I was literally just going to order one but saw this video. Any suggestions for a good, similarly-priced alternative?

NO. I'm sorry but electric scooters are a waste of time. I've got thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours into this just for the few reviews you've seen. In my opinion, spring for a moped or motorcycle. I don't even think I recommend electric bicycles. I've only had one so far but the problem is you can't trust Chinese companies to make transportation for you. Check back in 5 years and maybe I'll have a different opinion.

The rear tire has just enough "stretch" in the wire to follow the video. Where it goes wrong is the stepping on "working it". Just use the zip-tie method. Remove the old tire. Put zip ties around the wheel, I usually do 5. Sinch them down. now it will look more like a donut vs the c. It will easily slip on over the motor. Cut the zip tie and remove it. I have found removing the valve core and filling it with a fast air compressor will set the bead. Replace the core, inflate, and reinstall. The first time, it took me 4+ hours to get it changed. The next time a little over 30 minutes. Note this is ONLY for the rear tire. I haven't attempted the front yet.

I'm glad you got it done. I will probably go to a local Mexican tire shop for help next time I wear a tire out.

Yep the plastic axle bolt covers are crap, need a slim walled 21mm socket to get to the nuts, motor cable only just stretches enough to get off the side arms. Now two huge blisters on my palms and a square inch of skin peeled off after half an hour non stop trying to manhandle the new tyre onto the rim, all while hobbled over on the ground because the wheel attached by the cable. Guess I have to haul the whole thing off somewhere for others to charge me to struggle to seat the tyre while I wait for my hands to heal. Like you, very disappointed with Segway for this, every six months will have to endure the process.

@@Matt_Dylan Took it to a local bike shop, they used several clamps in differing planes, extra pairs of hands, brute force and levers, soapy water lube to get the tyre on. Though they said they had trouble getting all the bits back together; couldn't get one of the axle nuts on properly, so backed it with spacers, indicater panels awkward and now my rear break light doesn't activate properly. Though it is done, phew! soon the front tyre's turn. They added 25% than the quote as it was so awkward(seems they wanted to add more a $ fee than that, though already quoted so...)

@@Matt_Dylan Oh and also, even I asked them not to, they tried to open the hub to remove the motor and axle unit so they could put the rim on their bench vice, though stopped after stripping the first screw they tried to remove. Had an ominous feeling of doom if they continued down that route lol.

That tire repair sounds like a nightmare. A hard wired motor is ridiculous, especially on such an expensive scooter. For that caliber scooter, quick disconnects should be standard.

I feel violated by all the youtubers on the take with these scooter companies. Everyone is clearly ignoring problems and sugar coating everything in order to keep getting pre-production samples. They could have warned me. Any of them.

All they do is take people money and when you have a issue with a scooters to give you a hard time to replace it I went through hell trying to get my GT one replaced because it was issues with it

I agree Segway customer service is horrible. They have quality merchandise, but they services horrible, and they need to be exposed.

Yeah I sent my scooter in under warranty and from pickup until they first looked at it was over a month. So you catch a flat and you're just out of the game for a whole month before they'll even touch it. We'll see what happens after they actually start working on it.

@@Matt_Dylan in order to put the tyre on the rim and get it beaded you’ll have to put zip ties around the tyre and once it’s on the rim you just cut the zip tie next time I will make a video but either way I cannot recommend these scooters backed by a 2 year warranty they told me and I somehow can’t even return it leaving me stuck with it so yes video coming soon and I already liked and your video buddy
