Lou Diamond Phillips (La Bamba, Young Guns) joins us this week and shares his gratitude for being able to sustain a successful career in the arts for over 40 years, while highlighting the importance in open conversations about mental health along the peaks and valleys that come with it. Lou talks a lot about his experience in La Bamba - going from a day player to being Ritchie Valens, having just seven days to prepare the songs, and the biggest shock that came with his portrayal. We also talk about his pursuit for acting coming out of Texas, his hopes for a return to Young Guns, and the work ethic that propels him into so many different projects. Развлечения
La Bamba is a classic. 👏👏👏
he's great in everything but i loved his turn as Cisco in THE BIG HIT. Sooooo good!
1 million doolers!
in (1988) i know it came out in (1987) but for those who are young on here what they used to do is it would generally take about a year to hit video as i will always call it. now it's much sooner because of streaming. but this is the film that introduced me to him & than there's the masterpiece of Stand And Deliver (1988) and my favorite western of all time Young Guns (1988)
I first saw Labamba when it started showing on HBO. And my 8 year old self was obsessed with this movie.
@@cjpatz I can remember renting this and loved it and I still do
@@rolandofgilead43 yeah, I also remember doing everything I could to to get my hair to stand in a pompadour like his, but could never do it.😂
@@cjpatz I never tried that but you would need to pay a hair dresser I'm guessing?
@@rolandofgilead43 I wish I’d thought of that, I guess I thought Ritche never had a hair dresser, so I gotta be like him and do it myself.😂
ritchieeeeee!!!!!
Im more happy that when he unmasked on "The Masked Singer" he got to perform "Labamba". He should have been allowed to during filming. That made music history. The ONLY problem with casting Lou was he was too tall, seemed like it.
Let's not forget about The First Power!
One of my favorites
And Young Guns.
Sometimes opportunities that are made for you just present themselves🤩
He's great. Lou knows We kill to live and live to die.If we stay here we die. We have nothing to lose. We must explore the lands beyond the ice wall and center of our Plane directly under Polaris at Magnetic North to see if Hyperborea exists and if there is a portal out of this no win situation.
Lou has had and still is having a great acting career. BtW love the movie The First Power!
Didn't know La Bamba before this film( I was under 10). But a great movie. Lou did a phenomenal job
Tip of the cap to Michael with the Dave getting stitched up on the bench T-shirt.
“Dave’s a killer! Dave’s a mess”
Glad he was able to escape Flour Bluff and Corpus Christi.
Corpus is Beautiful
La Bamba was a great movie!
Zuit suits haha what a callback.

The First Power baby!
Wipe your camera off.
Seems likely a genuinely nice guy
