@@SpinningTurtle66 I think he was talking about the freeze mechanic. Honestly the tales have some of the best content in the game imo, especially that one where you fight 5 swordsmen in different areas, really liked that part more than anything.

My first playthrough the story was so good I just sped through it now that I know what the story is going to be like I’m now taking my time. Sebastian Tirado fair enough, I felt that certain parts of the story certainly lacked depth. But I liked it as a whole. The ending was my favorite part. It has so much depth at least for me
The kill ending is way more powerful, with some absolutely beautiful acting. I suppose you are right when you say that the spare ending is more in line with Jin's character, and I agree with you that Lord Shimura was an extremely well written character, but in the end, although he may have been kind, he was just like all the war generals and lieutenants we have today. He was going to send all of his men to die a painful death just because he believed that it was more honourable. Not only this, but after he was spared after losing a duel, the Shogun would've made him commit seppuku. Both endings are absolutely brilliant, and I respect your opinion. I loved watching your play-through, and I hope you liked this game as much as I do.
i don’t think he will commit seppuku bcuz jin told yuna that he won’t come back after them and still the game says the killing him is a good end bcuz u get the white color for the ghost armor and red if u spare him just like infamous second son red is a bad end and white is a good end
I believe the kill ending is the best because instead of dying by his own hand, he dies by the hand of his son and still sees he has honor inside of him
I cried when I completed the game. I also chose to spare him for the exact reason. There is so much emotion in that scene, all of everything leading to it. Best game I played this year

Honor is an interesting concept. I'm afraid though that it only works when everybody subscribes to the idea. Just a few cheaters and betrayers and it all falls apart.
Copy pasted from a reply to a similar comment; Just because the game says you should use X stance in Y scenario doesn't mean X is actually going to be more effective. Pretty much any combat game ever that has a choice in play-style/gear/talents/etc. has one (or a few) choices that's blatantly OP and good in almost any scenario. He probably found a combo/play-style in water stance that was just super effective anywhere, or maybe he was just having fun.
This shit has never occurred to me in my play-through of this game. As soon as a mongol sees a dead body the entire mongol army appears to investigate.
@@heisenbergwhite1337 in his moist review he talked at length at how garbage the stealth was, when its possibly just his version of the game being buggy
I love how he says AI is brain dead at stealth during a section that literally gives you a straight path to the objective and without showing any of the times he got caught on stream.
a good counterargument for the kill ending not fitting Jin's character is that he, at least in the way i see him, isnt about being honroable or dishonorable, but about saving lives, wether the methods are honorable or not He takes whatever path allows him to save as many of his people's lives as possible, and those of his closest friends and allies He never wanted to hurt his uncle and destroy everything he gave him, but in his mind he had no choice as he had to sacrifice everything to save as many as possible He could've chosen to cling to his uncle's teachings and code in order to make him happy at the cost of many other lives (such as taka's) but still decided not to, in order to preserve other people's happiness which is why i see the kill ending as more fitting, the "honorable" and "dishonorable" way of things doesnt matter to him, he has no limits and will do whatever is necessary to ease or save the lives of those he loves even at the cost of his own personal happiness and that of his uncle, which he again, sacrificed to save as many as possible Shimura's world is black and white, honor or no honor, Jin's isn't had honor been the way to save as many as possible, he would've gladly remained faithful to his code the kill ending's like Jin's last way to appease his uncle, as he could never mend the bonds he broke forever the spare ending however just makes him so much more cold hearted and aloof, as if he had just walked away from killing a mongol knowing letting them live would've caused them more pain while simultaneously making a point about dishonor being the correct way, and doesnt fit his character at all in my opinion, since his "correct way," is whichever one saves and/or helps his people and loved ones the most, even if sacrifices are necessary
You're kind of going against yourself there, if his goal is to save as many people as possible why would he need to kill lord Shimura? I think it's just another instance of Jin not being true to himself if he fakes having honor which he clearly doesn't at that point so I see letting Shimura live as the more fitting end.
@@anitaremenarova6662 no no, its not him faking honor, but being merciful since by letting him live shimura would have most likely ended his own life (due to the customs/traditions of the era and society), the shogun would've most likely made him do it for having been spared after a duel or he would've most likely done it himself for having suffered such dishonor shimura even thanks and calls jin his son in the kill ending, as he's grateful Jin's not a monster and still has compassion left in him, even if he doesn't have (almost) any honor left Shimura knows Jin's already gone way past being redeemed for his dishonorable acts, but as Jin said to him at the beginning of the game, honor means to help those who cannot fight for themselves, then shimura adds the rest of the code that makes up his vision of honor, that is to serve their lord faithfully and respectfully (or something along those lines) so when choosing the kill ending, Shimura still sees that "honor" Shin had described before is still left in him, and hes not a complete monster i mean, looking at it from shimura's perspective, if Jin abandoned the part of the honor code about serving their lord faithfully wouldnt he also be capable of abandoning the rest? Also Shimura's lived his whole life by honor, its unfathomable to him to think that anyone who's dishonorable is redeemable that last duel is shimura's first time giving a coward a second chance, since he knows how the duel will end (notice the way he talks before the duel, particularly the part where Jin mentions starting a new family, could be interpreted as Shimura coming to terms with the fact that Jin will inevitably die, which i find unlikely, or that he himself will) i mean, would shimura ever invite someone who's done things like what jin has to a duel? (specifically the poison), personally i just think he would cut them down by striking first instead of inviting an honorless coward to a duel its pretty complicated since they're so well written
Personally I went for the kill ending, despite Jin abandoning the samurai way I feel he would have honoured his uncles wishes, despite everything that happened Shimura was the only family he had, and he would give him a warriors death befitting of a samurai

I still feel like if you love Shimura as a character you should grant him a warrior's death. In the context of his beliefs, sparing him is shunning him and the opposite of caring.
0:44 No actually. The original samurai were mounted archers, which is why they have the o-sode pauldrons (the big square things on your arms) since they didn't carry shields (would be hard to draw a bow otherwise) And since this is the 13th Century (1274) bows would be extremely common for the samurai at this point seeing that they were still mounted warriors As well, Lord Shimura is a very romanticized version of Bushido. Every samurai followed a few common rules, but their terms of Bushido varied person to person as they were meant to serve their damiyo in whatever way they could
I like the spare ending. I think it's very fitting. Jin struggles with his Honor for the entire story, and in the end, there's no honor in killing family. Only pain. Jin has no honor. Not by the standards of samurai, at least. What he does have is compassion for the people of Tsushima and the willpower to protect them. That's far more important than honor.
Really surprised that Charlie got through the game without getting one extra resolve. Gotta give him props for that. I didn’t even think about doing not 100% everything.
I legit argued with some dude the other day saying that The Last of Us II story and gameplay was better then Ghost of Tsushima in both aspects let's just say that dude got aten by the comment section.
I feel like the story kinda falls apart the instant Jin gets his hands of poison. Like, it starts at as a question “are war crimes good?” Which could be intresting but then the game goes “Yes” without much of a struggle in Jins part.
Well to be fair, there was consequences to Jin's actions. He spent most of the game finding ways to beat the Mongols and when he comes up with poison the Mongols were like "Hey, that's actually a good idea" and tested Jin's own poison on innocents and were going to use it against the Mainland. I loved that (the Mongols adapting, NOT the innocents dying) because it showed that every action has a reaction and there are choices that can come back to bite us on the ass.

He never wanted to hurt his uncle and destroy everything he gave him, but in his mind he had no choice as he had to sacrifice everything to save as many as possible
He could've chosen to cling to his uncle's teachings and code in order to make him happy at the cost of many other lives (such as taka's) but still decided not to, in order to preserve other people's happiness

Shimura's world is black and white, honor or no honor, Jin's isn't
had honor been the way to save as many as possible, he would've gladly remained faithful to his code
the kill ending's like Jin's last way to appease his uncle, as he could never mend the bonds he broke forever
the spare ending however just makes him so much more cold hearted and aloof, as if he had just walked away from killing a mongol knowing letting them live would've caused them more pain while simultaneously making a point about dishonor being the correct way, and doesnt fit his character at all in my opinion, since his "correct way," is whichever one saves and/or helps his people and loved ones the most, even if sacrifices are necessary

This game deserves goty 😤
Great video Charlie keep up the great content
Does anyone know of any like samurai era games similar to Ghost of Tsushima?
way of samurai
I mean it's not based on proper samurai and has a lot of mythology in it but sekiro is amazing, difficult though
@@Notkaikie I was looking into sekiro actually, thanks man.
@@thebadguy9298 for sure, thanks dude. I'll look into it.
Nioh, it has samurai, ninjas, and a lot of japanese supernatural stuff from folklore
0:49 the Bow is actually the Samurai's main weapon, not the swords. They're merely sidearms.

Pokimane sword and shield
No
So we're slaying thots in that dlc
Really surprised that Charlie got through the game without getting one extra resolve. Gotta give him props for that. I didn’t even think about doing not 100% everything.
Why does Jin’s head piece look like Cat Ears
I think it’s meant to make you look like either a dragon or tiger the large helmets are meant to inspire fear
@@burntgrahamcracker2866 yes, that particular kabuto is meant to resemble a tiger.
Gotta say this is gonna be the game I remember for 2020

Im pretty sure the shogun would go like:
"Hah! Nice one"
Once he heard about the ghost's doings in Tsushima.
I legit argued with some dude the other day saying that The Last of Us II story and gameplay was better then Ghost of Tsushima in both aspects let's just say that dude got aten by the comment section.
Gameplay-wise it's a fair debate, TLOU2 is super polished in that aspect. They just really screwed up the execution of the story.
The story is heavily argued about, but I say for sure TLOU2 has better gameplay.
I like how Charlie says stealth is dishonorable and then uses ghost stance AND dance of wrath in a duel
I feel like the story kinda falls apart the instant Jin gets his hands of poison. Like, it starts at as a question “are war crimes good?” Which could be intresting but then the game goes “Yes” without much of a struggle in Jins part.
Like, of all of Sucker Punches games to have a morality system, this one should have been it
Well to be fair, there was consequences to Jin's actions. He spent most of the game finding ways to beat the Mongols and when he comes up with poison the Mongols were like "Hey, that's actually a good idea" and tested Jin's own poison on innocents and were going to use it against the Mainland.
I loved that (the Mongols adapting, NOT the innocents dying) because it showed that every action has a reaction and there are choices that can come back to bite us on the ass.
doctor henry could have fixed all that, but his career quickly fell into shambles after episode 3
I guess everybody is first so I’ll be second
I call 69th
ahhahahaha
Not all heroes are first
I'm second, get your lame azz in the back.
I'm a dumbass who just got the game today and I decided on clicking on this video.
Spoiler alert:
a buff girl master of golfing kills Jin
Very beautiful game. Probs the best this year.
In Leafys new vid he said he didn’t like you because he didn’t know who you are
It's actually disgusting that you admit to watching Leafy. *proceeds to vomit on PC*
Imagine watching leafy in 2020
2016 called, they want their youtuber back.
There’s an old podcast episode where apparently leafy and colossal invited him into a Skype call
Who the heck is Leafy? Isn't he some child with an embarrassing chin?
