People nowadays don't know how good they have it when it comes to crafting glowstone blocks - it took 9 dust to craft a single block in Alpha... and mining glowstone only dropped 1 dust!! SO frustrating
@Death to America gaming yeah censorship sucks. But most of the features that they added in general are cool. Like ancient cities or different kinds of wood
Builds in early minecraft versions look very very cozy. I think thats because of the simplicity of minecraft back then, you didny have many options to choose what you wanna build with, and the alpha lighting also does a ton of work to make it look nostalgic
its also about the graphically changed versions over time. like cacti looked simple but fitting rn it looks great too on latest versions but just very detailed old versions had simple meshes whilst the newer ones overhaul the old ones with detailed meshes
I feel like the extra legwork to build in older minecraft versions is what makes it so satisfying and rewarding to see to completion. I can get sucked into playing Beta or Alpha for so long despite how much less there is to do. You have a much more restricted palette of blocks and yet in some ways it's so freeing. Good vid.
yea i agree when it comes to content and adventure aswell theres a ton of really good mods on curseforge from back then that work still its like looking through old mod letsplay videos from years ago haha
What do u mean, are you saying the recent compositions incorporated into Minecraft aren’t of the same calibre? If anything the original soundtrack is too low quality for my tastes. Must have been recorded on an iPhone 4 🤮😂😂😂😅🥲🥲😂😂😂🤡
26:55 I couldn't agree more; I hope more RUclipsr's play the older versions of Minecraft and make it a new trend. I've spent 100 days in my own Alpha world and it's the most fun I've had playing in Minecraft in over a decade
Because nowadays, they use just the bottom of the hitbox to detect the ladder instead of either the top or bottom. You can sorta replicate this by using trapdoors instead of the empty space, although this is Java exclusive, and trapdoors are more expensive than ladders.
As much as I love Minecraft now, this was the best game ever. You really had to get creative with the 5 world slots and very, VERY few blocks, and yet it went famous because of how fun it was. Pros and cons, but I prefer alpha and beta over modern day craft. My earliest memories of mc are me climbing up my bunk bed with MCPE on my iPad and dying to a spider while cozied up in a lil' blankie. And, it's kinda weird that Minecraft now, while having things like terracotta and more types of stone, just doesn't feel as good or realistic as original mc. Minecraft has always taught me to follow my own objectives in life. There is no ender dragon of your life, but you can set your sights as high as they need to be. Meet new people with cool skins, make houses together, get rich. Anything and everything I just said can be done with less than 100 blocks and some free time. Again, Minecraft nowadays is still crazy fun, but It's somehow less realistic than old Minecraft, and holds much less nostalgia then me getting dogged on by a Yoda skin on Xbox 360.
I used to play Xbox 360 but now sometimes I like to play Xbox One with my brother and sometimes I just like to play Minecraft on the Nintendo switch alone sometimes me with my sister and brother
I played the old pocket edition. While it wasn’t the same as Alpha minecraft it had similarities to Alpha. It also had its own unique features that dealt with device storage limitations.
@@darth3911 pretty sure when pocket edition came out (wasn't called bedrock until much later like 2016 I think?) It was whatever version right before beds came out lol good ol wool and stone "beds" were so common
Sameee. I was so surprised with the nether core device thing (i don't even remember what they were called) I thought that was a fake thing like the aether, very much surprised when it actually worked
This video brought me a certain happiness and nostalgia, especially at the end with the theme song. Reminds me of the first time I played Minecraft on my computer in the 2010s and later on Xbox 360.
we're so used to do things in a hurry that when we play older versions, we discover that having a hurry to do things it's not as important as having fun. I hope that playing older versions and bringing that feeling that we had to the new generation of people who loves Minecraft becomes a trend.
My brother and I use to convince people we made the TU11 tutorial world. In retrospect, they probably believed us because we had an older version than anyone else because we didn’t have Xbox Live so we couldn’t update the game passed the version on the disc and everyone else had newer tutorial worlds.
24:45 I don’t remember what update it was, but it’s possible you were in the one where you took damage if the water was only a block deep. At some point the water had to be at least two blocks to avoid damage. (Depending on the height.) I don’t remember when that got changed.
There ARE actually sounds, as well as skins, in all of these versions! All you need is to use the betacraft proxy java argument when launching the game, or use the betacraft launcher. It fixes A LOT of problems that have arisen in the 13 years since these versions released. If you ever were interested in a part two, I'd be happy to talk and help make producing the series easier (and look better ;P). Thanks for the video! all this coming from an old school minecraft nerd with too much free time :D
This is actually an idea I’ve done for fun before. Starting with older versions and working up to get everything the old school way is fun. I like it for the nostalgia but I can see how a new player wouldn’t want to play this way
funny thing is that banners kinda capture what everyone praises in early minecraft, because you're very limited with your patterns, so it feels really satisfying to pull off a cool pattern.
holy the nostalgia of this video is crazy especially the music at the end (mc music) I remember when me and my dad were playing mc together and I found out how to go into creative and spawned like 1000 horses but it is so nostalgic

One memory I will never forget about old mc is that I cried over a creeper blowing up my lapis block 😭 I was very scared of mining because of mobs, so I could never get diamonds. I put a lapis block in my house, pretending it was a diamond block and put two stairs near it to serve as a table. I somehow allowed a creeper to get in my house, the house was in ruins and my special lapis block was gone 😅😭
