    00:00 Hello Everyone!
Norway Chess is a 10-player round-robin featuring Top 5 stars Magnus Carlsen, Alireza Firouzja and Hikaru Nakamura taking place in Stavanger, Norway from 30 May to 9 June. Each of the 9 rounds consists of a classical game where a win is worth 2 points and a loss 0. If the players draw they play an Armageddon game, where the winner earns 1.5 points and the loser 1 point. No draw offers are allowed before move 30.
The 3+2 blitz opener takes place on Monday 29th and will give the winners the chance to pick their pairing numbers for the main event. The classical time control is 2 hours for all moves, with a 10-second increment per move only after move 40. For Armageddon White (the same player who had White in the classical game) has 10 minutes to Black's 7, with a 1-second increment from move 41. Black wins if the game ends in a draw. A tie for 1st place will be decided by two 3+2 blitz games followed, if necessary, by a 5 vs. 4-minute Armageddon game. Official website: norwaychess.no

More titles + thumbnails like these please🙏🏿, were the outcome is not already spoiled. It's far more enjoyable to watch with anticipation.
Edit: Antonio, I'm not saying I mind even the positions on the thumbnail as I've explained to someone in the comments, that since those are usually on right side, you could just ignore it before watching if you prefer 0 spoilers. But those who wanted to analyse could do so too, win win. So there was always a balance in those titles+thumbnails that satisfied both sides. But that balance has now tilted to one side in the past few videos, and the 0 spoilers gang have no sanctuary anymore.

Agadmator, in the list of those who are contributors to your channel today, I see the name Davit Gasparyan. This is a VERY significant name, because it is indeed KASPAROV. I doubt that it is the world champion of a few years back, but I can tell you something about that name.
Gary was growing up in Baku (on the shores of the Caspian Sea) and he had Armenian parents on his mother's side. This gave him the surname Kasparian. Gary took the Russian form of this surname, so Kasparian became Kasparov.
I read this from the first few pages of the book "Gary Kasparov's Fighting Chess", written by Garry Kasparov, Jon Speelman and Bob Wade.

English is an extremely easy language...It's basically how uneducated idiots tried to speak French. Many English words are still written in a way more in line with a French pronounciation. It's literally as if you gave an English hillbilly a book in French and told him to read it. Of course, there's the Latin influence, German, etc. as well.

Minor point. It was a sac of the queen for 2 minor pieces not a rook and minor. It was a great idea nonetheless. Much less common sac than a rook and minor.
When Gukesh took the b5 pawn he had to have planned the exchange sac as the rook is trapped. Nd7 by magnus sets up c6 wining the rook. Gukesh might have had this in mind when he played a4. The depth of calculation and positional evalutation of these guys is incredible

At 5:07 in the video, after White's e5 in the game, it seems like Magnus could have simplified with Rxd6, a sacrifice exchangeof his own. He would have gotten a pawn and knight for the rook and the remaining passed pawn would have been too weak to promote. Playing for a draw, was not his plan, though.

Trading (or exchanging) a Queen for a Rook + Knight + pawn and also having a promising pawn structure is hardly a "Queen sacrifice". But yet, they keep calling it that, no matter WHAT the objective situation dictates! The same applies to exchanging a Queen for two Rooks, etc. Everything hinges on the nature of the position, irrespective of whether or not you've given up your Queen in exchange for something else. Gukesh obviously had a winning endgame, but he unfortunately was unable to convert it into a win. It can happen to anyone.

The reason for Gukesh missing the mate is because he is not a natural aggressive player like Tal or Fisher but a positional one. Then when he is forced to play like Tal it’s a very tough ask. On the contrary had this been Tal instead of Gukesh than Magnus would have surely been convincingly crushed 😀
