    Unpopular opinion, since internet people (you lot) tend to knee jerk react - Pierre looked pretty innocent in the prior incidents to the one with Dave. The blue Porsche decided to swerve into him on the straight and then when he was slipstreaming the same Porsche on the next straight, judging by the sudden closing speed, it appeared the Porsche suddenly got off the gas which Pierre wouldn't expected and couldn't react in time.
    And the incident with Ahmed, that's more on Dave for moving across a car while it's still on his side.

    • @krisbarr5663

      Agree. The porsche seemed to lose his mind. #11 didn't do much wrong in those clips. Just tagged #15 on corner exit. Easy mistake. Other incidents were all on #15.

    I am just a rookie in iRacing but I understand the basic common courtesies of racing.
    Proper race Etiquette, and respect are what a lot of people seem to lack.
    Being laps down you let the lead lap cars past you unless you are faster or yourself racing for a position. But even if this is the case I would let the lead lap cars by.

Your races help me see in race driving techniques, use of braking and throttle in traffic. Safety rating class A 4.5 or more formula and road cars. SR abt 1500. I have to do short races or I lose my edge. Your use of braking to point the car shows on your telemetry, a big help. You don't have to win to get ahead as you show in the after race overview. I think I need to forget everything I think I know and re-learn how to drive. I remember once on GT7 entering the online and I couldn't understand why everyone was crashing in to me and then blaming me! Just not confident on my braking points.

      @@ohgeez9971 Thanks yeah, it is kind of a vicious circle as sometimes I think going online would help me, I just don't want to ruin others races. I am working my way through the offline modes, admittedly on an easier AI level, and that seems ok, but I think I need to improve my consistency as I am probably going in to corners too fast. Or just getting on full throttle too early and spinning.
      I remember being about 10 seconds behind Dave at Monza when I tried the other week and that was one of my best laps 🙂 and I just thought how was that like 10 seconds different!
      I guess I am just trying to go too fast where I shouldn't so compromising exits.
      Still, I keep watching and observing the telemetry to try to see where the differences are, but these days I don't get much time to practice. Usually just on weekends when the kids have gone to bed.

    We all have races like that on here if we've been on iRacing long enough, don't we?
    I have a real problem with the iRacing community as of late. Ever since the Covid boom it seems like people are just way more trigger happy when it comes to getting angry over minor racing incidents and running to Nim to protest every little transgression or retaliating immediately without even attempting to talk to the other guy first. I just got protested last week for the most minor, non race ending, non damaging 0x bump under caution in a Martinsville race, and it was upheld! I was shocked. I try to race everybody pretty clean but apparently people get upset over little things like that. It's frustrating because it seems, especially on the oval side of things, most other people don't really give a crap if they use you up and you receive the punishment for their mistakes and dirty driving. And yeah, technically that's "breaking the rules" but Jesus Christ, I'm just like "get over it already" because it's really not that big of a deal.

He already started to get his nose along when you basically close the door up on him giving him only a car's width. Racing online with different connections and all that fun stuff there's just no reason to make it that risky, it could have just as easily taken you out.

    Pierre was wiggling a little from your cockpit angle just before he brake tested you. He should have pulled over at the first instance to keep you in contact with those you were racing and then tucked in behind you.
    What I don't get is like everyone else why did you serve the slow down as soon as you got it. You have 38 seconds to give the time back and yet you did it on the 2nd fastest part of the circuit. It would have been easier to keep the speed up and just brake a little earlier and harder at the hairpin (slowest corner on the circuit) and that would have nullified your time loss. You could then still be in draft on the long straight (as Kim was braking so hard and going so much slower then you each time. Would have meant you could have had a chance at passing on the last lap or 2 instead of being 2.7 seconds back and having to make up all that ground.

    Well that was some racing lol.. I have watched the incident with Ahmed multiple times over, even with 0.5x speeds, watched the telemetry, your movements etc.
    My take on this is: Yes, you could have given Ahmed a little bit more room butttt... and there are several well rounded but(t)s...
    - Dave is defending and has the racing line, this goes for IRL racing too, Ahmed chose the absolute worst time to try a overtaking move on the most difficult corner of the track, which leads Dave to change his path slightly for him to be able to turn in (note, he did NOT turn in to Ahmed, watch the telemetry, Dave even countersteers moment Ahmed touches his car). This is important because Dave is a defender and Ahmed the attacker and in the Motorsport rules it says that the attacking car must have a wheel in front of the defending car to be seen as a fair attempt to overtake (in dumb and dumber language, the car in front has the right of way)..
    Again Dave could've (in a very fair world) given Ahmed some room but again Dave is the one that has the "right of way" so to speak and Ahmed should've anticipated the fact that he was not going to make that corner, or he would've put Dave in the wall because that corner is near impossible to take clean with 2 cars side by side.
    - As a attacking car you have to find that gap that could actually lead to a clean pass, here was just not enough room and Dave was well in front. Just because you try to overtake doesn't mean that you can Force the defending car to back off.
    Dave did nothing wrong, in the end it is a racing incident, Dave defended and Ahmed chose a shit time to pass.🤷🏼‍♂️

      They make contact after 7:16 and they're basically side by side. Ahmet can't go any more left than he already does and he is allowed to be there. Dave swerves to the left all the way up the straight. I like Dave as much as the next guy, but this is all on Dave and perhaps a bit of netcode.

    • @rbs95
      @rbs95 Год назад +2

      @@KinGzeDK Ahmed can go more left than he does though, that's the issue. Not much, admittedly, but there's still about a metre of space to Ahmed's left side when contact is made. It's that contact that veers David left even more.
      Also, saying Dave "swerves" to the left all the way up the straight is a massive misrepresentation. He very slowly and gradually moves to the left along the straight to squeeze Ahmed up to the edge of the track, which he does perfectly.
      Dave leaves Ahmed just enough room, and it's unfortunate that Ahmed didn't quite use all of the space he was given. Dave very fairly said himself that he COULD have left more room, but ultimately the crash was still avoidable on Ahmed's part with the space he had available.

    • @MrBobDobalinaNZ

      @rbs95 Год назад +1

      @@MrBobDobalinaNZ on reflection I think you're right. Ahmed is alongside so is entitled to hold his line, and is driving parallel to the edge of the track. Dave is angled in such a way that he is drifting slowly across the track into Ahmed's line, so the contact is initiated by Dave.
      I do still agree with pretty much everything in my above comment though - contact was still avoidable from Ahmed's side (even though he shouldn't technically have to) because there was still space to use, and Dave definitely wasn't "swerving" as the person I replied to suggested.
      Definitely wasn't massively egregious and I doubt anything will come from a report, but one for Dave to keep an eye out for in future and make sure he's not crossing the line when squeezing someone.

So yea common sense would tell me to pass in any other turn. And as the car in the back I know the chances of us getting thru that chicane side by side is like 3% so it just isn't worth it tbh. It was perhaps a little mean spirited, but frankly, you're racing. Do note that that braked around the same time and Dave's car was slightly ahead, which means Ahmed had a little bit more braking distance to work with and he was on the outside, so he doesn't need to slow down as much to tuck in behind and make the corner. Regardless, whether the move was on or not is largely irrelevant, the initial contact is still on Dave.

      With the over speed I'd say they'd have pretty much the same braking point as one another, and for the outside line to be able to brake later and still take the corner, one car would have to become ethereal and allow the other to pass through.
      But as for the initial contact, like I say in the initial comment, a little mean spirited, but there is sufficient space. Although the right to continue in a straight line unimpeded can't be debated, Dave was travelling in a straight line too, he doesn't move to make that contact, it's just close racing. In my opinion. Totally respect you have your own.

I don't understand how you can totally miss this vital part of the incident and proceed to comment.
      Oh and the overspeed, firstly, that is the worst term to describe the situation. Secondly, Dave was slightly ahead, so the other car only needs to slow down slightly more to tuck in behind. Sorry, you're wrong.
