The Quest 3 version is amazing, although it looks like the PCVR version is having issues with game crashes, I myself have issues with the PCVR version and cannot play. ‼️The PCVR issue is fixed and I am in the process of playing through the PCVR version to get MUCH better gameplay videos for you soon. The issue with crashing was caused by OpenXR Toolkit. If anyone has similar issues, disable or uninstall OpenXR Toolkit if you have it installed.‼️ That being said, any stuttering seen in the video is caused by me, and not a game issue. There is some mild loading stutters here and there for brief moments as you load into new areas, but otherwise gameplay is buttery smooth, and when I boosted the CPU and GPU in QGO, those loading stutters went away, and things look AWESOME! The stutters in this video are due to a poorly optimized QGO profile I had loaded as I was testing it out, just want to make that clear. 🤌
"although it looks like the PCVR version is having issues by many with game crashes, I myself have issues with the PCVR version and cannot play." - I dont understand why especially VR continues to be plagued by this. Why cant we just get a VR game that runs day 1?
@xXYannuschXx The crashing issue was actually caused by OpenXR Toolkit running. After disabling it, Metro runs great for me on PCVR. So this actually wasn't a game issue in my case. I've since updated my original comment to add this information which I forgot to do.
@OptimusGrizly Was your Quest low on battery at the time perhaps? I know sometimes things can get jittery when there is a low battery. Are you using QGO with the GPU and CPU cranked up a bit? This helped me a lot and the game runs really nicely.
People saying this game doesn't have enough gunplay clearly haven't played past the intro phase. Game is intense and focuses on more than gunplay though. Much more survival focus than a shoot em up title which i really appreciate. Sure it's not pure gunplay but its not lacking it by any means
Contionous movment and teleports, can select the angle of turn from 30 to 90 I think if not using continoius, also you select if you play seating or staying each time you enter the game.
Ngl the graphics are not all that great. the designs and general atmosphere is really good but textures are low resolution and models are low poly. The lighting is also not that great and I think it's too dark in general. My favorite area was the one at 5:30 in terms of graphics but you have to be quick because there is radiation and your filters go out really fast. Hope there are more open and well lit areas like that. The gameplay is good though. There's an issue where for some reason the guns are misaligned so if you have your wrist straight you will aim too high and no option to correct it right now, not too bad if you have time to aim down the sight but when monsters pop in your face you're gonna miss a lot and coupled with how few ammo you get I had to punch like the 3rd monster I saw lol
I can agree with this for sure. The low resolution in some of these clips are my fault for not using QGO sooner when recording footage though, although a high res option should be available in the game itself, and I don't think people should have to use QGO to get QGO quality, but that's a whole other bag of beans 😅 The animations are probably the weakest link to be honest, but everything else was very well done. If the character animations were improved and brought to life like Half-Like: Alyx then this game would be on another level. Regarding brightness, in-headset it's easier to see (yet still dark). You're underground in tunnels with minimal electricity in a post-apocalyptic world, afterall, so having a dark environment makes sense. The flashlight helps a lot 😅 Also, make sure to adjust brightness in the graphic settings. I have mine maxed out which makes things better in the headset.
The q3s I have heard alot about that's good some bad but overall it's really good for the pricing in my eyes only issue I have with it is the fact it uses the same lenses as the q2 so it won't be as nice as the normal 3 but will be more than fine to play with
Just finished the game, its fantastic in atmosphere and story, however I will admit that it faults in gameplay, a drip feed of new mechanics are simply not added throughout the game so the gunplay feels the repetitive, areas also suffer from being too similar, and lastly that final hour with the chase sequence in the dark and no ammo fights against the worm people were painful to get through. However I believe that its all a small price to pay to be immersed into the world of metro. Solid 7 out of 10
I think Metro Awakening IS Half Life Alyx for Standalone. That would basically totally summarize my view on it. If you play it on PC, its probably just going to feel like a cheaper HL:A. Very similar structure, layouts, dialogue. Metro is much darker, and will hit you more in the feels if you've never played Metro. HL:A is probably better written, and will be a total emotional miss if you've never played Half Life 2.
Fun experience for sure, I actually am enjoying it as another Metro game. However, saying its comparable to Alyx makes it look much worse. Not even close to Alyx
ive had a quest 2 for 2 years- just ordered quest3 512GB and just bought this game..... dude do you know the anxiety im having as i type this????? i need time to move faster!! good channel man.
I learned that the hard way with this video 😅 I am in the process of re-recording on PCVR now that I have that working. Things will look MUCH better, because they have awesome capturing tools directly implemented.
@@ThisKory I noticed while recording if when I turn or move around and start seeing tearing and other graphical issues, I would have to turn resolution or other settings down, but didn't really make recording come out bad unless the tearing/graphical issues were really bad. I didn't notice any issues with the video so you may be fine.
I agree but its definitely can be up there among with these games (not in order below alyx lol) 1.Alyx 2.Walking Dead Saint and Sinners 3. Resident Evil 4 quest , 4 Remake and Re8 4. Red Matter series 6.into the radius 7. batman arkham shadow and so on....
Agreed. Graphics are abysmal by current PCVR standards too. Alien isolation is 10 years old and it smokes the visuals and audio of this while running better. Then there's the gameplay...... couldn't stand it, requested a refund.
I agree (edit: with the second half of your comment, I don’t think it’s boring) I think the game is good, but maybe due to people feeling starved for content they’re losing their mind over this game, it’s not even close to RE8, RE4 or even RE7 which only had Duelshock 4 support, again, not saying the game is bad at all, but it’s being way overhyped, I’m enjoying it, but It’s not what people are saying it is.
@salvatorealamia980 You also don't get a gun for the first 20 minutes or so in Alyx as well, so I don't really see your point. The game has a slower start to build up the story and present the world - this applies to most story driven games. Saying the story is boring is entirely subjective, and I found it quite intriguing. To each their own.
No Jank? LOL The gun handling is the jankiest. Nothing like having to aim controllers down having your wrists at a downward 90-degree angle to aim straight. Don't worry about bumping your resolution up to get "PC Like" graphics because we have the same that you are looking at on your Quest 3. Textures and everything are not up to par for PC and are mid at best. Performance is not the greatest on PC, especially for no graphical changes from Q3 to pc, so no "polish" as you state on our end. I wasn't expecting anything breathtaking from these devs anyway. AS2 has its own issues as well that never got polished.
@googleslocik I think comparing games to alyx is rather dated (not hating you over the comparison, just a thought) since no one has really cane that close to as good. I only got to chapter 2, which took roughly 45 minutes, and 40 of it was chapter 1. It was all walking sim im showing some mechanics. Which I will say somewhere good. I liked the whole having to charge flash light and doors with the pack. I honestly could have looked past dated graphics and everything else if it wasn't for the aiming being jank at best. Unfortunately, this is the boot for this dev team for me. Got bored of Arizona sunshine 2. The gameplay got boring, and all its issues. I tried the remake of the first, and it was the same as the second, so 3/3 refunds so far for vertigo.
@@OptimusGrizly I dont like compering stuff to Alyx, since i think that game wasnt that good gameplay wise, its too slow especially on repeated playthroughs, but visually and technically its was real trend setter. Also Alyx was made for the same gpu memory limits, back then max was 8gb vram, quest 3 now has same memory bandwidth and size specs as the 10xx era gpus form 2019-2020. Its crazy we dont see the same texture resolution in games, Lone Echo 1 is even older. And i was worried it will be a snooze fest. The gameplay didnt look too crazy, way too much downtime. Also funny enough the same problem worked well for 7th guest, where slower pace actually allowed you to think on all the puzzles, but a shooter needs good pacing. No idea why their games seem to lack so much on gameplay complexity, its like they make a prototype and never develop ideas past it.
@@ikapustiv I think the no laser/optical sights kind of fits with this style of game. I do like laser pointers on guns in vr, but I do think they are somewhat of a crutch. It makes aiming to easy in most games. This game on the other hand, needs laser pointers since you basically have to shot from the hip.
@@googleslocik Yeah it could have had more gunplay, I played through it on normal and was pretty easy my first time. I later on started my 2nd playthrough on hard and there were some spots where I was running low on ammo and made it a little more interesting. I can't remember where I left of at. I know I never ended up finishing due to other games coming out.
Alyx is a great demo but the game itself is pretty lacking. For one, they teach you to manipulate the environment physically and then completely remove melee combat. It's really baffling.
Yeah my first attempts to capture footage weren't the best (while trying to find good QGO settings), so I definitely didn't do it justice here. Things look much better when captured on PCVR with my "Chapter 1" playthrough video for Metro.
I never said it is. Metro is getting close in many areas though! It's the intricate details that make it stand out. Stamina being heard in your breath rather than a generic bar. Health isn't something you see on an indicator, and it's demonstrated by the sounds you make as you get hit, and the blood that shows over your display. The stealth mechanic doesn't show a big eye on your HUD like Batman or Elder Scrolls games, and instead you know if you're in the shadows and hidden if the blue light on your wristwatch is not lit up. The game has haptic feedback when entering an "activation zone" on your body when going to pick up your guns, backpack, flashlight, etc.. so you feel things better when quickly grabbing them. VO is outstanding and very well done (compared to any game). Comfort options are plentiful with just about every concerning option available. We have amazing "Spectate" view for capturing gameplay on PCVR that smooths things out, brightens the screen, and even enhances resolution to crisp things up (how many VR games have this? 1 out of 100?). Sure, there's no individual finger tracking, the character animations are probably the weakest link in terms of immersion, and the lighting and graphics can be better, but the game has a LOT of small details that add up to make something really nice and fleshed out. Sorry for the rant lol, I got carried away, but Metro definitely surpasses Alyx in some areas here. That being said, I still believe Alyx is the better rounded game, but the devs who made Metro are figuring out those small details that matter so much because they included many of them, and Metro is getting much closer than most other games to meet the quality and details to VR that Alyx brings.
This game is boring, played 6 hours of it and it's a slog. Walking dead saints n sinners is way better. This game does nothing new, and the dull tunnels are not full of details. Wth
