I apologize for my low resolution face but I purposely reduced my face to 720p in order to shift max bandwidth to camera #2 to capture as much detail as possible of the TVs!
And that's why we have different TV's for different Rooms in our place. People also forget that sometimes you have to think about use cases and environments. We have our OLED in the bedroom and SONY X95K 75inch in Living room. Love the brightness and detail plus speakers are very good.
The best advice for tv size coming from our man loving big tvs(Brian at 00:18:43 ) , thanks Brian 👍
My guy FOMO and the crew should be awarded a Nobel prize award for their work in the field of helping the masses make tv buying decisions that would help them sleep better and comfy at night 😁
And a Pulitzer! FOMO and crew could win the war in the Ukraine 🇺🇦
This was my favorite livestream you guys ever did.
Just ordered the QM8, thanks guys!
I think after it is all said and done, I am committed to the TCL QM8 at 85in. I had their 75" 6 series several years ago and sold it in hope to obtain LG's C2 and ended up getting LG B2 at 65in and kind of regret it. Plan on keep the TV and put it in the bedroom, but I'm waiting for the expected Black Friday deals on the QM8 to grab the 85in. It was already at $2100 in early August 2023 on Amazon and Best Buy.
Thanks FOMO for this early avant-goût about QM8, good job
Just ordered the 75" QM8 today. Can't wait for it to arrive
Happy for TCL - they will blow competition out of the water - there is no reason for Samsung to charge same money for mini led as for OLED when the tech is cheaper. MiniLED should be much more affordable. TCL for the win
The point is that Oled is as cheap or cheaper to make than led!
Unles you use MLA or heatsink or something similar special system above normal OLED…
@@haukikannel OLED is still new tech and although manufacturing price is dropping YoY still led is cheaper. Bigger the oled panel higher the scrap rate because of higher probability of dead pixels. That’s why big sizes cost that much. LED doesn’t face same issues with bigger sizes to it’s price matching and sometimes surprising oled ones is artificially inflated.
It is no longer cheaper. It requires a second processor for local dimming and an entire backlight unit assembly.
@@chrisbradley9607 tcl would disagree with you. They have same zones same everything and over twice cheaper
I've seen this Tour de Force movie before. Memba when Vizio was the Sony TV Slayer? Vizio has since been pushed to the bottom of the TV barrel. TCL and Hi Sense were / are known for Value. I paid this Money $1999 (Amazon current list price) for my Samsung Qn90a 75 inch a few short years ago.
If they were asking $999, then this would be ground shattering news. But like, Hyundai today, they are simply charging what the big boyz charged a few years earlier.
This is my top contender for my next upgrade.
Would love to see some 1080p content from something we're all familiar with. Also some scenes that have challenging panning shots. Lord of the Rings movies have both.
Thank you for this video! If I could get the z9j or the qm8 for the same price, what would you pick?
Crazy, my brother just bought the 85 inch QM8 and it doesn't have an IMAX preset and it has 6 presets total not 4 like in this first review. Wonder how the 85 inch is so much different then the 65 inch?
Edit: I guess you only have access to this preset on specific content. HDR10 OR 10+
Hi,can you explain what is the reason other tv manufacturers do not implement "one connect box?
Nebraska Furn Mart had a 75 QM8 on display. It had a flicker in the lower right about 1ft tall by 4” wide. Asking $1999. Maybe not ready for premium mkt.
QM8 looks impressive
Debating between the 98in qm8 or X90L
What would you recommend if primary use is 70/30 gaming/movies
The qm8 and X90L are both the same cost
Qm8 is mini led
X90L is full array led but it's got all the Sony processing and features
How much does this TV weigh? Trying to find the right fully articulating wall mount
How do you know if you’re on HDR or DV mode on qm8? Do banners not pop up at all? Any indicators in menu?
Can you compare the TCL QM8 to the LG QNED 85? I think that might be a worthy comparison.
Are there any problems so far with the QM8?
Hey
Thank you for the great content! 😃
you have amazing videos comparing QM8 to S95C/G3/QN95C but they are very different when it comes to prices x2/x3.
Could you please compare QM8 to a C2/S95B or C3/S90C?
Also would it be possible to use more day-to-day content for comparing? most people stream movies, watch RUclips, watch sports, watch anime (bleach), play games. The 4K tulip/animals videos or 10000nit videos are not daily consumption.
Would you take a 85 inch QM8 over a C2 83 inch?
What’s the best quality tv clearest tv would you recommend under $1500?Thank you
I got both the Samsung neo QLED qn90b and qn90A how the qm8 tcl compare is it better then both or not
The Sharp Aquos XLED is highly interesting. They used to be a brand basically on Sony level back some 15 years ago. Quattron/Aquos etc.
See if they can back to form again.
These are all just LCD TVs with different backlighting. Just get an OLED and be happy. Perfect black is better the a brighter tv. Especially with all this new content that is all so dark and letterboxed. The best lcd has maybe 3000-4000 LED backlights. And OLED has 8 million backlights, as ever pixel can turn off or on. LCD is great for sports in w bright room.
@@michael-4k4000- Yes but that comes at double the cost!
@@michael-4k4000 Nah not really, but you're an OLED fanboy so wouldn't expect anything rational from you. Without equipment to test, for example the Hisense 85UX will look imperceptible to OLED as far as contrast, shadow detail, specular highlights and colour, goes. The PQ will look identical side by side, by eye. Except the 85UX will have superior peak brightness and therefore better and more impactful HDR.
@@kingtrance307 He's an OLED fanboy. Ignore.
Hi Fomo, is this a different model from the TCL c845
Damnit! I missed the live stream!
TCL C935 and QM8 are they the same?
I want to see more information on the Q7 please!!
I've seen a few people online mention the morion issues. Like pixelation/ghosting on fast moving objects. Did you experience any of this?
I love your reviews, Vincent. Too bad the brands doesnt release all tvs here jn brazil. Except for lg with their c and g oleds thr othrr brands just release the medium or entrance tvs.
For what you have seen now with the current 2023 Displays as well as previous years.... What would be your #1 Pick for a 75/77 inch Display that does it all Very Well.. Great Picture for Movies, TV Content, Sports etc. but that also has Great "Gaming" for PS5/Xbox meaning true 4k120hz,VRR (no Halving of Res etc.) that works.
Disregard any onboard sound or Reflection handling etc.. Were talking a SOLID Overall Display focusing on Pure Picture & Performance in the 75/77 Range that would buy with you own Money?? Thanks Guys for all you do... ANYONE CAN REPLY
And one more thing what black stretch do is ad more deep black to the dark seance are anything that is black in the TCL tv.
What is QC control like? I know pannel lottery tends to be worse with some brands more so than others.
Great video guys. Is Value Electronics going to carry the 85" Hisense UX or just the 110"? Thanks.
YES all the flagships! QM8, U8K and UXK
Are you gonna reduo this comparison with Hisense U8K AND UX?
Would dimming zone density be more important than number?
Thankd
The QM8 does 4k 120 with VRR and Free sync premium pro..... It does 240hz at 3820*1080p resolution aswell... Not sure why you'd imply it only does 120 at a hybrid resolution...
Sorry for the confusion, my comments were about the Hisense U8H not QM8
Is this better than the u8h??
How would you compare the qm8 to samsung q90b ? The color depth and black levels?
Well hello StFOMO. We haven't chatted before but here I am. You had some of what I needed. See, even though my poor Panasonic 50" plasma simply REFUSES to die, for about the 4th time in as many years I am circling the TCL lineup. After much lookings I can't see a world of difference in the Q7 and the Q8. In some tests one beats the other, thank you for your work in this patch! Vanity says 8 and pocketbook says 7. We shall see later this summer. I'm gonna pop this time if something else doesn't break down.
My question for you StFOMO is..... And trust me, there is NO pro info on this anywhere on the net. I looked! My question is....how do these things do with older than dirt non 57k black and white movies? We spend far more time on TCM than we do Prime.
I axed one of your colleagues and he kindly replied in a jiff.... He said, unsurprisingly....that he had never looked at b/w on any of his TCLs. I know I can't be the ONLY one out of 8 billion wondering about this. You'll be an instantaneous million seller if you'll pop over to watch DESTINATION MOON or NO TIME FOR SERGEANTS or THE LONGEST DAY. Stuff like that. And then report your findings. I watch way more Ma and Pa Kettle than I do The Matrix. But then there is that too. Ha. Can you help this poor ancient pilgrim? What about b/w? How it do? I thankee!!!
The TCL-QM8 65" dropped $400.00 today! 5/29/23 Today only it looks like, at BB and Amazon.
FOMO please record this on Dolby Vision, it’s not like I’m watching on a Samsung LMFAO😢😢😢😢😮😮😮😮
$400, I’m not made of money lol
It's down another $100.00 this weekend. The price is now $1199.00 so I just ordered mine yesterday 🎉🎉 6/11/2023
@MEGATRON 1 how much is the 75"?
@michael The 75inch QM8 is selling for $1,699.99
Hi, Is QM8 run dual voltage from 100-240v? @Stop the FOMO Kindly help to answer it. Thanks for the help.
No
I currently have an A80J and I'm curious whether the QM8 Does better as far as performance overall, and how close it gets in black levels.
I have the same tv. I regret getting this last year. I’m definitely looking to get this tcl at 75 or 85inch. I like bright tvs
@@tonypaca3015 a80j is so damn dim
Did I miss something? I thought I heard multiple times in the video that the QM8 has 1000 dimming zones.. but the specs says 2300 dimming zones.
Depending on size
1000 zones for the 65” and over 2000 for the 85”
@stopthefomo What about for 75"?
1500
Came into the stream excited for the TCL (still am), but I left just wanting a G3 😂
LOL for $3200 it better be awesome!
So bummed that 55 inch and smaller sizes are not available for the QM8.
I agree - I want Mini LED sizes of 42" and 48"
It's too bad they didn't make a 55" in this model, a 65" is just too big for a bedroom, the 750G's 200+ DZ, is a disappointment in that regard, but it's sitting right where it belongs at that price point as a mid-range option or as a slight upgrade from the R6 series, which makes the R6 a steal right now!
THIS! I really wish there was a 55 inch QM8.
So off angle only the Hisense 75" can compete because it has a superior IPS-ADP PANEL ,therefore you should compare that one ,it will be superior to TCL off angle which is a big deal since not everyone can or sits head on .
the tcl c93 (in europe) from last year in 65' already had 1080 dimming zones if i'm not mistaken. i bought it, image was amazing, almost oled like, blooming almost impossible to see. unfortunately i had to swap 3 times the tv because of dse and vertical bending. after that i gave up and returned it. :/
this is disappointing to hear, looks like their qualiy control is still one of the worse out there. didnt realize you said last year, hopefully this year is better :-)
i see this story a lot. I got an LG B2 over the tcl 935
Sadly this was also an issue for some Samsung TVs costing over $2K
@@Miggleness I see this story a lot too. Yet, I have 3 TCL tvs and have had no problems at all. The first one is almost 10 years old. So there, now you can be really conflicted. Lol.
*Advice, buy it based on reviews, and get the warranty if you're scared. (Although I did not.)
@@stopthefomo yep. The only TV I have the broke is a Samsung. Sony, TCL, Hisense, and LG models all still working.
One aspect that LCDs is they have a limited temperature range of good operation where LEDs do not. LCD stands for Liquid Crystal Display. I'm just wondering if for some cold applications if an OLED TV might stay operational at -6°F and LCDs have long since gone flakey.
I'm not sure I want to watch TV if my house is -6°F
@@deanwilliams433 I would. It’s likely an emergency situation and I want my communications devices to keep on working. My expectation is that it wouldn’t be in a house where this would take place it might be in a barn. That’s short sightedness with a lot of LCD devices.
@@douglasengle2704 They do sell commercial TV's that are designed for outdoor use. It's just odd to want that feature and its increased costs for normal consumer devices. Like I am okay paying 3.5k for a great TV, but I don't think I or many would pay 4.5k for the same TV that also works in low temperature environments.
None of these issues are present on my 75U8H. It's calibrated along with my refined tweaks & all auto settings off, and everyone that has seen this set swore they were seeing an OLED, but with the brightness and detail of an LED.
And no lifted bars . . .
Nobody believes you. TCL QM8 > Hisense U8H
Looks really compelling. Need a more in-depth review ASAP. I'm most curious about processing at this point.
Would love to see how the QM8 compares to a less capable OLED, like the C2.
I would need to see this QM8 in store.. one thing to mention its brnad new with one FW update.. Im certain after 3 or 4 alot of this stuff will improve
BB had the 85” QM8 all the way down to 2200 and the 77” C2 is 2800 right now. That’s one more thing to consider.
Gaming features ghosting and how earc works
You guys keep saying QM8 for $1,500 but for what size? The 65" is $1,699 @ BB today so ...
Price match with Amazon on best buy. Got the 85 for 2499
TCL QM8 85” $2,400 or LG C2 77” $2,800? Mixed content in a living room with some light control. Thank you! 😎
The uh8 looks blurry around 28 min
This TV will change displays at a fundamental level!!!!
Hey @StoptheFomo are you able to replicate unstable or sporadic backlight changes with Dolby Vision content in low luminance scenes? Content such as Silo, Episode 5 on Apple TV+ (or similar scenes). There were scattered reports on AVS Forums. Curious if you’d observed similar behavior.
I just got this tv. Could you post a list of the settings you recommend?
Will do, video coming on that
Hi any update on this? All these settings confuse the heck out of me and i feel like I'm missing out 😢
Great stream. I hope you can do a settings video for those of us without access to a professional calibrator. 😊
Fly in the calibrator. I flew in a calibrator to calibrate my LG 42" C2, and darn was it worth it.
@michael flew in a professional tv calibrator just for a 42" ? That's basically a big monitor not worth spending that much. A few tweaks would have been fine for a tv that size. However a 65" or bigger would have made more sense if a person is flying in a calibrator.
@@dshawnspjute6305 perhaps, but there are no local calibrators. Sometimes u got to poke the bear 🐻 and see what transpires. Speaking of “the bear” what does everyone think about these new allegations about President Trump? Jack Smith wants to take down our great president and destroying democracy! Trump will be reinstated in August according to president a trump. Does anyone wonder what TV President Trump watches?
great review, pretty incredible how much better the qm8 looks compared to an already great U8H (and especially compared to a TV twice the price). could really do without the other dude though, man loves to hear himself talk
Looking forward to seeing how the Hisense UX with it's 5000+ dimming zones is going to compare. Got my eyes on that model this year and especially how it compares to the top tcl and Samsung.
Any release date for the HUX?
wait for the all new sharp tv coming very soon
Wish hisence would drop this ux
Longevity?
I saw the U8H for the first time at Best Buy recently and it blew me away, it looked almost as good as any OLED there, the blacks were impressive and the 65 inch model was $900. I can only Imagine that the QM8 is even more impressive.
I'm sure in a pitch black room both the U8H and QM8 don't quite compare to an OLED, but in a dimly lit to moderately lit room I'm sure they're very comparable to an OLED to the naked eye. In a brightly lit room the Mini LED TVs probably take the lead.
I'm looking to upgrade my aging LG C6 OLED with a mini LED TV this upcoming holiday season, hoping the TCL QM8 or the upcoming U8K is around $1,000 to $1,200 for the 65 inch model during Black Friday or Cyber Monday sales. Actually the 65 inch QM8 is already on sale at Best Buy for $1200, meaning it'll probably drop to $1200 again or even lower this holiday season.
Buy the Samsung S95B.. can't best it..
@ianjameshodges1509 Burn in is a concern, especially since my computer will be connected to it. My current TV is an LG OLED and the screenn burn is pretty bad, there's the RUclips logo, Netflix logo, subtitle bars, and a big faint circle in the middle of the screen all burnt in. Early tests show the S95B isn't immune to screen burn, I think mini LEDs are a good compromise. I get excellent black levels that look almost as good as OLED, with brigtness that exceeds OLED while not having to worry about screen burn.
Just ordered just ordered the 75" at $1799. It's already $500 under msrp
Its the same price as samsung qn90b. Whicj one is better
The 85 is 23999 now.
Banding is exclusive for Oled’s
I'm holding out for a QM8 55 INCH. Until they make a 55 inch, I'm not buying.
QM8 is a steal for the money even at launch price, absolute no reason for average consumer to spend all those money on MLA-OLED.
What a great stream
I got the Lg c1 83” but is it worth to maybe buy the last year TCL 98” tv? Here in Sweden the TCL is around 3k$. Is it a worthy upgrade? Or a big downgrade? I really want imerssion, but dont want to sacrifice to much image quality…
tell me one thing bro. If the whole thing is judged by video quality why do you care about geeks talking in some random tech language to confuse you. You have eyes right? If you can't make out the diff then maybe there is no diff.
After major burn in and pixel failure with OLED I’m done. Next time is mini-LED
Lmao, don't know what model you had, I have a C1, A95K, and S95C, and I have 0 issues...
@@bigcdub LG C6 glad you have no problems but i got burned bad. OLED never again.
@@alanabentrod3963 Yeah, that was first generation, Oled and QD-Oled has come a long way. I’ll take it any day over a technology that uses backlighting and local dimming, and still can’t compete with the rich color saturation and black levels of Oled…

Tcl looks good
TCL QM8 75" for $2,000 or LC C2 77"for $2,8000 for a basement TV that is 70% PS5 and 30% movies? Can't do Samsung as already have a Samsung 40" dedicated for a sim racing rig and the remote cross-talk is annoying... Not sure I need the brightness for a basement and need wide viewing angle, but worried about burn-in ion C2.. BTW, my main TV is a 65" Sony A80J and I love the picture on that, even in a moderately bright room..
LG C2 would be my choice then move up to 77” QDOLED in 5 years. In a dark room you’ll appreciate OLED’s infinite contrast!
@@stopthefomo Thanks for quick reply! Would you say the C2 is better than the Sony A80K at 77". I like the Sony but $2900 is really outside my budget and the $2800 for the C2 is pushing it...
For a dark basement and used mainly for gaming. Infinite contrast and instant pixel response time, low input lag. The c2 is a no brainer.
Can’t wait for the Sony X95L vs A95L comparison
A technology that uses a Backlight, and local dimming v a technology that uses self emersive pixels for superior contrast and blacks, no comparison at all...
@@bigcdub I think what you were trying to say was "self-emissive". Anyway, I'll take higher brightness and larger HDR range over absolute blacks any day of the week. And due to the number of zones on QM8 series, the blooming is minimal.
@@samsabruskongen Lmao, I actually don’t even have the brightness all the way up on my sets, and as far as wider HDR range, I think you mean nits, which my S95C can do 1500, but I don’t even use HDR, I have my sets calibrated in the BT2020 colorspace and it absolutely shits all over anything a inferior LED can muster, any blooming is unacceptable, and I’ll take a richer, broader color palette with infinite contrast over LED garbage all day everyday, and twice on Sunday! And btw, that new TCL uses an 8-Bit panel, another no go…
Omg love this boys
@@bigcdub you're not supposed to have the brightness all the way up. But the higher brightness capability of the set is what delivers the larger HDR range. But yeah you keep watching your "self-emersive" SDR as much as you want.
Also, I know this is an ongoing debate, but I really wish Samsung would just support Dolby Vision already. It's honestly the only reason why I would pick LG and TCL over Samsung, despite Samsung probably having the best TV.
BTW, let's use Sonic The Hedgehog 2 as a movie to test the QM8 out with later.
If sports is the priority, with movies/tv a distant 2nd place, which 85” tv is the best bang for the buck?

The closest would be the C935 from last year
@stopthefomo Cheers. I thought I heard somewhere it was hitting our market but maybe I was mistaken
Whats DSE
Dirty screen effect
all those dirty splotchy stuff or vertical banding that's visible in certain white scenes or gray scenes - my QM8 has acceptable levels but as this is panel lottery, you may not be as lucky!
Is the QM8 an 8 bit panel like the Hisense?
Yes
QM8 need to add color to match G3 thats all
i cant stand the darkness of the g3. so irritating i prefer bright tvs
Hey stop the fomo glad you turn off nois reduction digital noise reduction and smooth gradation clear.. because when there on you lose fine detail and local contrast is micro contrast on local dimming too. So is not the processing is those feature that is turn on make you lose fine detail not the processing so turn them off and you see the big difference I own TCL 4k 50inch tv and I fine tune my tv my self so I know what I'm talking about..

More awareness needs to be raised so more people wait and more pressure is out on manufacturers!! Otherwise they'll just keep dragging their feet with tech that 99% consumers tolerate!
There allready have those $200000… The point is that manufacturing is just so expensive that you need to win in lottery to buy those, And demand does not fix that problem…
@@haukikannel I assume you're hyperbolically referring to microLED, and you're wrong: if more people are aware of precisely just how trash current offerings are and how inferior they still are, where it matters, compared to DECADES old tech, they will be less inclined to rush out and buy the new slop and instead wait for something objectively good. These big companies will choose lower margins over no profits at all any day of the week. If this kind of stand-off happened back before they axed SED we wouldn't have had to deal with the disgraceful insult that has been fed to us since.
if the tcl qm8 at 65 inch has 1000 nits and it is that close to the lg g3 and even better for me because i prefer brightness over a little better contrast then imagine the 75 inch qm8 with 2000 nits. double the zones but not double the size of the tv so there will be improvement. a 75 inch tcl qm8 is definitely better because the oled dont change the zones with the size. it will be the zones no matter if it is 65 or 75. tcl for the win because if 1000 nits is that good now imagine what the 2000 nits qm8 gonna do to the g3.
What?! I mean yeah you don't get a zone increase with OLED because every pixel is its own zone essentially. So at 4k you're getting 8,294,400 dimming zones/pixels. Regardless of screen size.
The brightness will be better on TCL QM8 though no doubt but with OLED and it's inherent infinite contrast not sure it will matter unless you're in a very bright room.
OLED is still king but is it worth 2x the price is the question.
@@BaystheBeast but my question is. if this 65 inch tcl 1000 zones is that close to the lg g3 imagine the 75 inch 2000 zones which is double the zones but not double the size.
@@tonypaca3015 ah I see! I mistook your comment about the QM8 75 inch being better for being better than the OLED, not better than the 65 inch QM8. Indeed the 75 and even the 85 inch will probably be quite a bit better regarding dimming zones per inch versus the 65 inch QM8.
Time stamps please…feels like I’m watching a marvel movie
I apologize, I will time stamp it later this week!
