  • In this video, I share my impressions on replaying three incredible games: Metro Exodus, Cyberpunk 2077, and Elden Ring. As I've delved back into these titles, I've discovered that a second playthrough offers a unique and enriching experience. Each game has its own way of revealing new layers and details upon revisiting. Some games are designed with replayability in mind, while others might shine brightest on the first run. Join me as I explore why replaying these games is worth your time and how they've each offered me something different the second time around. #gaming #gamingvideos

I’d love to replay more games. As a kid when I played games, we only had a handful so I got VERY familiar with those select few games. Now as an adult, I’ve got access to seemingly everything so I wanna experience something new instead of replaying a game again.

Metro Exodus is such a gem. The whole franchise is!
A 2nd playthrough(when Phantom Liberty dropped) was absolutely amazing. The 1st playthrough was great of me, but after all updates and DLC it is in-fact miles better.
In general I rarely play a game a 2nd time. CP2077 and Mass Effect Trilogy are the 2 I have.

Games that I've enjoyed a LOT more on additional playthroughs have been the rebooted Wolfenstein games. Specifically, The New Order, The Old Blood, and The New Colossus. The games have a great combination of sick FPS action gameplay with very likeable characters, witty dialogue, and a fun sense of adventure. A lot of major AAA games these days focus on this insane deep emotional story that doesn't tend to add much replayability at all. They're meant for being one and dones.

Thankfully, the state of modern gaming is making me just stick to a few games and replaying them. There was a period when I always just wanted something new and wasn't going back to old games too often, but now that's pretty much all I do, just replaying my old favorites and remembering why I was in love with them and with gaming in general. After not playing some of them for more than a decade, they can feel both nostalgic and fresh at the same time.

I hated the witcher 3 on a first playthrough, I could not get engaged at all, thought it was overhyped garbage. On a second playthrough I adored it, played the whole thing, nearly to %100. Had the same experience with DS3. I generally give a game atleast 2 attempts to truly tell if it's something I will enjoy or not. Metro is one of my favourite series to replay personally. The following playthroughs, were you can just soak in the moments and environments, is just so cathartic to me.
Also, that dual watchdog fight can rot in the worst part of hell lol

Agree with everything, especially the dual watchdog fights. That whole thing is horrible, not least of all the fact that those are cats but they're called watchdogs.
I think the only worse fight is the dual Crucible knight fight. It's just evil.

The only games I replay are the ones that leave me with that sad feeling when I finish them because I don't want to leave the characters or the story to end. Not many games give me this feeling but afew of them are BG3, Witcher 3, RDR2, Cyberpunk and Mass Effect.

Great video. So many games are so incredibly complex, that it takes almost the whole game to really understand all the mechanics and the complex interactions. Some games dont even bother explaining core mechanics as " thats too much handholding". On the second playthrough its such a better experience. I hated Starfield on my first playthrough, but recently watched a few videos that explained how the stealth mechanics have changed and what you need to do,,,and i found on my 2nd playthrough it was enjoyable.

I never paid attention to the marketing for CP2077 so, while I was really looking forward to the game, I didn't have those insane levels of expectation going in. I am so glad that's the case. I loved the game at launch, and after my second full playthrough after Phantom Liberty, it was an entirely new experience and loved it even more. Fantastic game.

The fact that Elden Ring feels less replayable than other Souls games to me is the reason I ended up not liking it as much as I thought I would. Don't get me wrong, the first playthrough of ER is immaculate but to me a HUGE part of the appeal of Souls games is to replay them knowing what your build will be and going for the weapons you want earlier than normal. Elden Ring's biggest achievement, it's open world, is also it's biggest gimmick on subsequent playthroughs, unfortunately. Once you know where you need to go and where the items you want are, the open world ends up becoming an annoyance more than a cool feature the same goes for the dungeons with items you need to upgrade weapons. The game begs for an official randomizer mode but From is allergic to making good NG+ modes.
I also believe that Cyberpunk would benefit greatly from a "Premium Adventure" mode like the Yakuza games have, which is pretty much a game mode with all the side content but without the main quest in it. It's pretty much a sandbox experience.

    • @Vali-__-
      @Vali-__- 9 дней назад

Elden Ring has lots of replayability like other Souls games. Saying elden rings open world because a less cool gimmick doesn't make sense. After you beat any souls game just like elden ring you know where to soul farm, where to grind for items, or go for items, and etc. I'm sorry, the same logic can be applied to any other game like skyrim, cyberpunk, and any other rpg. This comment just doesn't make sense.

I may have to revisit the Metro series. I tried it years ago and it didnt really grab me, but its still sitting in my Steam library.
A good story driven FPS with a solid creep factor can be awesome.

    It's tremendous.

for the first two, particularly if you're more used to modern titles, I would recommend doing some of the modifications on the wiki. Like FOV extending (don't go past 70, it will break some cutscenes) and graphical/performance fixes. They are games that are very much story first, with the second game (last light) bringing much better gunplay. Also, while this isn't for everyone, try playing on survival difficulty. It makes the resource management feel much more immersive, and the gunplay feel way less bullet-spongey. Exodus is pretty great, but lost some of the vibe of the original for me. Still a gorgeous game with fun gunplay though.

About your take on rewatching movies, i have to say I disagree. I remember watching The Revenant when i was about 18 years old. I just loved the theme and the action of the movie but i couldn't really relate to the characters that much. Then I rewatched it when i was about 24 years old. Between those years I learned a lot about life which gave a hole other perspective on the story and characters. The same can be said about games like GTA IV.
Great content btw, Keep it up.

Nagakiba with Double slash... Looks familiar 😆
I can say that the second playthrough for me is most of the time the better experience, on almost any game. I'm more mechanic focused and enjoy execution, much more than I enjoy the novelty of initial "discovery". Nailing the execution when I know what to do generally, but still need to do it "perfectly", is something I find more enjoyable than bumbling my way through an open world or a level, often wondering if I'm in the right place. But that's just me and like I said, not in 100% of the games.
I consistently replay games, re-watch movies and re-read books because my mood, my mindset, the period where I am in life, my thoughts at that time... It all contributes to how I perceive details and how I interpret something. And it's never the exact same experience. Also sometimes you need to play or watch or read something multiple times to discover the intricacies hidden deeper than you can't pick up the first time. I would equate it to reading a book while you're still learning a new language versus reading that same book once you're fluent in the language.
Sometimes I will replay a game that I know like the back of my hand just to inhabit that world again for a while and be immersed. It's like revisiting the town where you grew up or lived in college or something. Case and point, Black Mesa. I replay that game at least once a year. Sometimes the novelty is trumped by familiarity. Familiarity offers comfort and security for iteration.
As for STALKER Anomaly... I have around 500 hours in GAMMA (which is just uber-modded Anomaly) and I'm not even close to finishing the first story out of the 4-5 that exist in that game. I played all the stories in my initial Anomaly playthrough, that also took around 200 hours, but it's stil fun to just go out and do random NPC quests and try to survive moving from one area of the zone to another. You can never predict what will happen to you in that game or who you'll meet or fight and there is no guarantee that you will survive.
That game is just... It's hard for me to properly explain how I feel about it. It's like a multiplayer open world game, but there are no other people, just NPC-s. But it's so dynamic.
