It's rare to see a RUclips comments section without any negativity in it... a testament to the kindness of Deadheads! To all who enjoyed it, I will be posting more from this show soon, including Sugaree feat. George Porter Jr. Keep an eye on my channel.
Dustin Rudzinski you should see the Dead and Company live stream chat. Not everybody’s mean but you do get arguing once in a while. I’m surprised by that
for the lucky audience, marcus catches fire, on the mt....you can tell when he starts (14:25), magic is afoot, he's hitting incidentals, waking the spirits, and then he takes off, and spirals out of this world (a la jerry) r.i.p.....blew everyone out of the water with his liquid, peaking, delightfully screaming 355... the (apotheosis) escape velocity was attained, plus he can sing as sweetly as he plays...., and the look on phil's face.....fabulous performance of a fabulous song!
I heard some really really sweet playing by the various configurations and offshoots, but I've not heard anybody play on the heroic level since Jerry died. That doesn't mean it hasn't happened, just that I haven't heard it. But in any case thanks to everybody involved for picking up the torch of group improvisational music.
What constitutes "heroic" is subjective. . . there are plenty of great guitar improvisers out there. . . Marcus King, among them. . . No one will replace Jerry, anymore than anyone will replace Jimi, Wes, Duane, Bloomers, Grant Green, BB, Sonny Sharrock, Larry Coryell, etc etc etc. . each player brings something unique. . . maybe you're so focused on Jerry that you're not actually hearing what others bring to the feast. . .
- When you realize that after 30 years of waiting, Phil is finally coming to your hometown. =🤩 - When you realize AFTER the show that your tickets were all access backstage passes, and nobody told you. =😫🤢
Whoever is on that SG is the only guitar player that can hold a candle light up to the PLAYING of the Jear Bear. There's been many, but none come close to the ebb and flow of Jerry. This Cat comes pretty close.
I once saw soulive in a secret concert on the 11th floor of the Library at UMass Amherst back in 2000. I think Rashawn Ross was playing trumpet also before he joined Dave Matthews.
say what you will, theres only one jerry but honestly john mayer has proven that he can bring it with the best . i think his initial reception was met with skeptacism from the old fans but hes won them over. this kid marcus king is just getting started, he a very blues based pentatonic players but hes only going to get better
This was a one-off show just before Thanksgiving 2017. Outsiders Ball was a party thrown by the production company Outsiders Presents. There may be another someday, but they skipped last year.
I know Phil probably knows what he’s doing and has carefully selected every member of his band, but that drummer he’s got doesn’t carry the beat like bill does. It’s all good tho.
This hurt my ears. Not even the slightest effort to capture the "sound" of The Dead. Did any one of them ever even hear the boys live. Phil, boobala, you could've done so much better. Ya don't get the Vienna choir boys to sing The Doors. Ya don't get three harpists to play the Sex Pistols. Ya know? (Sorry D.R.)
“Capturing the sound of the band” would make them a cover band. They are putting their own spin on it which is exactly what the Dead did with folk, bluegrass, western, etc. I’ve loved the Dead since the 70s but honestly it’s nice to get a fresh perspective. I think Jerry would dig it. Phil certainly approves.
Dustin Rudzinski So who gives you the right to tell me to get lost just because I have an opinion that is not in agreement with you or anybody else? It’s just my opinion, why don’t you just chill out and enjoy the band. 🤷♂️
There is a lot of music I have been listening to my whole life (i'm 63). I get tired of most of it after a while but never get tired of the dead.
Marcus King is tearing up the music scene over the last year or so. He's playing with everyone, and I'm loving it! Great video!
Marcus IS THE KING!
Love Marcus King. 👑 "that's what I'm talking about".
Phil’s bass lines are beyond this world.. cant get enough! Love the steady drums aswell!
If I’m not listening to 70’s vinyl albums; I’m listening to Phil Lesh Shows.
Well, this is is simply freaking awesome.
No doubt. Had did I miss this ?
It’s April 11/2023.
Marcus just played with them again recently
Marcus King!
Marcus King has a musical maturity beyond his years.
Yes
This is the best version I’ve ever heard outside the dead, love Marcus King!😎

all love, dude...
Please do post more, Thank you so much for the treat.
Dustin Rudzinski you should see the Dead and Company live stream chat. Not everybody’s mean but you do get arguing once in a while. I’m surprised by that
Thanx Much!
Thx for sharing the music today and alwo
Marcus brings everything to life, what a phenomenal talent.

You’re a poet , we’ve seen Marcus 7 times , going to Dublin to see him in November
Damn-- Marcus King-- a musical giant in the making ! ! !

This song to me reminds me of the night i met my wife to be.18yrs later still reminds me of her❤
Marcus king!!!
In the presence of greatness
Thank You Phil n band . Marcus , i like your friends now . and please turn up on first solo . Peace
it amazes me that it took until 2016 for Eric Krasno to finally sing when he's got such a great voice.
Meh, hell of a guitar player though.
He sounds to much like Mayer However His Is Fing Great Tasty
@@chrisvaughn6381 here from the future you are a loser
Damn , this is good
Marcus’ playing just hits different.
This was excellent .
This is as close to real as can be expected. Nice!
Marcus King is fucking amazing......love that kid!!!
Not to be overlooked, but I think the keyboards did a great job of keeping it together and punctuating the rides.
That would be the amazing Ivan Neville of New Orleans' Dumpstaphunk, and Chris Spies of Mobile's Nerf the World (among many other acts).
Exactly!
As of right now Phil’s band is out performing the current dead cover band ❤
I would like to see them in concert
lucky enough to go to the fantastic concert
Getting hyped to see the boys tonight in Chicago! LETS GO!
This is an awesome lineup
Thank you posting this ! My ears mind and soul THANK YOU
Hey man I think it's awesome with you sharing these shows! Nothing like a bunch of Deadheads still getting together
Marcus is a bad bad man. What a talent.
The night before Thanksgiving in Mobile, Alabama of all places.
Incredible
WoW. Great to see Marcus tearing it up
Very pretty. Ty.

old folks love this band
And yung folk too...
Phil is in a meditative state during MK's solo during FOTM. Just smiling away
Phil's pretty old. Probably thinking about the Matlock episode he watched earlier. j/k, I love Phil!
Phil just lit up from the time marcus started singing and through his solo.
After the Show these guys headed down to the Local Bar & JAMMED some more - lol
Nice. Real Nice.
And don't forget Eric Krasno!
wow
Question for Marcus King : R U EXPERIENCED !?!??!??!?
- When you realize that after 30 years of waiting, Phil is finally coming to your hometown. =🤩
- When you realize AFTER the show that your tickets were all access backstage passes, and nobody told you. =😫🤢
WOW MAN THIS IS WHERE THE SPIRIT OF THE DEAD EXISTS!
Eric & Marcus setting the bar High Almost AS High as Warren & Jimmy
Maybe if they played together for 3-4 years
Let's not get carried away... This is an impressive lineup no doubt. A little surprised Ross James doesn't get any love though?
Sounds so much better then Dead an company!!
Whoever is on that SG is the only guitar player that can hold a candle light up to the PLAYING of the Jear Bear. There's been many, but none come close to the ebb and flow of Jerry. This Cat comes pretty close.
Look up Soulive! Great band
He's in Lettuce as well.
I once saw soulive in a secret concert on the 11th floor of the Library at UMass Amherst back in 2000. I think Rashawn Ross was playing trumpet also before he joined Dave Matthews.
Hell yeah
say what you will, theres only one jerry but honestly john mayer has proven that he can bring it with the best . i think his initial reception was met with skeptacism from the old fans but hes won them over. this kid marcus king is just getting started, he a very blues based pentatonic players but hes only going to get better
Kraz was tapped in. His tone is beautiful here.
The first music is the style of Gretaful Dead, as if I could hear them.
(sorry if my English is wrong but I write with google translater)
What a beautiful, wonderful jam!
M King...B Strings...H Spirit.. Grateful Brother's Allman Dead BAND!
Ahhhhhhhhh&h
Thanks 😊 🙏
Why does this only have 322 views?
Good question !!! Love Lettuce the band Eric Krasno is in !!!
Marcus my Boy
Yes sir
Every audience member just looks so happy, that's what the Dead does to you!!! :-P
I thought Phil didn't tour anymore. More information on the Outsider's Ball, please.
This was a one-off show just before Thanksgiving 2017. Outsiders Ball was a party thrown by the production company Outsiders Presents. There may be another someday, but they skipped last year.
I can't help but wonder if the psychotropics are up to par for all this...👋😎🤙
Wow.
Barry Sless too right ?
Props to Eric Krasno!
From Patti Cornell
Is Eric Krasno part of the family or am I missing something. Sorry, I'm not from USA...
Kras guests with them on certain shows I believe, I can't find anything on him being with them full time.
Beautiful. I just don't know what 20 people are hearing. I picture people 20 with Fred Flintstone sized thumbs making a mistake.
I have GOT to see this band! The female singer in the center is beyond awesome! Who is she?
Jennifer Hartswick, from Trey Anastasio Band
A lot of the people on stage were guests from other bands.
Thanks for the info, I appreciate the response, and keep up the good work.

So much better than anything Dead and Co has ever played
So true
Does Outsiders plan on releasing any additional the Proshot footage?
Yes, soon.
Dead Spirit is in the place!
Stay off the drugs Marcus. World needs your music
Need more guitar players....
Way to hold down the bass Mr. Lesh, against SO many guitar players!
Good version.... Not sure Grahame really needs to be there (3 gtrs is over kill) sorry 4 gtrs.... lol
I kinda like the fuller sound here though
Pig pen Bret Duane Keith Barry Gregg Levon Rick Jerry Richard Butch RIP.... were ok....
Marcus is new Tech Sorry all you wanna be Treys Marcus the King
I know Phil probably knows what he’s doing and has carefully selected every member of his band, but that drummer he’s got doesn’t carry the beat like bill does. It’s all good tho.
Anyone else notice Graham less try to come in on vocals and get shot down? He actually has a great voice too! He looked a little peeved!
Warren Haynes is the top of the Heep Derek Trucks I Sure Like the Krasco&King

The only complaint out of hundreds of comments... you're on your own there, pal.
Wish they would have stayed on the leads rather than just randomly jumping around with the video editing.
That would be boring. Not everyone wants to stare at a guitar for 10 minutes.
Some of the lights above the crowd are hypnotic, I think it’s a bonus
This is definitely a band that is in desperate need of a quality vocalist. I have every dog in the neighborhood howling!
You are definitely in the minority with your opinion, judging by the comments. So, see yourself out the door.
Dustin Rudzinski So who gives you the right to tell me to get lost just because I have an opinion that is not in agreement with you or anybody else? It’s just my opinion, why don’t you just chill out and enjoy the band. 🤷♂️
Because nobody cares to hear your opinion, so why not stfu and let people enjoy the band.
Dustin Rudzinski Enjoy the band, I am not preventing you from that. If you don’t like my replies then ignore them.
They sure gave Marcus King a poor mix
Commercial in the middle of a song. Jerk!
I didn't put the commercial in the middle of the song. you don't want commercials, pay for RUclips Red.
Commercial.in the middle of a.song. shame on you!
You trippin', there's no commercial.
Money grubbing
Oh hey, it's that guy.
It’s April 11/ 2023
