Thanks! I am repairing a bike they put the seal in backwards for some odd reason and it was filling the primary up with oil. Not to sure what other issues IM about to find. Lol I think it’s gonna be a full rebuild
As to the main shaft end play, I get the impression you consider this build a tight motor. Assembly lube is thick; would you think a lighter weight oil for break in a good idea? Thanx, great stuff.
oil makes no difference. a bearing is tight when you have very little or no clearance. loose is when you have endplay and some jiggle in the crank. assembly lube is thick so that it stays on the part until the oil gets to it. a new motor need very good mineral oil for the break-in process. cheap oil just kills the motor if you break it in hard and quick. the tighter the clearances are the more you need that good oil. tight parts run hot and don't let much oil in. rough machining has the same problems on the heat because of all the high sport that wear in real quick. better have a good filter too for all that metal you are going to get. that is why i do things the way i do and the oils i use. tatro
Great video sir I have a 2012 ultima 113 el bruto an it demolished the pistons An rings I got most of the stuff out the bottom end the crank an Rods still feel good should I still split the cases an have the bearings replaced An do I have to have crank rebalanced with new rod bearings an thank you for your time
it depends on what happened and how it happened. if the crank got pounded on real hard then the rods should be checked out. taking everything apart and cleaning it is the best way to make sure you got it all cleaned out and have no further damage. it doesn't really take that much time or extra maoney to just take it all the way apart. if you leave the crank in the left case you don't need any special tools to split the case and get it done. tatro tatro
Tatro Machine thank you very much sir I will start there is there an email or something I can contact you this is new to me splitting cases done several top ends as in what to look for an thanx again for your time sir
google. all of that info is in the videos. the more you watch them the more you will learn. every motor is different so everyone i do takes different things to make it all to work together. tatro
Tatro Machine I jus discovered the sleeves in the cylinders one is cracked what’s your thoughts on resleeving it an can it be done it’s the ultima 113 El Bruto
they don't have sleeves in their cylinders. those are casted in and are part of the cylinder. sounds like you overheated your motor big time and the detonation killed your cylinders. replacing your cylinders cost less than instating sleeves into your bad cylinders. you would have to bore out all the bad sleeve parts by installing a shouldered sleeve. if you don't it will come loose. tatro
Tatro Machine unfortunately I bought it that way bought it on a whim an was hopin it wasn’t gonna be to bad of a job considering it don’t have nothin for miles but lesson learned an at least it will be that much better when I get done rebuilding it an one more question what do you recommend for crank An rod bearings An are they the same as your standard Harley evo big twin
i think what you are asking is what the stroke of the crank is? this is a Harley, not a car motor. we don't screw around with rod lengths because they are already a very long rod motor. this is a stock 80ci evo motor so it has the stock 4-1/4" crank in it. the rod is stock too and they are all the same at 7.440. tatro

Had a job elsewhere why don't you take your Honda back audio caused a loss in well oiled machine
tatro, i'm not surprised if you haven't made half the tools you use to to do crank and case work.
you got to do what you got to do.
tatro
Tatro, you should patent some of your tools.

Like the look of that sealer. Free Bond? 3 Bond?
3 bond 1184
tatro
I'll track some down. Appreciate the reply
i sell the sealer if you need it along with most of what you see in my videos.
tatro
I'm in the UK so I'll check locally but if I can't find it over here I'll give you a shout.
I have. A 113 ultima an the cylinder sleeves are cracked what’s your thoughts on having it sleeved
they don't have sleeves in their cylinders. those are casted in and are part of the cylinder. sounds like you overheated your motor big time and the detonation killed your cylinders. replacing your cylinders cost less than instating sleeves into your bad cylinders. you would have to bore out all the bad sleeve parts by installing a shouldered sleeve. if you don't it will come loose.

the crank might be ok. the 113ci and under size motors all use the 5 piece evo style flywheel parts.
tatro
Tatro Machine thank you again sir very much
These Ultima cases use the OEM crankshaft?
if you get a stock size set of cases they do use stock flywheels. in most cases if it is under a 120ci you use stock type cranks.
tatro
How length the rod and diametr of the crankshaft? ( in the mm not inch )
get over it, this is not a honda.
tatro
Excuseme So only can explain in the inch scale?
yes. use a translation or conversion program to figure out. that is what i do when i don't know what the metric numbers are. just google it.
tatro
Its so helpfull dude thx, but i not found how wide the crankshaft and how long the connecting rod 😭
