Ciar is easily missable if you don't talk to him regularly or the Pillar doesn't give you the quest. This is usually done in Act 3. If you are in Act 5 already, then you won't be able to get him as a companion. However you can solve this by using the ToyBox mod and force certain things to trigger: 1) open the mod, go to Etudes tab; 2) type Ciar in the search bar; 3) look for the Ziggurat element, under the Lich Etude; 4) open the element "Ciar Provocation"; 5) click the "Give Objective (Obj3_KillCiar...)"; 6) click "Play Scene Ziggurat_CiarAttack" (if you are not in the Ziggurat, you'll be teleported, if you are, then a cutscene will play); 7) play the scene; 8) once Ciar goes down he'll probably stand up back, so to force trigger the scene that allows you to recruit him, click "Play Scene AfterFightDialogue" on the ToyBox once he is on the ground; 9) Recruit him using the dialogue options. Many steps might be optional, but after trial and error i was able to recruit him without fucking up my save file. I recommend you to make a back up save to try this.
Just a note about skill checks, natural 20s and natural 1s are not automatic successes or failures on skill checks, unlike saves or attack rolls. Whilst a lot of perception checks can be taken by multiple party members (though not conversation or world map checks) and therefore having more than 1 character with decent perception can be useful as a safeguard against bad rolls, having perception on everyone really doesnt make any sense. If a character's perception is 19 or more lower than your highest character's perception check, then that character will not be useful at all as backup roll. He will definitely fail if the character with 19+ more perception failed, and with 11 fewer base ranks, and presumably not using wis gear or the +10 goggles, his perception will be more than 19 points below the highest character. UMD can be potentially useful on anyone for personal buff scrolls, and he has enough charisma to get mileage here.
For Shake it off - it reads right in the descriptor "Allies who ALSO have this feat" I believe it will only work for the allies that specifically have Shake It Off as a chosen teamwork feat - which first makes it a feat tax, and second is probably best to put on those characters that have lower than your average saves, to gird them up. (Or just build party members that don't have weak saving throws) ** I'm also aware that like other skills, the way it SAYS it should work, is not always the way it does. Just thought I'd point it out, and it would be cool if it was a bonus to the whole party. Currently trying to run a Bard 5/Socercer 6/Loremaster 9 build (Since you can gain spell levels of your base class with LM I'm thinking it'll be Sorcerer 15 by the end) It's run umpteen hundred of the attempts to get through the game once. So I'm not sold on Lich for my first full run - But I do want to get all the mythic paths done at least once. Hopefully with ascension. I know... I know, good luck and it's gonna take a while. I never said I was sane. I said I'm gonna do it. Even if it kills me. Too bad I can't become a lich in real life; but then again, I prefer vampires.
Yeah when I made this build I was putting it on all my characters. Not sure if I would do that now it's been a while since I have looked at what Lich provides.
@@SlanderedGaming I ended up switching to something else - currently trying for Gold Dragon (I decided I wanted to save my Lich Run for a damphyr Esctheclerge who worships Phrasma - since the death domain makes you immune to consequences from other forms of healing at level 8, and you'd still keep immunity to negative levels> draining effects under the lich mythic path. So you can negate one big weakness for the Dhampyr class. I'm still probably going to try a punching dagger version of Blade though. I will get through this game. At least once. Since it's Saint Patrick's day, it'll be somewhere over a rainbow. No wait, for that I'd need a Garland. Anybody seen Judy - annnd, I bet no one's gonna get the secondary reference based on weapon preference. I did note in forums people were bitching about the drain youth thing; which I think is more designed to focus the lich for pure casting. Which might be easier to pull off as a kineticist, or if they'd bother letting the damage cantrips grow in power with your level like they're supposed to. I've always had problems with casters in a vanician magic system.
Finally, as You know I have been waiting for those build videos : D
Happy to help!
Great stuff here! I’ve just started my Lich run. This guide will be invaluable.
Thank you! Glad you have found it helpful!
Yeees, it was him who i wanted, I confounded with kestoglyr on the other video 😅 thanks man
My pleasure. LOL

Ah I hadn't even considered UMD that's a good call out.
I like Demon w Cavalier: it gets hilarious.

Can anyone confirm the lance thing?
There is a +5 longspear that is called "Fable Hero's Lance". That's the only evidence I have seen that Longspear's are considered Lances in the game.
@@SlanderedGaming And it will splatter mobs. 😂 I don't see the x3 though. He gets a x2 in my logs.
Please tell me you are going to build Kestoglyr as well...
Yup came out yesterday. :)
