Love the enthusiasm! Thanks for a great review - I bought one today!
Thank you so much!!! Congratulations! You got a great lens
Spotted our favorite guy at 2:06! Brilliant review as always, keep them coming, Robbie!
Thanks! Will do!
Great lens review! You provided a comprehensive overview of its features and performance. Thanks for sharing! Hope they make a 50!
That’ll be the ultimate combo for the 28mm..
They announced a 50. It's collapsible, though. Personal I'm not into them, but it looks great.
@SourPlanet that’s great news, but I have a 50 f1.2 in my hands that might blow all the other fast 50s away… video coming soon..
Nice review ❤
Thank you
curious for their 35mm
I’ll see if i can get my hands on 1..

I can vouch for this review. It's really hard to resist the temptation to buy and try this Simera 28mm lens from Thypoch. Thanks to a very great customer service from Astrid at DOSS, within less than 1 hour after the transaction, the lens is in my hand. Not good for people with G.A.S. (Gear Acquisition Syndrome). I'll try to write several first impressions, but please excuse my english as I'm not as good as Robbie at speaking or writing in english 😄
Build Quality:
Overall, it's quite good, and the details, in my humble opinion, look better than several Voigtlander lenses that I've seen. The aperture ring is better than my expectation; I like a little resistance, not as loose as Leica lenses. But the focusing ring, for me, is not as smooth/refined as Leica lenses. The lens hood has a nice click when locked, but I wish the locking mechanism were stronger.
Focusing Ring:
I don't have any problems with the infinity focus lock. Turns out I like it. I also really like the subtle resistance at 0.7m, as a guide for me to switch to LV/EVF if I want to focus closer. We don't get this feature on the Voigtlander Nokton 28mm f/1.5. However, the focus throw between 0.7m and 0.4m is very very short, so it will need some time getting used to.
If you really don't like it, you can actually remove the locking mechanism without damaging the lens. Find the tutorial at Thypoch Lenses Users Group in Facebook.
Picture Quality:
At this price point, I don't have any complaints. It is actually comparable to the USD7,800 Summilux-M 28mm f/1.4 and even better in terms of high contrast chromatic aberration. Disclaimer: I'm just a hobbyist and not a professional photographer, so please take it with a grain of salt.
Cheers,

What you said is basically what I’ve experienced after using it for a month. Hope you enjoy your new lens dude.. I really hope thypoch releases a simera 50mm soon.. that would be a perfect pairing for our 28mm
@@robbiesumantri thanks! I assume they will release the 50mm soon, but not a fast lens, might be a homage to the classic collapsible design. We’ll see..
@@atmaka I really hope they release both. We know we want a good 50 to pair with the 28
