Ok as a French person, I can tell that it is first American movie that shows a realistic image of France and not the usual clichés like baguette , croissant, etc..A beautiful story of redemption
Yeah I live in Switzerland (Geneva so close to the border) and I've been to France a few times and tbh it does indeed look like that, and so does some parts of Switzerland

(IMO), I don't think Matt Damon is underrated. Matt Damon and his friend Ben Affleck are both pretty good Actors, Directors & Screenplay Writers.
Goodwill Hunting is a prime example of their writing ability.
They can Direct their own movies too, which shows just how Talented both Damon & Affleck really are.....
In fact the movie ''Air'' will probably get an award this year. It's an awesome movie and both Matt Damon & Ben Affleck were the Producers & also the film was Directed by Affleck.. See it when you get a chance...

Could have easily replaced the state he’s from with another southern state, given him a different blue collar job and this movie would be exactly the same.

Just watched the movie, expecting for the crime story and the action, but end up with emotional train which is much better. Its a deep and thoughtful movie with an ironic twist. The movie is a little bit slow but it makes the story more 'real'. Good movie, thumbs up

After the Bourne series, I forgot how good of an actor Matt Damon without the fight scenes is until watching this movie. I hope they make more movies like this. No CGIs, only life story, connections among the characters, especially between Bill and Maya. Beautifully directed and casted.

Just saw the movie, a must watch, the ambiance in Marseille is a another vibe. Matt trying to speak French with Maya was amazing !
How gory and explicit is it? I am not sure if they go I to detail how the girl dies and would like to take my teen to see it.

Was randomly flipping through the channels and this movie came on.I was lucky to catch it from the very beginning. I can barely count on 10 fingers when it comes to my favorite movies and this will be another one added!The movie is still on and I cannot look away.Matt Damon's acting in this movie blew away...I didn't even realize it was him at first with the Southern accent.😂His French speaking was at times perfecto.Not sure why I'm only now finding out about now.

Love how this movie is named after and will have some scenes in my home town, Stillwater, OK. I remember the news mentioning he was filming a movie a couple of years back and coming here to visit. Can't wait to watch this.

I was born in Marseille and very happy to see the city being shown to an American audience. This film looks great!

I used to practice as a lawyer in Marseilles for 10 years. I left in disgust because it is very very corrupt. So what the trailer suggests about Marseilles seems quite fitting, and possibly an understatement. Nice food and weather there, but DEFINITELY DON'T DO ANY BUSINESS there.

It is NOT an action suspense thriller.
The trailer doesn't in any way reflect the tone and content of the film.
"Stillwater" is a brilliantly crafted character study within a personal family drama.
It isn't rushed, you take your time savouring the detail, and the ending packs an emotional wallop.
This is a good thing
