Here’s how I colored my hair!! Well got my hair colored lol by my friend Na’imah ( / krystl4orm )
We let the dye sit on the locs for 45 minutes on the ends and 30 minutes at the top!

It’s so funny that you posted this video because I literally tried this same method using hiColor and developer (don’t remember the strength) a couple of years ago and the colour didn’t really take. You could only see the colour in certain lighting lol 😂 I love your results, came out beautiful 🤗 I think I might try again but in a few years or so. I’ve had the urge to cut my hair off and start from scratch even though I whole heartedly love my locs (I’ve been locked for around 4 years). I’ve had long hair since I was a baby and I’d like to try something new, out of my normal element. Anyways, I’m sorry for the long ass message. Not what I intended. omg i can't believe how well the color took without bleach !!! it's taking everything in me not to run to the hair store and get me some 😩 also question: did the color stain your bathtub/shower ? and did the color penetrate inside the loc, or was it just kinda the outside (if that makes sense) ?
If you can wash ya hair (after you applied) in the kitchen sink it will not stain it if you are nervous.
there’s a lightning agent in it, that’s why you need the developer to activate it. i’ve used it before and it didn’t stain my bathtub. you just have to clean it once you’re done ☺️
Sammmmme!!!! LOL did you go??? No ma'am it didn't stain but I'd still move quickly on rinsing everything out!! From what I can tell the lighter ones are where the color penetrated the locs (it makes total sense) 🥰

The white liquid is a form of bleaching/lightening agent..
Loved this video quick and simple. Do u need the highlits to lighten the hair. Is that a key ingredient n does it have to b copper if u using diff colors?

Your hair looks great!! I’m seeing this 2 years later. Did your hair stay soft? I’m contemplating coloring my locs, but I damaged them with bleach last time, and I’m wondering if the developer-only process kept your locs undamaged and soft?

I dye without bleach as well
My hair is very spongey so I use alot of the in my hair as well
My hair also pulls red naturally so I tend to stick to the red colours when I dye my hair

I don't dye my hair too often going forward I only plan on doing it every two years in the late fall early winter since I did it Dec of last year, the next time I'll dye it will be Nov/Dec 2022

If there isn’t any bleach in it you can start from the roots. Color just deposits on top. Bleach changes the bonds of your hair.

It’s only sold at Sally’s and when using this use equal parts of developer to tube. Example: 2oz to 2oz

The ends are actually more porous and take color faster. You should start at the middle, then do the roots and ends.

@@mackdaddyjaz so I colored my hair with just the hi color (copper) and 30 developer and honestly I love it lol after watching a few other videos I notice that the Cajun spice has more brown in it than orange and I was really going for fiery ginger look
How long u let it sit after adding the Cajun spice before washing? And did u wash it with shampoo and conditioner ?

You went from jet black to ginger... was your hair dyed jet black or is that your natural color? I had my stylist do a skunk patch on my locs, but she didn't get the roots nor did she get all of the section that I wanted dyed, so I want to go back and do it myself, but I'm scared that the colors will be off. I dyed it jet black prior to the brown skunk patch.. I'm also wondering if I will need to bleach, or can i skip that part?
That's my natural color! Ahhh gotcha it may need to sit longer to truly lift the color. I would ask a colorist tho to make sure!

@@thequalityname i’m sure i don’t moisturise as much as i should, i do so maybe like once a week realistically but when i’m super conscious of it i do moisturise it 2 or 3 times a week. i use vitamin e oil mainly but sometimes use shea butter, argan or castor oil and water in a spray bottle

Definitely be sure to intensify your moisture routine but otherwise you’ll be fine! I was scared too 👀 but at the end of the day it’s hair and if you wanna change it up give yourself permission to do so 🥰

My question is.. does the number on the developer matter? I wanted to get the 30
typically the higher the number the stronger it is! hicolor typically says use 30/40 developer but i would recommend not going above 30 as 40 is more likely to damage/melt your hair! And if you have loose hair (not in locs) I would recommend only using 20 developer as a lot of people say 30+ developer can damage your natural curl pattern (but that’s less important is you have locs)

my sister and i are coloring our hair this summer. i'm loc'd, she's not. did you condition afterwards, or just stick to your usual regimen of castille, free the roots, and castor oil?
because i don't condition now, and don't really want to, since the jbco keeps it just as moisturized as it was when i was a loose natural.
I stuck to my routine! but I would suggest conditioning and I would also look at As Told By Brittany's page she has some great colored locs advice!
