- It’s no longer a surprise to me that when I’m the busiest, it looks like I’m doing the least online. The truth is, I prefer the, “real world” chaos and also highly recommend it if you get the chance. Vlog #55 is an attempt to catch back up on a few of the many musical adventures that filled up the end of 2023 for me.
I still have rehearsals, recordings and shows left to do this year but this will likely be my last entry to my video diary here on RUclips in 23. If you follow me & my music then some of these songs, venues and fellow musicians may already be familiar to you and if not, this vlog may be a slightly confusing introduction but there are 54 other vlogs if you’d like a review.
Most of all, I’d like to wish each of you Happy Holidays and I hope you had things in your life this year that made you smile. I also truly appreciate all of your support and interest in my music and creations in all of their forms.
I’m 19 years old and I’m a professional musician, songwriter & artist based out of Nashville. I play lots of instruments but the ones that I’m hired to play most often are drums, cajon and bass. I’ve been posting music related videos on RUclips since I was 9 years old and began playing professionally at 14. I’ve always loved music and I’m grateful that it’s also become how I now make a living. This channel started as a combination of my fascination with drums and RUclipsrs and it’s now turned into a much larger music and music business diary. My goals haven’t changed all that much over the years and stay pretty simple. I’d love to keep making music and hope to keep getting better at it.

Yes, Mia, the eternal tides of the great oceans pluck at the finest and purest strings of our minds and hearts and seem to call us back to their shores and waters, for these same tides are creatively within all of us. When I was in that same area of New England, I was sure I would miss both Rhode Island and Maryland, but I found them both, possibly in the same hour. I empathize with your good fortune and wish you more in the way you want it for yourself. And you didn't have to consult your encyclopaedia on all the best franchise food emporiums in America to find Rhode Island.. You're a wonderfully adaptable person and artist who just keeps getting better.
I may, mia Mia, be way out in left field on this point, but I have no way of knowing, so here goes. By random chaotic chance (the same way I found you wailing away on a drum kit at age 9), I found a concert and PBS special featuring Jesse Cook & friends. He's theoretically a flamenco guitarist. Within the collection of musicians he fronts are some amazing artists. I was ASTONISHED to see a flamenco cajon player. Cajons were not normally part of Spanish music, but they are now. The possibilities of the cajon seems endless. It crossed my mind that as a "Cajonist" you would appreciate what is being done with this instrument. I can't send it to you, so if motivated you'll have to search for it in these two concerts. 1. Jesse Cook: Live In Concert, 2. Jesse Cook: One Night At The Metropolis (2007). By another pure act of random chaotic chance, Jesse Cook is a Canadian and one of the top flamenco guitarists working today. He's not a "cajonist". This is purely for information purposes. I appreciate that all the instruments that you play are important to you.

I completely agree... at the VERY least, a band that I'm playing in :) Seriously tho, if the first part of the year is any indication, I'll be playing one way or another all over the US and probably some in Europe so hopefully we can make that happen.

:) solid advice - I honestly give breaking bones some pretty serious thought and have for awhile now. It could present a fairly significant problem for me depending on the details.

Dave Grohl wrote all lyrics and played all instruments himself on the first Foo Fighters album. He did not tell anyone since he thought no one took a one person band serious. Today Foo Fighters are the best band of their genre. Mia, you clearly have the talent and spirit of Dave. Niw find the courage to let other people play your music - create a band. The only thing better than Foo Fighters would be Foo Fighters with a female front. Go for it :)
I do that occasionally and I will absolutely do it in the future :) For now, the challenge and the finances of my one-woman-band are SO fun but someday, count on it.

Now that I've seen your vlog, I realized that your sunnies are not ski goggles. Since you were in New England, I jumped to conclusions. Secondly, when Beth wrote her name backwards, I said natch. I can do it too. It's actually a mirror image of my right hand signature, done with my left hand. I bet you can do it too, without practice. Try it.
