    Use a set of old apex seals in place when your stacking.. Leave the top facing corner seals and springs out.. Sit rotors down then pull old apex seals out and install new. 👍Then you won't have to worry about corner seals moving around.
    Yip only remove one apex at a time.
    Another good tip is to clamp the housings down as you go. This stops the water retention o rings from getting pinched.
    Especially if you use vasolone which expands rubber.
    Use hylomar instead

    Built my first 12a the other day. Started with the wrong plate. Got to the top and doh! Won’t do that again 😂. Other than that went pretty smooth. 105 to 110psi compression test. 250km in, its still running🍿. Thank you Rad Potential🤟

      Yeah took it apart. Good practice lol. No engine stand. Just built off 10l bucket! Will invest in one now tho to make next time a little easier. You are an inspiration man! Keep up the good work! Love your honesty in the vids 👌

    I be breaking shit al the time but recently.
    I bought a fiero with a bad head gasket, bad enough when I took the head off most of the cylinders had anti freeze in them. Replaced the head gasket, and it was smoking worse than before I "fixed" it. I said screw, i'm driving it, it's probably just got a lot of moisture build up in the exhaust I need to get out. Crop dusted my neighborhood a couple times and it still looked like a vape convention. So I bore scoped through the spark plug holes to check if i maybe was still getting water in, thought I saw a hole in one of my pistons. Came up with this elaborate reason why my valve must have stuck and bit the piston. Couple weeks later I finally pulled the head back off, everything was perfectly fine - i had just neglected to change the valve seals in the head so it was pouring oil onto my pistons.

  • @tylerdurden7067
    @tylerdurden7067 2 года назад

    I have a really dumb question. So I’ve watched 2 dozen videos on how to rebuild a rotary but in one video you said something about just doing coolant seals being easier because you didn’t have to clearance the side seals, etc. Won’t all that stuff come loose or fall out when you start to take the sections apart?

    • @RADPotential
      @RADPotential  2 года назад +1

      so if you just have a coolant seal issue, you can disassemble the engine, note every seals location so you put it back EXACTLY how you took it apart, IE all the tolerances will be how they were. Replace the coolant seals as you re-assemble the engine. It is a bit tedious to keep track of everything as you disassemble it, but not too bad.

    Do you port your engines yourself? What tools would you recommend? I have a dremel but I probably need some better bits. Planning on bridgeporting my rx8 after I experiment on a few junk irons.

    • @RADPotential
      @RADPotential  2 года назад

      yep I do my own porting, I use an air grinder, some good carbide bits, and then an electric dremel for the tight bridges and stone cleanup after. ruclips.net/video/XPCOCI9txFg/видео.html

    My 13b bp n/a new build has smoke constantly coming out of the breather on the oil neck and after running for 10mins the radiator overflow with fill and water come out of it. Also a lot of smoke from the exhaust. I’m thinking oil control rings may not be in right and maybe blow by past side seals? Any help would be amazing. Thanks

    • @RADPotential
      @RADPotential  2 года назад

      If it's pressurizing the coolant system. I'd start with coolant seals. What does the smoke smell like?

    • @getpumpedheatpumps2273
      @getpumpedheatpumps2273 2 года назад

      @@RADPotential Thanks. When I built it I did notice the wall on the housing by the coolant seal, in the compression area, had pitting and didn't look amazing. I'm thinking its the spot were pressure is leaking. Big sad!. The smoke smells sweet and is white. Its been hard to start as a fresh build and I've had to pour fuel down the webber to get it to start.

    Man i remember helping my friend rebuild his rx8.
    we put the eshaft backwards and realized when it was time to add flywheel
    unfortunately it all ended when he tightned an oil injector without the line and the
    engine wouldnt turn over. Took it appart and saw the bump on the housing haha man that was the worst
