  • Looking for the ultimate Malaysian breakfast experience in Kuala Lumpur? Look no further! Join us on a mouth watering journey as we visit Ho Kow Kopitiam, an old hidden gem serving traditional Hainanese food brought to Malaysia a long time ago and fused with local culture to create something new and innovative. This quirky and beautiful eatery is located on Lorong Panggung in Chinatown Kuala Lumpur and has been open since 1956.
    From traditional Nasi Lemak and authentic butter Kaya Toast to lesser known gems such as Curry Chee Cheong Fun and the secret Hainan coffee recipe, this traditional Hainanese and Malaysian breakfast spot has got to be one of the best in Kuala Lumpur. With people queueing out the door to try and get a taste of their unique and authentic food, we're not surprised why it's so popular with both local Malaysians and international tourists.

    I let out a whoop of victory when Olivia sampled the toast with the egg and liked it! That's my ultimate favorite breakfast in the whole world, and it's simple enough to make at home. You can also use Japanese Shoyu (soy sauce) too, tastes just as amazing

    Just Incase you don’t know, Malaysia’s do not plant for arabica coffee, Malaysia coffee is robusta or Liberica , the taste will be very different from arabica, and we use different roasting method and brewing method for our own coffee, so you will taste differently then what you thought about coffee.

    4:01 Those are frozen chunks of butter, so they are not spread over like in the UK.
    Classic Malaysian breakfast : Chunks or slabs of ice cold butter and generous spread of home made kaya jam sandwiched between thick (three-quarter inch is about right) white bread slices toasted over charcoal until crusty on the outside but still soft inside. Often accompanied by half-boiled eggs (UK : soft boiled or dippy eggs).

    For soft boiled eggs, you need to crack a line right in the center of the egg and use your finger to open/split it up into 2 with the small plate beneath to capture the falling eggs :)

    The soft eggs and the kaya toast tradition in Malaysia was actually from the time of the British colonial...its a mixed of British and local culture...during the colonial times most Brits in Malaysia would eat that soft eggs with their toast.

    • @muhd7144
      @muhd7144 Год назад

      Quite similar, though not exactly, to British dippy egg with soldiers. Dippy egg is soft boiled egg (here in Malaysia called half boiled egg). Soldiers are long strips of bread toast.
      Dippy egg is placed in an egg cup. Topmost part of the egg shell is cracked open and the soldiers dipped into the open dippy egg. Favourite breakfast for kids.

    7:16 You break soft boiled egg (Malaysia: half boiled egg) at the top because in the UK it's usually placed in an egg cup. In Malaysia they just crack it open by tapping middle of the egg with a spoon and pour it all out in a saucer.
