That is a very convincing mediæval-style drawing of a chili plant. I was trying to work out what other plant it could be that looked so like a chili but was from before the introduction of plants from the Americas for an embarrassingly long time before it clicked about the band.
I love listening to your music. I found your work while teaching medieval history to middle schoolers and now I get to relive my teenage music loves with an amazing twist. Thanks for doing this!
Lady Hildegard von Blingin', accompanied by an as yet unknown artist to me known by the masses as Collin Vodicka, a perfect appearance on mine first day off this week.
we can assume this was penned in the late 15th century, when chili peppers start to appear in Spanish written records. the term "Black Summer" may refer to the intensification of cold summers in northern Europe that occured between ~1430 to 1455 - decades before the introduction of chili peppers, but something that may have lingered in cultural memory.
I've been listening to your music for a long time now (and have used it in several D&D games) and just figured out where your name comes from. Amazing. :)
Light the signal fires! Alert the kingdom, Hildegard Von Blingin has returned with more excellent music!
Ring the bells!
and Rohan will answer!
Where was doberski6855 when The Black Summer dropp’d?

"I'd rather be a dog and bay the moon" is a great replaced line.
What's the original line?
@@oriontigley5089 China's on the dark side of the moon
I believe it is from Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, "I'd rather be a dog and bay the moon, than such a Roman"
So beautiful, and the lyrics well chosen. "My thyme is choked with rue" hits extra-hard if you're only listening.
That was s stand-out line for me, too. If Ib were the embroidering type, I ‘d make s pillow out of it.
Had to look up what rue was (besides a plant) and I was like…ooh that’s a great line! ‘My time is choked with regret/remorse’
"Black Summer" strikes differently upon Australian ears with eyes that have beheld flames invading the land
Absolutely. And honestly smoke every summer has become a regular sight where I live too now. I hope we all have a safe fire season. 🙏

It’s largely looneys lighting fires so they can claim it’s ’climate change’.
I believe this whole song was inspired by the California wildfires a few years back.
I remember being able to smell burning eucalyptus from New Zealand on New Years day in 2019/2020
Love the Red Hot Chilli Pepper plant in the artwork 😅
Thank you for noticing 🌶

Hidegard was mentioned on a Radio New Zealand , National , segment last week
Name of show? So I can try and fimd online.
"Waiting for another black summer to end" would be especially relatable during the plague.
I like how esoteric RHCP are, that half of the lyrics didn't need to be transcribed 😂
My only complaint is we don't get songs more often. But the wait is ALWAYS worth it!

Thanks that we have you Sister Hildergard to provide us with beauty in our misery! We live for this moments to aleviate the pain! Thanks, Danke!
I wonder how "Rig Tim Tagi Dim" would sound with this angel's voice
Ah, the Voice of Heav'n descends once again to lift our weary spirits and soothe our aching souls. And I, for one, am grateful.

As a Red Hot Chili Peppers fan, this makes my heart so happy! What a beautiful version!!!
Indeed!
Auroch is a choice substitution for platypus. 10/10 bestiary knowledge.
brilliant as always "my thyme is choked with rue, a secret garden, that i never knew" so many interpretations. always a pleasure to see a new work
Spectacular!!!! The chili pepper plant in the illumination is also PERFECT! I love it!!
Simply sublime, as always. The best singer on RUclips.

Melancholy in a lovely way.
A melancholic vapour dost ‘ang on thee? Leeches ‘ave I for all manner of distemper of th‘umours for but 3d. an ounce.
What a beautiful rendition - those medieval bards rocked🙃. It's a cruel world.
The day is darkest right before a fresh Hildegard upload.
O Maiden fair, thou steal hearts with Angelic melodies once more.
The voice of the angel hath returned once again to grace us with another beautiful cover to brighten up the day ❤

Beautiful! Absolutely lovely!
New Von Blingin' Song, AND it's a cover of a song from my favorite band? Never have I clicked a video so fast.
She came, she delivered and she left.
These are always so good and different from the originals between words and sound I doubt even YT can tell the original song and flag it.
Can't wait to be blasting this in the tavern with the boys tonight after toiling in the fields all day!
Ok, so I love the original song so much, and I love Hildegard Von Blingin. Is it my birthday all of a sudden?!
Beautiful!
Good lyrics, pretty voice.
