Hey guys welcome to my channel! The name's Clayton but if subscribe to my channel and consider yourself my friend you can call me..... Clayton lol! WHAT DO YOU THINK? Ill be responding to all of your comments in the next video
Do you get edgeups?
What about rinsing your Locs to hide lint?
Wait what if I dye without bleaching?
Not follicle.... hair follicle is underneath scalp
How do you keep your hairline? Do you get lineups?
Going to a professional who knows what they are doing is the safest way to get it done. There are products that actually rebuild the bonds that are broken during the lightening process. Allowing the hair to keep its integrity.
Love the different camera angles!
Love your content, I still think your locs are just amazing! Make more videos please!
Talk about your experience with frizz, public reactions, comments, working, etc
Great informative video!!! You look great, and so does your hair👀. Thank you 🙏🏽
I have had my locs for about 7 years, and have never dyed my hair. However, for my 40th birthday I'm really considering it. Idk probably a rinse. Thanks for the information.
I've dyed my locs 3 times(2 self dye jobs) since I started them 4 years ago and I've noticed recently about 4 of them with spongy or unraveled ends. I'm still considering a temporary color but will DEFINITELY go to a specialist this time. BTW... I like the dual camera angles.
When you dye your locs, you must put the nutrients back in your hair, through deep conditioning. I have dyed my hair twice and my colorist treated my hair right after. No issues at all. Some I get a second deep weeks later to further treat. I go to a professional, I never attempt to do color on
My own.. that’s crazy..
I've done my own, and they've been fine. But I'm intuitive and in touch with myself - so, if I "felt" off about it, I wouldnt do it as that's a sign. Some people are intuitive and know their body better than other people know their's.
@@AffordableREI Yes, I've been growing locks for almost 20years and I've only gotten them done by a professional 2x. I don't like having them touched by too many people. I dyed them myself a few times. It's amazing to see all of these people that never had dreadlocks try to give professional advice. Smh. Everything they overcharge you to do in a salon (coloring, deep conditioning etc) can be done at home with time and patience.🙏🏾
It's not crazy when you know what your doing but most people aren't planning to be a stylist as I do
Make sense. I believe that our locs are our antennas. The way we connect to the environment. I did permanent dye. I’m about 3 years in. I’m going to cut them this weekend and start fresh from the new growth. Thanks bro! Great information.
Thank you. I needed to see this video could confirm the notion of leaving my loc's alone. Now I do know about all the damage that color causes but I guess I needed to hear it from someone who's been through it. Your locs are very beautiful regardless of what damage you may have experienced. My hair is blue Black so it would take a mountain to lift it so I am better off leaving bleach alone...maybe I will go for hair paint instead.
Mz Nurú can u sub to my channel I’m 11 I made the channel 2-3 days ago and have 5 subs can u please help me and sub I made a dread video
My GAWD you’re beautiful
Good Lordt ain't he🤤🤤🤤
Lol
Thank you. I appreciate it
Yepppppp.
Yes he is
Thank you for making this video I’m 2 months in and I was def bout to dye mine but I want healthy and I rather have healthy locs I will jus throw a wig on it or dye a few dreads with L’Oréal highlights
Glad I found this. I was goi going to buy some dye today and get busy but I don't think it's necessary now 😊
I was obsessed with dying my locs. I went from being a red head to a blond. My locs were looking good too! Then l noticed how hard, dry, brittle, and weak they were becoming. I didn't think it strange. After all, l was going to a "Professional". My locs were uneven and thinning, big time. I started to tie knots in them. In order to keep them attached. I had to eventually cut them off (5-2-19). I had been growing them for 17 years. This was a lesson learned for me, at the expense of losing my hair. 😥 This time around, there will be no dye. It is not good for your locs. Take heed to what this man is saying. Don't allow vanity to make you think your exempt. I been there, done that. Now l know better. 😌
Gr8 input. Thank you so much. I've only dyed my hair once my entire life and that was a reddish/bronze color. That was many, many years ago and have just never ventured to do it again. Now, I'm strongly considering doing henna. Like Black, once you have henna, you can never go back. LOL
Trippie redd always have died locs since years but his hair look really healthy
Do them your self
@@GvGGJhftuzsybq7q7z yeah i noticed that to but maybe for him hes lucky
You have to admit its an individual thing too. Tons of ppl have dyed their locs and still maintain healthy hair.
Your loc’s look amazing! I love the different lengths!✨
Do you have a spiritual connection to your loc’s?
Congrats on the 10k
I have curly hair, getting my hair “professionally” dyed was the biggest mistake I ever made… I started my locs 10/12/2012… This October 2022 will make 10 years. So no matter how I conditioned my hair (using protein on my hair didn’t help either) my locs became dry, brittle and the dyed parts started coming out. My locs are now down to my waist since I cut the dyed parts off. Before I cut it my locs were almost down to my knees, but dying it ruined my length😏🥹
Great video! I’m glad I saw this because people try to encourage me to dye it and I have not felt comfortable for fears of what you shared here. Appreciate the knowledge! Have you tried henna on your locs? Thanks 😊
Hey Logan, I enjoyed your video. I've been researching ways to color my locks and remove the grey and was just about to do henna when I learned that once you do that you have no options for other color. Lots to consider. Thanks for the talk!
The description had me dead 😂😂😂
😭
You’re SO CUTE...I love your style
I had to watch the video 3 times 🤦🏾♀️. You are so pleasant on the eyes.
Yes he is fine
Dyed my hair red recently wished I would’ve found this video sooner
Thank you brotha for the information great video 😀
Thank you for this video... my hair is naturally dark brown... and changes in the spring and summer lighter ... snd darker in the fall and winter...so I will let my natrual hair color changing with the season shine...instead of using a chemical to color (dying )it
Congratulations🎊🎉
Great video! I've never considered whether my locs could be all even lengths if I had never bleached them. I've had mine for 15+ years and did not, in fact, treat them with anything but natural products for the first 10. They were never equal lengths despite pruning them (rarely). They did definitely produce significantly more fallout after bleaching. I imagine that abstaining from bleaching will aid with reducing uneveness but I don't think anyone's locs would ever grow evenly.
I’m 5 years deep but I’ve never dyed my hair… my hair is all the same length and I’ve never cut them
thank you bro this was the answers i was looking for
I do not bleach period. I color mine maybe once a year but i deep condition the hell out of my locs. I clip my ends as well. People fail to realize the same way you clip your split ends before you had locs you clip them as well. I got scissor happy and cut three inches off.
What's the best way to cover these gray hair. That makes me look old. The black hair dye just last a week or 2.
Gorgeous locs great video 😊
I like the even locs more than the straight ones and you are correct about dye damaging your hair I have had my locs for 10ths and dyed them twice and my end’s definitely began to weaken and fall off
I say if your gonna dye em wait until they are long and only do it once
Dam I was just talking about dying my locs after this I’m good ✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾 Gratitude this shit was painful watching the damage
You can use wax. You'll just have to do an acv or wash with dawn to make sure there isnt any buildup
Thank you for the information keep cool young man.
quick question. What if you dont want your locs to get really long and u cut them normally when they get too long is that still bad for your locs? wouldnt you be cutting off the dead ends and over time new ends form?
🤣🤣Not completely true🙄🙄🙄🙄😒 I dye my hair all the time and I've never experienced none of those. I have thick healthy hair, it all depends on how your hair type I belive.
Thank you! I'm like this isn't for everyone.
same
I agree the thicker and healthier your hair the more it can withstand cuz my hair has been thru it all perms dyes hot combs flat irons all types of hair styles more dyes and I just started my loc journey and my hair is still fine
Still no problems with your hair?
True ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for the info, I appreciate it
You explained this great! Thanks I don't wanna damage my locs but wanted blue tips.... Oh well🤷🏿 that's a no
Tips should be fine though.
@@greenleesuperfan I still dyed it🤷🏿🤦🏿😂
Yo I’m about it dye my tips blue as well. Any tips?
Aren't the edges falling out because the end of dreads are essentially hair that would have been shed so they aren't attached by the follicle?
This is so true! I cut mine and then started my locs over after growing them for 4 1/2 years for this exact reason! Didnt even bleach mine, but the dye definitely destroys your hair and you will absolutely see the consequences of it years down the road. Even after maintaining them properly, added nutrients back in, keeping them moisturized, washed, conditioned, etc. You cannot undo the damage that it does.
Even if you dye your dreads at the ends not touching the root?
@@lilmanq7746 that mean you would also have to cut them if you wanna maintain healthy locs afterwards, so if you care about length thas another ting, depends what reasons you grow them for . . . a tip to help the hairline too, if you notice it is stressing/receding your hairline or anything, leave literally, a F e w mm's from the roots of your locs and taper your hairline instead, it should protect your hairline, for the majority of its lifespan, for most people and also leave lots of room for fuzzy growth for the roots behind the hairline to keep its natural feel, don't go crazy with tapering all the time either - and make use of essential oils !
I love your videos! Do you think dying the tips of my locs would still be bad for my hair?
Yes he covered that in the video saying it will damage the hair in the long run if u dont plan on having locs for a long tine then bleach it until you hair falls out
I am so glad I watch your video. I swear I was looking on " How to dye your Dread Locks". My dread Locks are very thick and all the way down to my butt. LoL In my pic. I have a rinse only. I have never committed to the permanent dye and it's looking like I'm soooooooo glad that I never have. No thanks to permanant dye. ✋🚫👎☝
So what’s a good dye brand to use 👀 I want to dye my locs black ?
Thank you for the vid and your experience
Hey! Do you think there’s a difference between coloring and dying? I was told that coloring just coats the color on top of the Loc without penetrating it. Could that be healthier?
I think the difference between both is if you bleach or not bleaching is for sure very damaging
Great video, sir. Thanks for speaking on this subject. I think there are still a lot of people who don't understand how damaging bleaching your locs really is, especially when they see famous people doing it and feel the need to mimic. They only see how dope it looks right then and there. This video is fire because you're able to speak on this from personal experience, something that I can't do. So thanks for sharing!
Come back bro
SebAtreyu- Hope all is well! Peace and blessings!✨🙏🏽
Yes it is, thank you. I hope you're well too, Deloris :)
@@EscoStyle Hahaha...Thanks bro! It's not quite time yet :)
SebAtreyu Glad to see you on here bro! Hope you’re doing well! Please return soon🤗
I’m super excited starting my locs this weekend I can’t decide if ima dye it before I start or just let my hair be it’s so confusing great info
Hey I’ve been in my loc journey, I RECCOMEND THAT YOU DYE THEM IMMEDIATELY lol best time is to do it before because if you don’t then you’ll have to wait a while cause locs in their starter stage dying them is a lot more damaging since it changes the structure and your hair will probably unravel
Hello so I started my instant locs last Sunday I have really thick 4c hair so I decided to color them professionally next month before my birthday thank you so much.
Now that is a proper mane of dreads bro
Did your wash your dye out with neutralizing shampoo? And then condition afterwards?
I dyed my hair but I only bleached it once. Am I still putting damage on my locs? How to recover?
Another great video bro! Congratulations on making 10,000 subscribers👍🏾! I know you will accomplish more for sure!! My question for you is what you do outside of RUclips aka who is Clayton? If that’s your real name😂 Just kidding bro! Hope all is well #Keepitlocd #Respect
What about dying them jet black?
He’s not lying I’m 14 years in and I didn’t ends coming off until years later
So what if I wanna just do the tips and not the follicles
So did the bleach go away or you dyed it back black?
Wow you’re beautiful 😭
Use henna, it's a hair treatment and color in one. You can do it as many times as it takes for your hair to take color. I did mine 3 years ago, and never did it again, and my ends are still reddish-brown. I would never bleach, but it's best to layer henna, blonde will take to red if you want to progressively go lighter.
That’s not completely true. The lightness of the locs depends also on the volume you use.
Hey, to angle of camera does really help the videonto be more dynamic, but I would go for a more meaningful second angle. To avoid jumpcut tou need to be over 30 degree but you probably know that ! Jump cut can be actually interesting to !
Thank you bro, was thinking of dying my hair now I’m definitely not after watching your video
Same, if I had one loc wish it would be for them to all be the same length! I'd also wish for a more distinct middle part, but that's another story. I dyed my locs black twice about 4 years ago, and I can notice some effects and changes in my hair. The color has pretty much faded though. Lately, I've been wanting to dye my locs a dark shade of purple , but I'm not sure I want to put my hair through the dying process again.. or what would be the best way to do it
I made sure when I started my locs, I had a middle part and a slanted side part. Best choice I made.
Thank you, very helpful!
Also I would like to know what type of easy styles could I do
I have dark brown hair and colored my locs burgundy nothing happened this is my third and last time…. They are long now but I like to see the new growth difference. But to their own
I watched a lot of YT videos about locs and yours is definitely one of the very best, congrats on the 10 K, you'll probably get to 100K one day, keep up the good work bro. We depend on you to educate us lol 😂.
1117AJ 😂
I'm late but thanks for the video. I only wanna lighten a few of my ends and hair in the front since I keep bangs/layers anyway. Atleast that way if my hair breaks off later it's not the whole damn loc 🤣
What type of soft rubber band can I get so I can put my hair up because my hair is getting longer and I'm getting tired of wearing my hair down
Get this big thin head bands. No metal, they’re at dollar tree
Rapheal Hardwick they have wax ones I use
Where do you get your jewelry from man 💯
What your saying is true, my locs became thin and many broke off!! I recently dip the tip of my locs in peroxide which gives it a light brownish tone.🌺
How long did you leave them in the peroxide? Also how exactly did you do it?
Peace, I pour a nice amount of peroxide into a very small bowl and let the tip of my locs sit in the bowl for at least twenty minutes or so. Approximately, ten locs at a time which is time consuming , however worth it, it is best that you do this while your sitting in your tub bathing, Whereas, you can let the peroxide drip from your locs into the tub then you can squeeze and rinse then let the tips air dry. I usually keep the peroxide on the tips until my next hair wash that works best for me, the color is a pretty bright auburn.
@@TAHSIYN thanks I'm going to try this. I'm glad I watched this video before I dyed my locd😝
Ro Love you are very welcome 🌸
Natures Blessing hair pomade...have you ever used it? If yes Pls share a review
CarleeLocs I love that stuff! I would not use it to “retwist” locks as I have a friend who did it years ago and it caused her hair to have a green tint (after using it as locking gel for years). Using it as a pomade is GREAT however because it is petroleum free and gives your hair a nice, lasting, healthy shine.
@@cosmiclogic78 thank you for sharing that!
I noticed when i bleached my hair it looked less healthy and dry, I'd like to say I'd never bleach it again but idk what'll happen but as for right now, i don't wanna bleach them ever again 😔
I refrained from coloring my Locs for the longest bc I felt like it would take away its meaning and strength ... but now I want to color them😕
Try the hair color wax by "Mofajang" I've tried 3 different colors over time. They wash out of the locs easily no residue left in my locs❤
Me 2
Make the colors have meaning 💯
Retwisting your hair, damages the follicles as well. It weakens the actual hair shaft and eventually causes premature balding.
Retwisting tight*
@@laurenlocd3180 tight + too often
So should u do your hair before u die it or no
How many locs do you have?
What about black dye, does anyone have any suggestions?
You just helped me decide to let this gray come through.
Yes, mee too. I was gonna do a rinse out .but, i.m gonna leave the grey and embrace it.
Thank you for saying cause I want loc my hair but I color my hair alot but I want stop and I see color but I don't want color my hair
I've bleached mine five years ago. Never again
I've been using hair color waxes on my locs and I love the versatility, wished I never bleached in the past but my locs are still healthy & thick!!
What is hair color wax? Is it a safe alternative?
I use that too but I feel it’s too sticky on my hair and my mom thinks it’s leaving residue in my hair.
But with wax doesn't it get on hands and lea e residue or fill sticky? If not which brand do you use?
@@kaybee2411 I used the Mofajang brand, once it dries completely it didn’t transfer on my hands much, but the the most I saw it transferred was on my uniform shirt collar, where it constantly rubs the nape of the neck…. You’ll need a good wash when you’re ready to remove it from your hair, I did detox to get it all out.
I want to dye some of my dreads not all but Idk now 🥺
Boy… I ain’t heard nothing you said. You’re handsome LOL 😂 naw but fr though I’m only 5 months and was about to dye mine, but y’all scaring me 🥲
Does black have the same effect
What if you dye the tips once
So how do you keep your locks look naturally dark?
It’s just naturally like that depending on your hair as long as u take care of it your true color will show
Bought a bottle of developer ready to pull the trigger until I saw you #hairgoals
Love your locs 😍.. have you ever thought about counting them?
Ikr it's been 2 weeks for me and I haven't yet
After uColor your hair you need to do a protein treatment. Then use Moisturizing conditioner
I’m convinced. My locs aren’t as strong as when I was younger.
what about semi permanents?🤔
My roots gets gray so fast and I dye them a golden brown I’ve noticed that Isn’t good for the locs neither.
I had my locs for 2 years before I dyed them
The wild thing about this is i already fucked up my own ends cutting it randomly and thats WHY i said screw it let's do a dye 🤣 I've had mine 15yrs
I love your bun ❤️
You keep saying follicle but do you mean hair strand? Follicles come from the scalp
Very informative
I’m 3years too late and I bleached and dyed my hair before and after I got locs👁👄👁
I read description boxes
Did you ever experience a spurt where you felt your hair growth really took off? If so at what year?
Are you married?
Do you have a goal length?
BTW your locs look super good...I love the different lengths, that's what makes them so unique! And lastly you have SUCH A NICE SMILE!!!
CarleeLocs- These are good questions!✨
Lol blah blah blah are you married blah blah blah blah blah
