Thanks, Tatro. You did use green Loctite when pressing in the pinion-shaft bushing and the crank pin. Just wondering why you wouldn't use it on the cam gear as well.
same answer again unless you are asking about the pinion gear? then i did. and then i trued the crank because it changes when you tighten the nut down. tatro
All kinds of motors are a combinations of fitments. The gear on the shaft is a typical press fit with interference determined by the shaft and bore size. The larger the shaft and bore the greater the interference fit. If the guy has a problem with pressing things together don't tell him how twin cam flywheels are put together. Just sayin'
I am a little surprised that the only thing that holds the gear to the camshaft is a friction fit.......obviously it works and allows for small changes in cam timing, but just the friction fit bothers me. Ignorance is bliss.
alot of times the gasket is part of your clearance dimension so you better know what it is if you care about what you are doing. only a moron just slaps crap together and thinks everything is going to be fine. tatro
Any benefit in using Loctite sleeve retainer to help the friction fit between the gear and the camshaft?
not if the press fit is correct.

Innaresting
You said shovelhead ???😮

it is called a press fit. alot of parts in the motor are that way.

Dude measure a gasket for real ?
