Excellent tutorial, the best one I've seen. The others just blast through it thinking everyone else is a born soloist!! My first attempt at a solo, normally play rhythm. Thanks for putting this on here.
out of all of the tutorails and teachings, all the big youtube names etc, this one here is actally the best eplaining and nice and calm and easy to follow. still hard to learn it tho ..but in my humble opinion, best tutorial. even in 2019 :D
3 months is pretty early for solos man. My brother and I have been playing for a few months now (I regret to say I practice way too little), but we're still practicing basic chords and stuff. Great to hear you were able to master this solo, though.
This video is the most perfect example of a good guitar lesson. Teaching step by step slowly and then faster is the best way. Good job and. I'm looking forward to see other solos than I want to lern suck as iron man, black sabbath or children of the grave.
Thanks so much Chefão! I'm really glad you found this lesson helpful! Please feel free to share it and I'm sure I'll do some more Black Sabbath solo lessons in the future! 🤘

ASUSthing is right IMHO : second part, fourth bar, it's not 8(B)-9(G)-9(G) but 7(G)-9(G)-9(G). Based on record and original tab book. Still, it's the best tuto over here to learn this masterpiece of heavy, very helpfull for me, thanks a lot mate.

@@cgguitar I did. But I noticed that you sometimes tell us to play parts differently (while you break it down) than what the tabs say and how you play it at normal speed. and also I'm really struggling with these release bendings into pull offs. Is the very first bend really and up and down not just a down?
@@marshalfrancis3353 Oh fair, I hadn't noticed that. I hope the explanation still helps you crack it. Yeah bend release pull-offs are a tricky one to start with. Make sure you've nailed your normal bend ups and bend up releases before tackling them. Then practice the movement slow and controlled. It's a technique I help a lot of my students with. The first bend can be played as a pre-bend then release, yes.
@@cgguitar yeah last section for example . second to last bar you play the 12 on d twice and the tabs doesnt say so. thats very important for the iconic sound.. edit: it does say so correctly but its not a hammer on.
hey man awesome lesson , well done !! one question.. if i play the notes instead of doing the pull offs at the third section ,will the sound be the same ? thank you
kouasimodos 007 Thanks a lot! I’m glad you think so. 😁 In theory yes they can sound the same or similar if you pick them rather than using pull offs. But in order to do that you’ll need to be able to pick the notes faster enough and it may not sounds as smooth and flowing as if you were to use pull offs. I hope that helps.
Hey man really nice tutorial, thank you. But 1 got one question. I watched serveral Paranoid Solo tutorials and everyone is using the ringfinger for the fast section with the bendings on the 15th. Is there a reason for that? Wouldn't the pinky be faster? Greetings 🤘🏼
Hey! Really glad you think so and hope you found it helpful. Good question! In all honesty I sometimes switch to using my pinky when playing that kind of stuff. I try to encourage my students to use the pinky as much as possible and where appropriate to help develop it. So I would say if you feel comfortable using your pinky instead of your ring finger then go for it! Your finger strength and independence will be better off in the long run. Hope that helps. 🤘
Im new to electric. played acoustic for years but when i attempt this my notes just die out. whats effects are used in solos so ur notes ring out and scream? its quite frustrating
It could be technique based and something that will improve as you progress but adding a bit of overdrive or distortion can help and/or a bit of reverb and delay. Sometimes compressors help sustain notes too. You might want to consider getting your guitar checked to see if it's set-up correctly and whether any of the frets are uneven, as this can choke some notes when trying to sustain them. It can be a number of things but I hope that helps and gives you some direction. Always happy to help more so just let me know 😊
@@88mccloskc Sure thing, not a problem at all. I use an Axe Fx II but on there I'm using a Marshall amp and cab with an overdrive pedal before the the amp and then a reverb pedal after. I've also put a subtle ring modulator in the chain to try and achieve that raspy fuzzy tone the original recording had. You could use a fuzz octave pedal to get a similar tone too. Cheers, Charlie 😊
When I was practicing the difficult part near the end, my high e string snapped, the strings had been on For quite a while though. I practiced the solo so much that my fingertips actually went numb
@@user-simon7 yeah there’s a lot of bends in this solo. Take your time and work on practicing your bends and pitching them correctly for at least 5 mins a day. After a couple of weeks you’ll notice your fingers are a lot more supple. Of course I can’t diagnose your technique unless I see you in a lesson but hopefully that advise helps.
