- Traffic on San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge was shut down in both directions Monday as a group of protesters blocked southbound traffic, according to California Highway Patrol. Helicopter footage showed protesters with a banner that read "STOP THE WORLD FOR GAZA" across the southbound lanes.

Disrupting the norm is the absolute epitome of protest. This is what the 1st amendment looks like. They are not getting arrested due to their speech, but rather for blocking a roadway. Civil disobedience requires a disruption of the status quo and acceptance of the consequences.
This is the only way to get people to pay attention. Both the American state and American media are pro-Israel, so the average person isn’t being exposed to the Palestinian perspective. We have to do it ourselves. Disruption is the best way to grab your attention.
Who is charged when an Ambulance can't get through?

A protest on a bridge is insanity...they forget bridges have weight limits and aren't designed to have cars stuck sitting in place. This is a bad idea and puts people in danger without providing any help to the Palestinians

I used to think that auto smash and grabs, having your catalytic converter and tires/wheels stolen, or being jacked was bad. However, at least afterwards you would likely be sitting at home and not continuously feeling helpless with thousands of others, all at the whims of a few. Being intentionally kept stuck in traffic for hours (5) is the same as being forcefully kidnapped for ransom. The kidnappers are trading human hostages for media attention.
