    When should I plant spring garlic?

    • @uptosomething6271
      @uptosomething6271  6 месяцев назад

      The best time to plant garlic in the spring depends on your local climate and growing conditions. In general, garlic is usually planted in the fall, but if you missed that window, you can still plant it in the spring.
      In spring, it's best to plant garlic as soon as the soil is workable and has thawed from winter. The soil temperature should be around 50 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit (10 to 15 degrees Celsius). This typically occurs a few weeks before the last frost date in your area.
      Softneck varieties are more adaptable to milder climates and can be grown successfully in both fall and spring.

      @@uptosomething6271 that is helpful however what about stored garlic that has started sprouting? I don't know what to do with them. Can I just make a few holes in soil and plant them? My region is mediterranean and this year February is a lot warmer than usual. I find it sad that I should, according to many here, dispose of it while the plant really wants to grow.

    What do you consider a colder zone?

    • @uptosomething6271
      @uptosomething6271  6 месяцев назад +1

      Anywhere that has a last frost date from April or later. For the purposes of this video, if you have an early last frost date (early-mid April) then now is a great time to start these seeds. If your last frost date is later (early- mid May) then starting the end of February may be a better fit.

      @@uptosomething6271 there is a difference between zone and frost date. My last frost date is “late” in May but my zone is 8B a warm zone. When starting seeds frost date is more important than zone.
