aboard. I like the app, love this kind of thing I would get one if only I had a boat. I have smoke alarms on all 3 floors of my house wired into the mains with battery back up and carbon monoxide alarms as well, you cant be to safe. Thank you for the tour.
Totally agree. I have a smoke alarm on each floor at home (3 of them) that link up through Bluetooth so that if one goes off, they all do. Mind you, REALLY loud if someone burns the toast! 😄
As always top job, looks awesome cant wait for some more videos on your boat showing use of the upgrades
Glad you enjoyed it 🙂
Love the anchor and the dinghy upgrade really cool.
That VirCru is clever. Thanks for pointing it out and explaining it.
Glad it was helpful! 🙂
Brilliant Nick.
Davits are great for tender storage. May I suggest you look at a Stainless staple for your tender to lean against and tie too.
It serves to keep the duckboard clear, whilst being a handy rail when not holding the tender.
Some add bbqs or outboard brackets etc too.
We love ours, it also helps us to climb out the water after swim. Good sturdy rail.
Great video as ever Nick! Smugglers looking great, enjoy the fab upgrades well worth while, looking forward to seeing the dinghy in action for a run ashore on the next smugglers outing 😎
Great upgrades and the boat is very clean. Good Job.
great video,keep them coming.
Have a great summer 🔆
Thanks, you too! 🙂
LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!!!!
nice to see you are proud of your boat .you do a great job keeping it up just like you channel. Love your stuff keep it up. Thank you
You're very kind 🙂
Loved all of the upgrades, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Very well explained, Nick. Hope all your upgrades give you excellent service.
Thank you kindly!
Great advice. Boats and rvs need to have a carbon monoxide alarm. I personally know some people who almost had a tragedy on an rv because of an exhaust leak. People don't realize how dangerous it is and you will never realize it is happening without that device. Thanks Nick
Nick, I really enjoyed this video.
Keep these videos coming.
Thanks, will do! 🙂
Love the upgrade for your tender. This is exactly what I have been looking for!!!! Now to go shopping 🙂
Tell them I sent you! 😄
🇦🇺 Totally awesome Nick. Thank you so much. Safety cannot be underestimated at any time & those bits & bobs you’ve added really make a difference. I alway cringe when you see “Sunday” sailors in their tank top & 2 metre tinny with the 15 Ho Johnson sail out through the heads heading towards New Zealand, possibly never to heard or seen of again.
Lovely tour thanks so much. 🙏
Glad you enjoyed it 🙂
Such a lovely boat , quite clearly well looked after , but then I believe it works both ways , look after the boat and it will look after you , love the upgrades , thanks Nick
Totally agree. 🙂
Some great updates on Smuglers Blue.
Nice to see the fish 🎣
Well Done 👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed it 🙂
She looks good with her new upgrade that not only makes her beautiful but also helps with yours and Marianne health and safety while on your gal.
Those conventional powder extinguishers make a mess if you have to use them.
They use soda powder - which creeps into every corner, eats away paint and insulation of electric wiring. To get rid of it you have to take everything apart. Really - everything.
Plus, spray time is very limited - they are bulky, they are heavy and have to be replaced regularly.
Gas extinguishers are a lot better. Invented by the Russians for their "MIR" space station, they are very light (~700 grams) and compact. They use a combustion process to produce inert gas - a bit like a road flare. The small ones work for 50 seconds - the big ones 100 seconds. That is waay longer than any conventional extinguisher.
After about a minute, the gas decays - so it won't gas you in confined spaces - like on a boat. And they never run out of date.
Yes - they cost a bit more - but IMO they're worth every penny.
I love that tender holder. That is brilliant!
Thanks! 🙂
Hi Nick.
Thank you for the info. I can attest to the fact that my wife and I had our lives saved by the very type of Carbon Monoxide alarm you demonstrate in your review. Our central heating boiler had a baffle that became dislodged in some cold weather last February causing CO emissions to leak into our house. You cannot smell this gas but the alarm sounded and once alerted I rang the power company who came over in 15 minutes and condemned our system shutting it down and surrounding the now defunct gas boiler with black and yellow tape. The technician said he had never seen such a high reading - we are lucky to be alive thanks to the alarm unit!
That is scary! They cost so little too, mad not to have them really.
Interesting , Thank You . Such good ideas
Glad you like them!
Smugglers Looking great nick plus all safety devices up to date as you say very important that they are serviced band up to date
that makes smuggler a hightech vessel now! excellente! yada yadas! 👍👍
Love it! You keep it clean and I think the updates are super smart!
Keep up the awesome work!
Thank you 🙂
316 grade, marine grade spot on, people think stainless steel doesn’t rust.
Very nice upgrades Nick.
Thanks! 🙂
That anchor is sick
There is no end in improving the boat and her equpiment. The trap must to say, but... Desired , expected.and approved. I really appreciate the solution for a rib or dinghy for such a small boat. So simple and so effective. BTW, there were not any socks themselves. It makes me sad and confused. :)
I like all your 'Upgrades',and Kudos for doing them.
Looking good Nick all clever stuff 👍
Great update Nick
Thank you!
Love your enthusiasm for all things boating. I’m sure I’m not alone thinking if you move up your boat will sell in an hour. Thanks for the tour 😊
Glad you enjoyed it 🙂
Awesome, Loving these Friday smugglers uploads, Will watch this evening with a cold one 👍
Enjoy! 🙂
Great video. Love the Davit solution
Thanks!
Great entertainment... It makes me feel very lucky as a relative novice boater as my 1989 Fjord Touring 930 that I bought last year had had several of the same updates that you too have made, already. What a fine hobby we have chosen.....
That is a really nice boat you've bought. Enjoy! 😃
I think the best solution for the dingy problem would be a bigger boat!...but your solution is pretty nice.
I did consider a Princess 43 with a high/low platform and a Williams, there was just the one small problem with that... 😄
The Boat is looking Beautiful Nick... amazing the tender solution !!!! Thanks to yourself and Marianne I am doing my Level 2 Powerboat Handling soon 😎hopefully Aug/Sept in UK. Best regards to you both 😊
AWESOME!! Best of luck with it. 😃
Hi Nick, love the videos. We have done something similar with our dinghy on the back of our Sealine so now, when we are mooring etc, we can easily walk full width of the bathing platform without tripping over ropes or stand-off bars. It makes life so much easier. We actually fitted an eye for the stand off bar at the bathing platform end of the snap davit. Have a look for yourself. You walk past our boat every time you go to yours (although you always seem to be rushing by 😂)
We are going to do the same and fit eyes on the platform, the supplied metalwork doesn't look very foot friendly! Will take a look at yours. 🙂
Please video this for us, thanks.
Most enjoyable and interesting, great presentation too. So love this channel
Glad you enjoy it! 🙂
Awesome detailed descriptions. As always!!
Glad you enjoyed it 🙂
Thank you Nick. I enjoyed watching this. Your boat is looking top notch.
Glad you enjoyed it. 🙂
Perfect upgrades. Love the tender handler. Great video as usual. 😊
Glad you enjoyed it!
That tender thingy is a great idea
Some nice upgrades Nick 👌🏻
Just sold my motorboat, on the survey the surveyor picked up on the swivel attached to the anchor, what he said was ‘MCA recommends that these swivels shouldn’t be attached directly to the anchor, there should be a couple of links of chain in between’
When I queried this with the surveyor, he said if the boat changes direction whilst anchored the chain doesn’t have full movement and could potentially pull out and cause the boat to drag the anchor,
When I asked numerous chandeliers they were all stumped as to why the surveyor would say that, as the manufacturers of said anchors say they are fine to use with swivel direct to the anchor,
The surveyor also mentioned that my 12kg anchor wasn’t heavy enough for a 24ft motorboat, quoting the ‘MCA’ again 🙈
Obviously my purchaser didn’t know boats and took the surveyors word as gospel,
They have some odd ideas sometimes.
Brilliant vlog
Glad you enjoyed it 🙂
Great upgrades Nick - as you say keeps the boat looking fantastic. Took your advice on the carbon monoxide detector and bought one immediately - great recommendation. Thank you
That's great to hear. 🙂
Your boat looks much newer than that - You've taken great care of her. You can see the love!
Thank you 🙂
I'm Ex-RNLI & HM Coastguard - and this is a really interesting, educative, and very-well narrated video thanks :)
Glad you enjoyed it!
Boat is looking fantastic nick ⛵️🚤🛥👍👍👍👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👏👏👏👏👏
Thanks 👍
Great upgrades!
Thanks!
My favourite video every year just love seeing the upgrades. Great job as usual
Glad you enjoyed it!
love the new spinnaker. i notice you also have a watch that appears to be an all black pvd coating on another video. never seen that one before how about a "watches of aquaholic" video!!
this is a brilliant video. all the safety upgrades are quite smart. thanks for doing this.
Brilliant saftey advice. Too many people die at sea, waiting for coast guard, when nearby boats could have rescued them 👍👍
I agree, it's a really good feature.
I never understand why they make fenders and in this case fender pads in black. If I was to come aboard wearing black soled shoes Nick would throw me overboard. Why don't they only install white fender pads? 6:34 that system is stunning!! Applause from me! This is a great video Nick...ha! As usual! I like how you don't have the biggest boat in the marina but your channel is pulling in enormous numbers. Your boat is an everyman sized boat, even though I couldn't afford a boat like it. It's nice to see someone with a modest cruiser making such a name for himself. I salute you and Marianne.
The issue with black soled shoes is it leaving marks (if you're as old as me you'll remember all the black 'skid marks' on school corridor floors). The fender pads are made from a material that doesn't leave marks so it's not a problem (but I agree, it would be terrible if they did), and of course white ones would look very grubby very quickly. I'm so glad you are enjoying the channel. 🙂
Perfect boat.
Lovely boat Nick !
Thank you! 🙂
Weoo done nick. Great video.
Thanks! 🙂
Very nice monitoring system!
What great upgrades those cleats for holding the tender brilliant idea, that anchor is a piece of art and the other things rescue kit monitoring system really good.
Bet your over the moon 🌙 with them.
As for Carbon Monoxide detectors an absolute must have in your home, caravan, boat wherever.
Ours on the landing also a fire Angel with a blue light so in case of a smoke filled landing we can see the stairs. Only a few £/$ extra
Great video Nick and Marrianne see you on the next instalment 😀
Glad you enjoyed it 🙂
Nick, I love your boating watch. :-D Yes, I'm a watch geek.
There are a few of us about... 🙂
Awesome boat bud. I love it.
Many thanks! 🙂
Great Video Nick
Like the snap davits and the advice on extinguishers and life jackets.
However you do not mention there is a subscription cost with vircru.
It is an expensive system and there are other ways of monitoring batteries with a simple Victron Battery monitor that had an app that is free!
Tracks are available if you have a Garmin system. So an expensive system for what it does.
But each to their own. Your boat is now packed with kit so you should get a good price if you ever buy a bigger one. Thanks for a great video.
Good point. Fortunately it's on their website if anyone pursues it.
What a great idea for the dingy
