Mmmm... I think that while the shape of the tower is cool, there's too many stripes for me. In my case, I would just leave the 3 stripes on the top and make the rest sandstone. Maybe you could add some orange on the corners. Anyway, that's just my opinion, everything else is beautiful as always
@@volehunter maybe, in my opinion, there are just too many stripes and that makes it look a bit weird. Now that you mentioned it, maybe the base could be in a 3 blocks tall grey stripe and then have the 3 stripes on top and I would like some orange accents, but I saw another comment saying that blue could also look great and I gotta agree
I agree, the stripes are too much as well as the shape just being weird. It's similar to a pawn or pepper grinder. The whole thing kinda reminds me of something from 2012.
Since New Papyrus has such a large presence in shipping, you should add a lighthouse outside of the harbor, that way if ships arrive at night they don't run aground.
For the tower/ minaret, seeing as it takes some Islamic and Spanish inspiration, maybe use some blue to help stand out as a contrast instead of gray stripes? Take a look at Golestan Palace or Shah Mosque in Tehran for example (and don't forget the moors controlled Hispania for 700 years, so using more middle eastern styles will blend nicely with the spanish inspiration too). EDIT: As a second thought, have you considered a bazaar for New Papyrus?
@@NoahStavish Exactly. For example Seville, Cordoba and Granada are a great inspiration for both Islamic and Spanish architecture. It's also great because you can see the two of them together and see how they contrast with eachother
The tower is definitely a great shape, I'd love to see more around, but also think that maybe each tower/minaret should have it's own pattern to it, like thicker stripes or different colors. For Variety, but also if each new one is Unique™ any oddity in how colorful they are slowly becomes a matter of the builder's personality or artistic expression, and it makes each new a tower it's own landmark
I don't think fwhip likes to AFK for long periods but those are the only other ways... Hopefully Mojang adds a new mechanic to farm pads quicker some time in the future 🤞
22:26 you could use lapis or another blue colour to make it more ”deserty” tuff works, but it’s the greyscale that makes it stick out, both good and bad.
For the zebra tower, maybe change the colour on the second half of the building (the bit hidden by the other buildings from far away). Make it a solid colour with textures OR add more variation of colours
yo fwhip if you'd like to add some *realism* to this area, you can add some banners over the windows to act as window shades. you definitely got the open concept that houses have in hot, arid climates, but a very common way to increase airflow but block sunlight is to have open windows with fabric to stop the sun. i also think including some blinds in the city, especially on the first floor windows, would work well. i assume residents would like some privacy from the passer-bys, and it can hide some unfinished interiors 😮 also yeah the tower stripes do look a bit silly
Up close, maybe suggest a little bit of greenery to break it up? Glow lichen, maybe a small custom dead tree just to break up the pattern a bit up close!!
22:53 the tower looks sick af I think it’s just in the wrong place. It’s designed like a lighthouse but is just in the middle of a harbor/city instead of a dangerous point for ships to watch out for
I LOVE NEW PAPYRUS im half iranian so i got really excited by the saffron garden inclusion hehe, you probably know this but the flowers actually grow a really beautiful purple color! ☺️ the roots are perfect for the color of extracted saffron though!
Hey Fwip! 3 things: 1. Lilypads can be fished in an auto fish farm 2. The build looks great! So excited to see what else you do in this area 3. You said you wanted to have multiple districts. Early ancient Egyptian houses had doors on the roof (trapdoors) and an exterior staircase. Do you think it would fit in new papyrus? (Ancient Turks also had cool dome houses for natural cooling. Would be cool to build, but might be hard since of their shapes) -Evy
Safron is a spice harvested from. The center of a flower, so that could just be a fantasy spice with medical properties, and the ability to make dyes or smth.
for fun new projects you could add some random ruins along or near the paths you have to add some history to the world. Doesn't have to be a full episode maybe just a small section!
If you want to keep the stripes on the stripy tower, I'd suggest changing them to mudbrick. Currently the tuff contrasts a little too harshly with the sandstone. Mudbricks will still contrast with the sandstone but not be too overpowering. The mudbricks also fit the general block pallet of the city better
Hey Fwhip please build in east asian architecture style they look awesome and have their own charm . The Indian, Chinese, Japanese, and Southeast Asian architecture will look soo good . So please consider building in that style in the future.
the coverd walkways really remind me of Bologna in Italy, they are made for shade but when i was there there was a flood and they were also really nice to walk under while it was raining so i could still explore some of the city without getting drenched
22:47 I like the shape but I think there are too many stripes. Maybe have the stripes as an accent and not the whole thing otherwise it’s kinda giving lighthouse.
As an Arab who always wanted to build in some of our traditional styles in Minecraft but always failed; I find this video very informative, love the way you created the “mashrabia” (the window enclosed in a wooden box) always failed to recreate it in my builds.
I absolutely love all of the buildings that you have done so far! I'm not much of a builder but have been to many places like Madrid and Barcelona, which is where lots of your inspiration is from. Some tips are to include lots of parrots, especially the green ones, into many of the trees as they are abundant across coastal Spain. You are already on the right path with the fountains, but in many hot countries they are everywhere because they can help regulate air temperatures. Larger fountains are located in larger plaza-style areas with lots of foot traffic. The Villager idea is really cool and for the stone masons, a larger Gaudi style building with glazed terracotta as mosaics would fit in nicely. Love the series!
I think for the tower it reminds me a little too much of a classic lighthouse, whereas if you make it a little taller and end somewhat skinnier, it could be more like a minaret. Maybe you could even do some towers/structures inspired by Joel Smallishbeans in Empires season 1. I think that’d blend a smidge better. The rest of the city looks amazing though, maybe you have given me a way to finally be able to build buildings! (I’m horrible at ‘normal’ houses, they end up too blocky! So this might work 😂)
I love the idea to add a tower, but I don’t think it quite matches the aesthetic you’re going for. Try looking at middle eastern minarets or windcatchers for inspiration. Windcatchers actually help to keep buildings naturally cool!
I think? The stripes are too small? It gives it a Too Much vibe. Thicker stripes might work? Or a swirling effect up? Ultimately what ever sparks joy, though, I say go for. Could be palate
the polished tuff looks shockingly good with the sandstone, and I love the build style - I've been collecting references for a city with similar buildings, and I'm really impressed with how you brought it into minecraft! really adds to my inspiration. Re: The tower, I like the shape of it a lot. The Stripes are a Lot:tm: in those colors and so close together, but the stripes and various patterns on the towers can be varied, along with the heights of the towers etc.
The tower is really cool, especially the shape, I love the use of the walls and glass! The horizontal stripes slightly give lighthouse vibes though? My respectful suggestion would be to replace the horizontal stripes with 3 vertical stripes on each side of the tower, with each center stripe being slightly longer like the prongs of a trident. That might help draw the eye up the length of the tower to the top, as it's a little bit lighter in visual weight without a strong color contrast like the base of the tower has. Thank you for the video, and all the time and effort you put into your content.
I wouldn't say it's a fast farm, but you can get lily pads from fishing. I get a few through my auto fish farm(the compact one with the note block) after some minutes of afk-ing. They're part of the junk loot table, I think.
I think some increased fantasy elements to the world could be fun! I think my two favorite ideas are a fairy grove with World Tree saplings and a wizard tower, but some others: Dragon's cave, decorate it with full blocks of gold and gems, maybe do a Hobbit reference and make it Dwarven ruins? Ruins in general! More of that translucent purple "magic" effect you have on that one ruin and the World Tree (and maybe saplings? 👀) would be cool! Big face carved into a mountain or other giant statue parts, or stuff like Stonehenge but bigger More steampunk-y elements like the airship? Oh, and a while back you made a couple temples and iirc mentioned natives worship the World Tree? Maybe they have a cathedral with, you guessed it, a sapling! I'd just adore more Worldbuilding and lore lol
I love the new additions to New Papyrus! This building style is stunning ✨️ I would put a conduit on top of the middle statue in the fountain, I think it would look very cool! EXCITED for how the city is coming up!🤩
Fun fact for those who didn't know, conduit range extends based on the number of prismarine blocks around it, but only in the 5x5x5 cube around it. It's not as pretty, but for utility conduits it's great.
It’s so cool to see the difference in building style between Path and New Papyrus - they feel so uniquely cohesive to the regions you’re building and separate out the world in a cool way!
for the tower: make the first floor an all light sandstone pediment, and start the banding and tower a story up. that way street level looks nice, and the skyline looks nice and they don't have to match at all. a really good image of this is the Thurgood marshal courthouse in NYC.
Fwhip, maybe adding some kind of signifier for different storage rooms? A tree for wood, a grass park on top of dirt, flowers and leaves sprouting everywhere in foliage, excavator on top or near stone, etc. just some ideas to better understand how to navigate your world
yeahhh idk how i feel about about the tower, it's definitely funky, gives lighthouse vibes. i feel like it might be something that over time opinions can change so i don't think it should be removed yet
14:12 it would be really cool to see the art/images you use for inspiration while youre describing it so we can see the creative process all the way through! Loved the video❤
Honestly fWhip not only am I just blown away by how cool this world is, but just the fact that you can continuously keep grinding out amazing builds and vids constantly! Much love and appreciation
The building style you're using for New Papyrus is one of my favorite architectural aesthetics, and I am loving how everything is looking so far! Using walls to add depth to an otherwise flat surface is so cool too!
22:47 I love the tower! The shape is wonderful, The stripes are just very small and noisy, so It does take away from the shape a little lol Maybe 2 or 3 wide stripes instead of 1 wide?
Another thing you could use for those arches is an open fence gate? I like to use them in place of glass if I have a wall on either side, cause it pulls them both in while being a bit more individual and adding some shape itself
great video as always, fwhip! but i would recommend changing some of the rooftop gardens to be more overgrown and having some leafs or glowberries hanging down, similar to babylon!
For the Tuff-Sandstone tower, I think it would look better with a bit fewer Tuff lines. Making it more of a secondary color that breaks up the Sandstone, rather than competing with it. Maybe one line of Tuff for two lines of Sandstone? That simple long fountain in the courtyard fits the spot quite well. It feels like a place the neighborhood people would gather around doing regular daily tasks.
i like it, gives gondor calls for aid vibes, and it wasnt too uncommon for towns and cities to have signal fires for if and when they were attacked, it'd be cool if you built one in path as a sign that the two cities are in a mutual protection treaty
Anyone else excited but shocked to see fWhip having built a farm, a structure AND an interior all in the same video? Love the dedication to the sugarcane lol
The tower is a good shape. Would do just that bottom line of tuff, then maybe the top 2 or 3 have a different colour, like blue terracotta or something similar. A bit duller of a colour so it helps the surrounding builds a bit more
Love the videos! And coming back to the desert is always nice. I was thinking that the sound of the clicking dropper almost sounds like a hammer hitting a chisel. Since you’re in the desert and there’s designs that can customize sandstone; add in a sandstone chiseling station nearby, which would help immerse that sound as just a fellow shop’s busywork.
Your main city has the giant tree to make it stand out, New Papyrus needs something big nearby it. Perhaps a shiny pyramid? A large statue? Maybe a desert themed castle to loom over the city
I love how the tower looks from afar! I think that up close maybe making the bottom one solid color, or making the strips wider (at least at the base) migjt improve it some!
Hey Fwhip, Just wanted to say that I enjoy your videos. Your creativity to your buildings is phenomenal and very inspiring. If you're looking for suggestions/recommendations for a big project for your desert biome in the future, you should build a big Aladdin Egyptian like castle/or pyramids and for a small project you should build a giant statue of a type of animal(lion, camel, etc.) in the center of town. W videos❤❤❤
I'm in love with this new style, the colours and all the little walk through thingies❤ I do not like the striped tower, I like the top with the skyline so maybe keep the top but change the rest 😅❤😊
One really cool thing about your darker tones in your block pallets is that black and darker colors absorb heat better then lighter blocks. And its known to get very cold at night in the dessert. A very neat little detail that add functionality to aesthetics.
Fwhip mixing cobblestone and tuft together: This is for the saturation and blending of hues! Fwhip with literally the flattest textured blocks besides concrete: These might be too noisy :C
i love the addition to the skyline, but i think making the stripes bigger may help make it look less busy. you could even give it a forced perspective and make them bigger at the bottom and then smaller as they go up, but if you like it you should keep it. it’s your world and you have to be happy with it.
I think that you could make some type of under water kingdom so theres like a castle and maybe a village? It would be a big project for a couple videos. And this desert city is awesome for me.
I keep thinking that you should build a witch's hut over the blue orchid farm in the swamp. If you've ever played the Witcher 3, I keep imagining the sort of Crookback bog style, with all the sweets lining the paths (before it turns evil and creepy lol) But that's just my opinion
I don't really like the striped tower. I think it looks cool, but there are too many strips. Maybe doing a solid bass and then the strips could look amazing.
You know what Minecraft needs? A block that can soundproof redstone contraptions or just soundproof in general. They could make wool do more than just helping you sneak in Ancient Cities
i know u said u wanted it to look like madrid, which i really appreciate, with the difference between buildings and stuff but, as someone who's from madrid, i think this new city is closer to look more like sevilla or granda, at the south of spain, it really reminded me of that area, the style its pretty cool and i think u nailed it! u truly isnpire me be more 'bold' with my builds and get out of my comfort zone to use blocks and decorations im not used to, keep it up fwhip, its really impressive!
I know fWhip said Madrid, but I think he was referring to the Superblocks of Barcelona. Where there's a distinct grid served by roads accessible by cars, then in between the major grid is a 3x3 smaller block of buildings where the inside block is some sort of park or community space designated for pedestrians
@@seulseulgom I can see where you were coming from in your original comment tho. Definitely not quite Madrid. I was in Spain earlier this year and flew into Madrid then caught the train to Córdoba. I feel the architecture fWhip built was similar to the Mezquita-Catedral de Córdoba due to the Islamic architecture as it was originally built as a Mosque. I was only there for a day or so as I continued down south to Sevilla which was the main destination for my trip. I also see a lot of similarities in fWhips builds to the Real Alcázar de Sevilla which again has that Mudéjar architecture, sort of like an Islamic-Christian fusion. Spain is an incredibly beautiful country and has much more going for it than the typically touristy beach/party/resort destinations such as Málaga, Ibiza, Mallorca, etc.
Man I love the New Papyrus videos. There's just something unique about them. When it comes to the tower, maybe using other colorful blocks, like glazed terracotta here and there could break up this repetitive pattern? For my recomendations for the expansion of the city, maybe some spices/dyes disctrict could bring even more colour to the city.
maybe you could add a district inspired by Curaçao, having buildings in all the possible colours. either go full curaçao with both the colours and the shape of the house, but honestly combining the style of building you made in this episode with the very colourful pallet from curaçao should work wonderful as well. legend has it curaçao originally was comprised of mostly white buildings until a governor kept getting headaches from the sunlight reflecting from all the buildings, so he ordered that all houses had to be painted in vibrant colours.
I agree, in the distance it looks great, maybe just subtle cover it up with bushes, trees, small markets or short buildings idk just something to cover it a bit up close so you don’t see so much of the tower when your up close?
For a new project, you could take some inspiration from pompeii and utilise some of the swamp biomes stripped of mud. Just a big city of ruins and former houses, catastrophy and maybe include some parts where nature is reclaiming it. Otherwise, a jungletempel with some fancy magical redstone doors and loads of treasure
11:00 You can catch them when fishing or from the wandering trader, but I'm sure it's far more efficient to just go out to a swamp than to afk farm both of those. That's just my assumption however. Though, it is considered fishing junk loot, so you might be able to set up an easy afk fish farm if you really wanted to. Another update moment lore I just remembered: If you still decide to go out to a swamp to get more, you could always use a boat to ride by and instantly break any it touches.
It has potential! I would say maybe break up the top portion and the bottom with maybe some dark oak wood slabs, or a dark grey block of some sort. Maybe a different color, a more neutral beige, or red even for the very pinnacle. Who knows.
Hope you all enjoy the new episode building stuff in NEW PAPYRUS!! We're back in the desert for a new expansion to the city, whatcha think??
im excited :3

22:47 I love the tower! The shape is wonderful, The stripes are just very small and noisy, so It does take away from the shape a little lol
Maybe 2 or 3 wide stripes instead of 1 wide?
Another thing you could use for those arches is an open fence gate? I like to use them in place of glass if I have a wall on either side, cause it pulls them both in while being a bit more individual and adding some shape itself
I think we need some sort of snowy village somewhere or like a cold viking village or something like that would be cool
I really enjoyed your new video and I think you should try decorated pot as a trim for the top of your new papyrus!
You can fish up lily pads
Yes
I think at that point its easier to just find a swap lol
great video as always, fwhip! but i would recommend changing some of the rooftop gardens to be more overgrown and having some leafs or glowberries hanging down, similar to babylon!
great idea!
thanks mate
yea no probs. hows life goin
🤠
cheers mate
For the Tuff-Sandstone tower, I think it would look better with a bit fewer Tuff lines. Making it more of a secondary color that breaks up the Sandstone, rather than competing with it.
Maybe one line of Tuff for two lines of Sandstone?
That simple long fountain in the courtyard fits the spot quite well. It feels like a place the neighborhood people would gather around doing regular daily tasks.
Humble beginnings!
The tower looks cool, it could use less stripes maybe 3 or 4 stripes would be good.
i like it, gives gondor calls for aid vibes, and it wasnt too uncommon for towns and cities to have signal fires for if and when they were attacked, it'd be cool if you built one in path as a sign that the two cities are in a mutual protection treaty
Anyone else excited but shocked to see fWhip having built a farm, a structure AND an interior all in the same video? Love the dedication to the sugarcane lol
Don’t know what I’d do after work on Thursday without these videos lol
This episode has really got me hyped for more on New Papyrus. I'd like to see you build more city blocks and other stuff and continue to expand it.
Love the consistency to your uploads fwhip!
Hey Fwhip,
Just wanted to say that I enjoy your videos. W videos❤❤❤
I'm in love with this new style, the colours and all the little walk through thingies❤ I do not like the striped tower, I like the top with the skyline so maybe keep the top but change the rest 😅❤😊
the depth in the walls on the first building built was awesome to see come together
Maybe add more stripey buildings as long as they are surrounded by other buildings? They look cool but stand out to much on their own.
At first I was a bit skeptical about New Papayrus, but wow I love build style
MORE NEW PAPYRUS BUILDS PLEASE WE LOVE THEM
0:50
Love to see the big map of your amazing world, could you integrate these more often?
Love your world and your videos, keep up the good work!❤
i know u said u wanted it to look like madrid, which i really appreciate, with the difference between buildings and stuff but, as someone who's from madrid, i think this new city is closer to look more like sevilla or granda, at the south of spain, it really reminded me of that area, the style its pretty cool and i think u nailed it! u truly isnpire me be more 'bold' with my builds and get out of my comfort zone to use blocks and decorations im not used to, keep it up fwhip, its really impressive!
I know fWhip said Madrid, but I think he was referring to the Superblocks of Barcelona. Where there's a distinct grid served by roads accessible by cars, then in between the major grid is a 3x3 smaller block of buildings where the inside block is some sort of park or community space designated for pedestrians
oh I know what u referring to, I see i see, I was too focused on the buildings style
Spain is an incredibly beautiful country and has much more going for it than the typically touristy beach/party/resort destinations such as Málaga, Ibiza, Mallorca, etc.
fWhip, I have a request:
PLEASE CHEAT IF YOU DIE, we see your world for what it is and I don't want it to end EVER.
I have a better request: don’t die
He already explained why he isn't going to do this.
What’s the point of hardcore then??
@@XBenjooX Are you really watching cause it's hardcore? I am just worried that the world doesn't end. I wanna see his vision complete.
For the stripe tower, I feel like maybe doing thicker stripes, or alternating thick and thin stripes may be a way to make it less busy.
DIDNT EVEN WATCH THE VIDEO YET AND IM ALREADY HYPED
You should make a cyber punk city similar to your main base from legacy smp season 1!!!! love the videos
For whatever it's worth, I loved the stripe building!
maybe you could add a district inspired by Curaçao, having buildings in all the possible colours. either go full curaçao with both the colours and the shape of the house, but honestly combining the style of building you made in this episode with the very colourful pallet from curaçao should work wonderful as well. legend has it curaçao originally was comprised of mostly white buildings until a governor kept getting headaches from the sunlight reflecting from all the buildings, so he ordered that all houses had to be painted in vibrant colours.
Happy to see fwhip back in the dessert where he truly shines.
Who knows.
